return after many years
Not played here for a considerable number of years ( since my last game they have chaged 1st and 2nd and 17th and 18th)...... my abiding memory was lots of holes that cross each other, and at times it felt quite danerous, what i did not remember was some of the elevation changes, and the "valley" that is in play on 1st, 2nd , 3rd, 15th and 16th.
For mid Dec the course was in remarkably good condition.
In all honesty holes 1 to 3 are a bit dull, up and down and all similar in length, but there are some memorable holes 8 and 9 are two very strong par 3's as is 14 and 17, 15 is a great hole, rally accurate drive is required that suits a draw (if you have one!), and then a medium / long iron up the hill to an elevated green.
............. and those crossing holes...... yes they are still there and still a bit dangerous if you have not got your witts about you !
good variety in a small bit of land
enjoyed my round, the crossover holes were plentiful but proved no problem for me on the day. They have managed to put a decent course together on what is clearly a small parcel of land. Probably half the holes are interesting, the other half a bit up and down, but does provide an easy walk with only one hill on the 14th to negotiate. Definitely be back, but dont play on a busy day (it was quiet for me), It would take forever to play due to the crossing over of holes/tees.
An oasis of peace in the Black Country
Pace of play was greatly reduced by a 4 ball of older guys in buggys but would otherwise have been fine. Great mix of undulating holes and flatter parkland type holes, all or mostly tree lined. Excellent quality greens, quick and consistent. Cross over fairways in places for a friendly sociable round.
Love Stourbridge
With a tee time of 8:04 club shop was still closed, but having played there before that wasn't an issue. Greens were in excellent condition and the course was looking grand, and there is always work going on maintaining the course. With leaf collection being done this time of the year. Fairways cross a few times so you have to be careful when they cross.
Shame we caught it on a wet day!
I had driven past the course many times and formed the view that it was fairly flat, so was surprised by the undulations and elevation changes. It's a nice course, though, kept in good nick and the greens were of a high standard. It's not the longest of courses, but you needed to be fairly accurate off the tee - sometimes you had quite a narrow target area. The layout had a number of fairways that crossed and teeing areas that were shared, which I not a big fan of. This didn't affect us greatly, but I can imagine some delays when the course is busy. It would help to have diagrams of each hole by the tee boxes. All in all, despite the rain and the wind and some poor play on my part, the experience was definitely a good one!
Course in excellent condition
Played the course early in the morning,no traffic in front of me. Despite some heavy overnight and early morning rain the course was in excellent condition and firm underfoot. As I got the price as a hot deal price it was definitely worth the money.
Great course, enjoyed my round.
Found this course a nice challenge to play. the green speeds were good and even around the course and the course is excellently kept. Would definitely recommend to a friend and looking forward to playing here again.
Great course
Arrived for 8am tee and the clubhouse was shut. Thought to myself not a great start. After that it got better and better. Firstly greens were the best I've played this winter in fantastic condition. Course itself wasn't overly wet either, firm underfoot nearly all over. Par 3's not simple for high handicapper like myself. I found it challenging but not so that it overpowered you. Some steep ascents and descents in places I felt. No winter tees or greens in mid January is great going in my opinion. Will return!
First time
Excellent winters day condition of course , leaves blown off course , excellent fairways dry , perfect greens a very enjoyable day
Good

What a bargain, first time at Stourbridge and had a wonderfull game thanks
Criss cross
The course is in excellent condition. Greens are true and quite slick. The course has lots of trees so may be tight for some. The criss-crossing fairways are somewhat unusual (watch your back). Greens didn't seem to hold too well on approach shots or maybe that was just me on the day. I didn't find the course too difficult and the greens were not vey challenging, quite flat. The course did at times seem a bit up and down. Still had an enjoyable game. Staff and members were extremely friendly. If I was paying full price and not the bargain golf now price, my review may have been less favourable.
