Great course, great value
Played Dorset twice in last month and both times the course has been in good condition considering the weather. Played after heavy rainfall this week and one hole (6th) was unplayable from tee to about 200 yards out due to flooding, but rest of course was fine. Huge greens and quite a forgiving course with light rough and room to get back in play even if wayward from tee on most holes. Great little club house too and range facilities superb
Fab course.
Beautiful, well designed course. Every tee shot required thought to navigate the clever bunkers. Soaking wet and drenched but still fantastically prepared for golfers.
Bar staff seemed a little off colour.
A really enjoyable relaxed round of golf. Early morning tee allowed me to have an unpressured round on Lakeland & Parkland Course. The Course was in good condition particularly the greens. I wondered about any confusion with tees as Course comprises of different permutations of 3 x 9 hole courses. I however found Course and signage very clear.
Trying to arrange to come back.
First time playing this course. Although there was an error with my tee off time that was quickly sorted. I played the parkland and woodland courses. Although I wanted to play the Lakeland course but my disappointment was short lived. The bunkers are well placed on almost every hole I did think at one point I was playing in Weymouth beach seeings I spent so much time in the sand. As I walked from the 18 to the 19 tees (the 9th on the parkland to the 1st on the woodland). I was met by the course ranger he was very friendly. He directed me to the next hole and warned me how narrow the woodland course is. I am currently trying to pluck up the courage to ask the better half when I can play again.
Greens are big .
This couse is one of the best i have played in Dorset. Very friendly staff and when you get to the tee box, they have a marshall to check your tee time and help you with course information.
The greens are very big and so are the geenside bunkers and lots of them.
The greens are in very good condtion.
I played very well on the day and had a hole in one on the Lakeland on hole 7 , which made the day, one not to forget.
What a good course this is.
Les w -b.
Little bit pricey
The course itself is a well set out 27 hole course, so you don’t need to play the same 18 holes everytime you play. The price though on golf now is no cheaper than just going to the course or ringing up and booking which is the only downside to the course
Very slow play today
Booked with golfnow and reservations are not live so it looks like u the place isn't busy when it's full needed a buggy even though they had over 30 at the end of the day but pro shop sorted one couple hours later than out desired tee time which I didn't mind but golf now needs to sort this with golf club right away. Course design is good great condition shame some of clover bunkers are everywhere ok if ur a pro but average golfer will get punished for straight drives shame today was really slow stuck behind 4 persons who waited 200 yards the previous players to leave par 4's when they all couldn't hit 100yard drives shocking. Also gutted golf watches don't work here because of military ground so close so gutted if I've spent 1k on trolley with GPS golf and want to know distances.
Great Day Out
Great complex the nine holes we played were well looked after and in great condition. ill definitely play again in the area and would recommend the course to others
dorset tour round 5
my first visit to this course, on arrival parking was a litttle on the busy side and waited on a group leaving to get a parking spot close to the range amd pro shop.
range tokens are available from the proshop, the range has plenty of bays generosity sized.
there's a large practice putting green which resembles the ones i found on the woodland and lakes courses in both pace and slope.
front nine was on the woodland course relatively short holes i found i didnt need a driver, this couse weaves through rhododendron bushes which at the right time of year make it look like agusta.
pace of play was good.
the back nine was on the lakes and probably my only gripe about the couse was on the tenth tee, groups were coming off their 9th and then deciding which course they would go to and backing up a little, it really needs a starter here or the pro shop telling players what course to play to keep the pace of play going. i ended up behind a two ball which i waited on every shot for and on every tee with (no offer to join or go through)
that aside the lakes couse is well laid out and maintained, again this course is not a long course, all in all well worth a visit id happily go back, it was well worth the green fee
At this price its excellent value for money.
I should just start off by saying its late January and this course was playing main tees and main greens. I was playing in a two bar and started on the Parkland course (hole 19) and whilst there had been a frost, the course still held up really well. The second 9 was played on the Woodland, by that time the frost had gone the sun was out, it was beautiful. Crazy value at £30 for this quality of golf.
The staff were really helpful, it made for a really pleasant experience.
Fantastic Course
Course was in excellent condition and the staff were friendly, stunning scenery and a very enjoyable round.
Tough as ever
Another enjoyable round for our regular 4 ball The course is understandably a bit tired from the volume of traffic it’s had to contend with but still a good test for all
The only downside were people joining from having played other 9 holes first which slowed play quite a bit
Poor condition and far far too busy
We played today as we were local on holiday
At first glance it looked great, teed off and it was empty apart from a 1ball in front of us
Then it got bad, the fairways were awful.. appreciate it had rained a lot this week but they fairways were like the rough
Greens were the slowest I’ve ever played and every bunker was full of water..
it’s purely down to overuse.. too many people there too many society’s to ever be in a good condition!!
First nine we flew round then hit the 10th and the clubhouse let 3 groups of women off who looked like they never picked up a club before today.. didn’t let people play through because “we just let a one ball though”
Poor planning basically by the pro shop, no thought and no etiquette at all!
I wouldn’t come back and wouldn’t recommend this
It’s up there with the worst condition course I’ve played at.
Slow slow slow
We had to wait for an hour between our two nine holes then it still took nearly three hours to play nine holes not what we expected we would not play there again.
Golfing Heaven
Yes the weather was perfect. Yes I played well but this was how all golf clubs should be.
17 testing, well designed, superbly maintained holes - more of the 18th later
The tees, greens, fairways and importantly for a visitor - on course signage, parking, catering were top class.
Reservations - As a first time visitor the road signs at the correct turning signposted the "East Dorset GC" so I drove past for many miles.
Finally - the 18th hole was a big disappointment, having enjoyed 17 interesting, challenging and picturesque holes, to finish with a dead straight par 4 from a scruffy tee aiming towards a line of golf buggies was anti climactic - but as they say, " Nothing is perfect except God " and this was as near to a perfect days golf as I have enjoyed in my near 70 years.
Great course
Great course to play . Unfortunately it was heavy wind and rain today so made the course play a little harder but we all need a challenge. So no complaints on our part
