Delightful surprise

Booked a last minute round with a late tee off. A great test for beginner and advanced golfers. Really is a thinking course and position off the tee is paramount. And has holes to suit all shapes of golf shots. Superb greens.. Will definitely return.

First time visitors

We arrived 5 minutes early to the tee box only to be met by someone from the club shop who spent 5 minutes telling us how fast we’d have to play so as not to annoy any of the members. He also seemed annoyed we had booked on a Sunday morning ‘prime time’, given that it was a tee time they had advertised and they apparently welcome visitors this got my back up straight away! Once playing though we really enjoyed the challenging course which is set in a lovely landscape. Despite our 3 ball group running well ahead of schedule we still had a visit from a member of staff on a buggy telling us how important it was to keep a good pace, in the end we finished the round two holes clear of the following group so it all seemed a bit pointless! Would recommend the course itself for anyone to experience it but it’s the first I’ve visited where I felt we weren’t really welcome.

Fun course

Great course to play, only 1 temp greens (17th) for this time of year/weather we've had was great. Fast green, loads of hazards and only a few places with ob so can be a challenging place to come.
Most tee boxes were temperary but can actually stick your tees into the artificial grass which is a bonus
Wet patches in some areas but completely expected for winter golf
Only thing I would say about the course is that it's very compact with some holes very close to one another and 1 shared green but as long as you've got a good shout for fore in you I think this is a great course
Would reccomend especially for this time of year

Rasen

First time playing mkt Rasen.

Good practice facilities and lovely clubhouse.

A few temporary greens due to awful weather conditions over the past month, but that’s hit every golf course. Otherwise greens and fairways in good condition.

Very welcoming staff and fellow golfers allowing me to play through (played as single).

Would book again/10

Awful Experience

Played as a two ball. Started on time at 11:48. A group ahead were playing at a reasonable pace and no issue for the first three holes. By hole four the pace had slowed to a crawl. The group ahead were themselves being held up by a four ball. They quit after 9 holes due to slow play ahead without being made the offer of being allowed to play through. Hole 10, we were waiting to approach the blind green when the two ball behind had lost their patience and began gesticulating and pressuring us to play even though at that stage the green was not clear. Once we spoke to the two ball behind to explain the situation they called the clubhouse who sent out somebody to talk to the slow four ball to try and speed up play. We let the impatient two ball through and the guy from the clubhouse returned to let us know that they’d spoken to the four ball and they would let us through on the following hole. Two holes later we still had not been let through. At this point we abandoned our round.
It turns out that one of the women from the four ball was a DIRECTOR of the club! I think the etiquette shown by one of the directors of the golf club was disgraceful, directors should provide the example to others. We were told we should be pressuring them to let us through which is not the type of atmosphere that should be encouraged in my view and in my experience would not have gone down well, particularly coming from a visitor. No refund was given for the back nine and we left extremely disappointed at what should have been an enjoyable round. The course provides a good challenge and was in decent shape for the time of year but it appears that the culture at this club set by those in charge is rotten. Avoid.

Slow play but a nice course

My girlfriend and I are both single figure golfers, which we thought was evident to the group in front when we both almost holed out for 2 on the 3rd. A society in front of us refused to let us through, meaning what we thought was going to be a nice smooth 3 hour round was just over 4 hours. Besides that setback and me nearly being late for work later, course was in okay condition for the time of year. It is a good test for anyone with a predominant shot shape. Would recommend, just typical 4 ball clueless golfers who do not know simple common courtesy!

Great course and a good challenge.

Market Rasen has some challenging holes and some lovely old growth trees everywhere. Overall the course is very tight and even the shorter holes will provide difficulties for anyone who isn't pretty straight off the tee. We really enjoyed the course and will be back for sure.

Great challenge of golf.

Really enjoyed playing this very tight golf course. Good straight driving is crucial. The greens are in great condition and has a well stocked pro shop. Highly recommended.

Great layout

Unfortunately the course does seem to hold water in the winter months, so some wet areas and bare bits of ground. The course is however a great layout and greens were in good condition although a little slow on the day. The Golf Now hot deal of the day was great value and about a third of the summer rate cost. This was my third time playing the course and will certainly return again.

Tight course with fantastic greens.

The greens were the standout feature of the course. They were very quick and true. The course is very tight and tree lined for the most part with a good variety of features.

Warm up facilities were pretty average but the practice greens were great.

There were a couple of holes where trees are in the line of play; one of the holes had a tree pretty much in the middle of the fairway on a dog leg hole, which you cannot get past from the tee due to the shape of the hole, which blocks your approach to the green.

The 18th is a par 3 with a huge tree that overhangs the front right half of the green which is just silly imo, as anything right side just hits the tree.

Apart from the few tree issues which aren’t my cup of tea on a golf course I enjoyed the round and would return.

A true heathland gem!

I travel a lot with work and play 1 or 2 new courses each week. This is by far the best course I have played this year. Immaculate condition, great layout and unbelievable value for money. Can't recommend it enough.
