Great value at Mardyke Valley
Interesting course in good condition, especially the greens.
Winter tees, so course quite short.
Will play again in the spring, I think will be a good test off the back tees.
Nice little course
Course not to bad second cut hard to find golf balls because of all the Daisy’s need to take yellow or pink golf balls so easier to find ,small greens that needed to be watered
Some route marches between greens
No to much details on where the next greens were signage could be a lot better
The breakfast was not to exciting quite bland but coffee was good
But all said and done you get in life what you pay for.
Lovely course plenty of challenges
Nice mixture of holes from long par 4s to tricky par 3s. Narrow and a real test to keep ball in play. 17th brilliant hole over water. Will be coming back in summer to play off summer tees.
Lovely pay & play
This is one of the better pay & play courses I've played on. The greens were in fantastic condition and the rest of the course well kept.
Watch out for the prices however, as I ended up paying more on here than I would have done at the course direct.
This is due to the scaled pricing depending on what time you play. Caught me out as their website only gives one price.
Don't Under-rate this Course!
This is a local course which I've therefore passed a number of times but never played. What a great surprise! Despite a reasonable amount of pay and play golfing traffic the greens were excellent. Receptive, putting true and a decent speed. There are some real gems on this course - especially the 5th sweeping par 5 and the 17th par 4 over a pond.
Give this course a go - you'll not find it a push-over or a disappointment!
VALUE!
Good value and great staff, course layout good, but pace of play was slow but that can't be helped
a good test
a course that is well worth a look, with some testing holes.
you will enjoy this good value for money course
Nice course, greens in good condition, drainage could be a little better in places only issue was a golf society was booked for same time as me consisting of 15 groups of 4 so made pace of play very poor but apart from that would play again.
Pleasantly Surprised
Nice Course, reasonably priced and some challenging holes.
Friendly clubhouse but course is not the best, buried stones on fairways/ rough and bare lies all around. We paid £10 for the round so to be fair couldn't expect to much.... greens had been treated but were pretty bad. Back 9 way better than the front.
Pace of play lets it down
Pretty average course, could be better with the right maintenance, however, this would be a course I went to regularly if it wasn't for the pace of play. We tee'd off at 12:07 and the course was rammed. The 2 groups in front of us were hackers and wouldn't let us play through as they were waiting on the next tee themselves. Took us the amount of time it would take to finish 18 holes and have a few drinks just to get to the 10th so we gave up on the 12th and went to the clubhouse. Wasn't that fussed as it was only £16 each and it was a nice day out, feel sorry for anyone who paid full price to play on this day though.
Mardyke Valley
Fairways fairly unevenly cut and bare in places. greens have been spiked and not treated so putting is now difficult. Seems they did not have enough dressing but only found out after they completed spiking.
However the course is very good and fairly challenging for the average golfer. With the par at 70 its quite a long course.
Plenty of challenges all the way round.
Good deals can be had on twilight.
Starts off gentle then "Watery Grave"
The course starts off gentle then you come to 13,14,15,16 17th Watery Grave. It’s an Open parkland course. With some undulating fairways & greens, some guarded by water near the end. The whole course had a nice design too it, Fairway & green good just little woolly. Friendly staff. Sadly no practise nets.
Worth a visit
We played mid day and the course was clear which makes a huge difference ,so quite a quick round .
Course is in reasonable condition for the time of the year .some interesting holes with some really tricky approach shots .
We have always found the staff here friendly and welcoming .
