Tight course
The course layout is traditional but there are touch too many OB lines that force lay-ups on the short par 4s.
There was standing water in several places and the course might be difficult to play at the height of winter. The staff are very professional and were tending to various groundworks. The green are quite good.
Ok experience
The course was very wet but we have had some heavy rain this week, the layout of the course is such that you can’t really see where to go from each tee, very few signs to help. I think at £23 compared to other courses we have played in the area it was over priced.
Small greens
Narrow fairways very tight course small greens which had just been done for the winter
Forest Hill
Nice course. Kept well and good value. Play here regularly. Good facilities.
Lovely course.
Club have swapped the front and back 9s around this year which felt better and they are spending 2 million on developing facilities this year. Highly recommend this course.
Beautiful course
Beautifully kept course, with an excellent pace of play. Easy access along with excellent amenities.
on arrival the pro shop was very helpful we were supposed to have a third player playing with us but the pro shop sorted it so we could play as a 2 ball very pleased with that.
the course was in very good condition, would play it again, good challenge.
Massive improvements
Course has been improved massively. Greens and bunkers all great. Ground staff working all over course. Will be great when range re-opens
Forest Hill
Good course. Kept well with some challenging holes. Would play again.
Nice course
The lady in the pro was helpful and polite making sure we knew where to go and all amenities the course had changed it layout since I last played now starting at the 10th . The grass on tees was a little bit over all the course was in great condition and I will be playing again
Lovely afternoon
Facilities and environment are excellent
Fairways were not cut short enough, old grass cuttings left on fairway to
Tee boxes were very rough and too long grass
Greens - played true but condition was understandable for time of year due to maintenance requirements to get them ready for the winter etc.
Bunkers in good condition
Lay out of course good, some lovely interesting holes
Has really high potential to be a lovely course, but I feel let down by condition of fairways and tee boxes.
Almost!
Great setting and a really good and challenging lay out where no 2 holes are the same. Par 3s are a real test and as for the mighty 565 yard par 5 on the back 9- you know you’ve played at the end of it.
Areas to improve:
- All greens were very dry- despite the fact that we hadn’t had much sun for days. As a result I felt them a little ‘furry’ and didn’t have much stop on them
- some tea boxes were in a relatively poor state- one on the back 9 in particular was more weeds than grass- but perfectly usable
- a couple of fairways could have done with a cut and were quite heavy in places- the first cut of the rough needed attention too
However, it is a lovely course and these are very minor issues- we will definitely be back!
Good Challenging Course
Course has plenty of challenging holes, more so on the back 9, but also there are enough holes to shoot low on.
First Time
Really enjoyed playing here for the first time. An interesting course with plenty of hazards and a decent mix of distances on each hole.
Although I didn’t stay for a drink or food, the facilities seemed excellent. Signs on the 9th tee with a phone number to call to have food and drinks ready when you finish that hole is a great touch.
Staff in the shop were friendly and helpful, although they are strict with the dress code (one of my partners got told off as his shirt wasn’t tucked in).
Pace of play was a slight issue, but I can hardly blame anyone apart from the couple holding everyone up by not letting anyone play through. It meant a lot of bunching up on holes which made me feel like I had to rush my game but all in all a really enjoyable round and I’ll definitely play here again.
Lovely course that could be better
Really nice looking course to play on. They are doing lots of work there and will be much better when finished. The bunkers aren't in play at the moment which is a shame and the rough is very unforgiving. Anything slightly off the the fairway could easily get lost.
Great greens
Got a hot deal off teeofftimes (£16) and was pleasantly surprised by the quality/condition of the course. The greens were superb and the fairways well tended,in fact the whole course was better than I remembered.
The 1st and 10th have now swapped since I last visited but I think it works better.
Would recommend to anyone who wants a great course at a reasonable price.
