Stamford Golf Club

The day was absolutely brilliant from start to finish. The weather was a perfect sunny day which complemented the course conditions. Every hole was in perfect condition with well maintained greens and fairways. It has gentle hills but an average player would enjoy and play them well.
Must give a mention to all the staff and the Pro for their friendly hospitality and congratulate the sheaf for the best buffet we have had .It comes with our best Thank-you for making our day and we will definitely be returning.

really enjoyed my round on this course. Greens have recently had work done, so were not in the best condition. Needs a drop of rain now. But otherwise cracking round of golf. Thanks to Bob and Jack for their company and showing me round on my first time there. Very friendly staff. Will definitely play this course again.

A few gentle gradients to walk up but generally not to bad.
Happily play again.

Course offers a good challenge with some tight fairways and blind holes. Placement is key on this course to maximise your scorecard.

First positive to give this course is to the members and the staff. As soon as we arrived a couple of members started talking to us in the car park, giving us tips about the course, discussing other courses we had all played etc. Very friendly atmosphere. The staff in the shop were welcoming and helpful.

The course itself is really interesting, I went on a GPS app to look at the course and it looks quite boring from a bird's eye view. When you actually get there you can see how the landscape really makes you think about the majority of your shots. The majority of the Fairways were cut to a decent level and the majority of the greens rolled really well. We had steady raining throughout the round and had two / three days of heavy rain leading up to playing - the course handled the rain well and ball still rolled and bounced.

I feel slightly harsh giving the condition 3* as we have just left a lockdown but there were a few minor issues.
- some of the tees lacked grass, too much bare grass and old divots which made it hard to tee up in a desirable spot.
- the second issue was the divots in the fairway. Especially the 1st and 3rd. On the 3rd there was at least 30 divots in the fairway that had not been replaced, poor reflection on the players rather than the grounds team.
- some holes are slightly tricky to find, but small posts are dotted around the course.

Would definitely play this course again, already booked in for next week. Haven't played a course as enjoyable as this for the price bracket.

This is not the first time we have played this course. It is so much fun to play, that I will consider joining.

Decent course, greens were quite nice and fast, well looked after, some sloped so a bit challenging, some narrow fairways, nicely placed trees and bunkers, few elevated tee shots, dropping down, but resulting in uphill iron shots where you cant see the green, overall is ok. Dont know why courses cant clearly display next tees as quite a few holes are confusing, a bit of crossing others' tees also or sharing tee boxes so feels a bit cramped. Grass cutters working hard fair play to keep it in good condition. thanks for the round.

Excellent woodland course. Tricky first 4 holes. Well looked after with freindly staff. Great views while you play. .

Played this course 5 years ago, they've moved the order of holes around which is better, the greens are in very good condition. We will be coming back to play this course again.

Played here and had a wonderful round of golf, greens had been dressed, so it will be nice to see how they are in a few weeks.

Mark the pro was very helpful as was everyone that we met at the club.

A good test of your golf game. Worth playing more than once

Played here for the second time, you honestly cannot fault the friendliness of all the staff . The Pro was great thanks Mark. Greens had been dressed and I am sure in a week or two will be exceptional.

Only thing that spoilt the round was the dire weather on the last 4 holes. Due to Covid No facilities where open. We would definitely play the course again hopefully in better weather

Played a round today
Got there and was told I needed a plain shirt with collar to play ?? They said this was stated on website ?? But it’s not on golfnows site , so kind of deceptive if it’s not on the booking site they use. No point having the info on there site when it’s not on the booking site they use ???
Members behind me were rushing even though I was waiting for the pair in front, golf is a leisurely sport and if your in a rush play something else , to me they were just plain rude
Shame because the course was lovely and also challenging
But won’t be going back again because of the reasons listed above

Thoroughly enjoyed playing this course. There were some tricky blind holes from which the benefit of hindsight would have been appreciated. Never quite knew where your hall would end up! Interesting features like ravines to cross, dog legs, some narrow fairways and up/down hill lies all adding to the fun. The greens were in superb condition. Played during covid hence unable to rate off course facilities. Will definitely return.

Really good interesting course, plan your way around. Will definitely play again in summer

A hidden gem, quirky thinking man's course ,plan your way around it, great par 3s, dog leg and blind par 4s and super par 5s , all said an excellent day out here. Course was in fair good condition although a couple of greens were having serious work on them , I trust the greenkeepers will do their thing and have those ready asap. Would definitely return in spring/summer.

Well, a hidden gem, would love to play it again in summer. Quirky golf course with some great driving holes, great par 3s and dog leg par 4s. Friendly members and staff. All said , an enjoyable experience. Hope the greens that are being worked on are back in play asap.
