Great course and facilities but winter play isn't great
The course layout and holes are fantastic, a mix of long and short holes with varying terrain. However, the fairways were very muddy and times which made play difficult and some greens were waterlogged so made putting tricky on the first handful of holes and the first two holes had temporary "greens" which were just fairways with a hole so were borderline unplayable.
However, when the weather is better this course will be absolutely superb. In the clubhouse there is one of the best pro shops I've ever seen, massive and competitively priced with a golf clothing outlet shop that's an absolute steal alongside a lovely little coffee shop and an incredible 2 floor driving range, it's an amazing place to play golf but the day we played didn't show the course's full potential.
Poor condition
Definitely not a winter course and not even worth the reduced fee of £40. Everything else about the course is great, but not one to play in the winter. Even with a dry couple of weeks there was lots of water on the greens and the fairways were super muddy, and not even really fairways
Quality course
Great day. Great weather. This course is a thinker. You have plan ahead and plot your shots.
The course is in really good condition.
Challenging and enjoyable course
A long challenging course of the whites which forces you to think. A picturesque last 3 holes. Excellent pro shop, practice facilities and lakeside restaurant for after game burger and beers. The fairway and green condition was a bit suspect for first few holes but got better as round went on.
Enjoyable day all round and happy to pay the £40 green fee, would recommend course.
Surrey Staple
There can't be many golfers within the M25 who haven't played Silvermere Golf Course. I played it dozens of time a good while back. Played it this week for the first time in several years. Played brilliantly. Get out and play it now. The track, weather conditions and course presentation surely makes this one of the contenders for the best pay/play golfing experiences in the entire South Eastern region.
Shoddy condition
I’ve played here a few times and it’s normally decent.
Hole 17 and 18 were the only reason I slogged through this round, the temporary greens on two holes back to back left a bad taste. Temporary tee boxes are unacceptable.
Nice course and good value for money
The course is a lovely course considering the weather we have had. There are ball washers on every tee box and bins on every one too, it’s just a shame that people don’t use them!
There were a few people on the course that aren’t considerate of their slow play and also don’t repair pitch marks or divots.
I would recommend the course to a friend, and is certainly good value for money.
Summer course not winter!
Have played here for over 17 years on and off. Decided for £29 to give it a go, as haven't been for a year. Holes 1 to 6 and 17 & 18 are the reason this course is great, however overall I was underwhelmed.
Greens were lovely quick and smooth and that all the best I can say. The fairways were muddy without it being a mud bath...they have cut back a lot of the topography that made this course. I understand to air the course changes are needed but surely keep something to not make it look so barren. Overall it was OK. I will most probably return in the summer but if only the price is reasonable.
Etiquette
I like Silvermere a lot and played it for many years but we suffered a 3 ball ahead that spent more time videoing every short and chatting than golf. We dropped to holes to get ahead as there was no attempt at etiquette and subsequently enjoyed our last 7 holes immensely.
Given the drought, the course played well.
Beautiful course
An absolute treat to play. Superb course. Especially front 9. But final 2 holes are also superb.
Highly recommended
Interesting challenge in excellent condition
Good mix of long and short holes at each par level. Few straight holes, so planning needed to navigate undulating tree-lined fairways (which were very attractive as bushes in full bloom).
The course is known for the lake carries on 17 & 18, but the back nine deploys streams and ponds to require sensible course management.
Friendly and efficient starter.
Roving refreshment cart was a bonus.
Pace of play marked down as stuck behind a slow football.
