Ok course
Staff friendly, course well kept, greens good, bunkers not all great
Overall decent course, I just thought it a little bit dull.....no hole really stood out thinking back on it.
However wouldnt want to knock this course, they look after it well.
Monday golf
Course in good condition, nice time to play as not busy
Great Course
Played Whipsnade for the first time on Friday 22nd Sept with my eldest son. We were both very surprised after travelling along some very narrow lanes to find such a lovely course with practice areas and a lovely converted building into a clubhouse / bar / restuarante. Booked online as a 2 ball and had a great deal teeing off at 3.30pm. However when asking if we could T off early (as it didnt appear busy) the reception was a little offhand and we were curtly told that we had to wait and play with 2 other people as a 4 ball and that was why we had such a good Green Fee.!!! I recommend that this should be made clear at the point of online booking. However we waited and the guys didnt turn up the obligatory 5 mins before T time so we followed a single player and had a great round of golf despite the heavens opening up when we got to the 2nd T. Thunder and lightning imediately overhead but there was no siren - so we played on and it was great that we did. The round consisted of sunshine and showers and some brilliant golf by my son James. The holes are all individual tree lined fairways so you were immersed in the hole you are playing. 5 x par 5's, 9 x par 4's - 5 of which are close to 400yds, 4 x par 3's over a course yardage of 6393.
We played the front nine in 1.1/2 hrs and the back nine in 1.3/4 hrs helped in part by James' great scoring. Playing off 8 and only 6 times a year he carded a Gross 3 over 76 dragging his old Dad along for the ride. Overall a great golf course, nicely maintained with very good consistant greens. Fairways are lovely and soft underfoot (grass - not wet soil) so the ball is sat up nicely.
I would totally recommend any one in the area to come and play the course. I play for our Seniors team and travel to many golf courses and this stands well above many that I have played.
My only other recomendation is that the scorecard is available online. Whilst the video is great most golfers love to view the card before we decide to play a course.
Nice course avoid club shop
Played this course on a golf day. Practice areas were really good with a pitching green and huge putting green and a driving range which as the club shop person said rather loudly and very rudely don’t play of the grass!
A few of my playing partners commented on how rude he was so clearly just didn’t take a dislike to me.
The course was in very good condition and seemed to get very close to the zoo which was interesting.
I found the front 9 easier than the back with a nice dogleg to start my favourite hole was a par 3 on the back 9 with a big pond next to the green which my ball went into.
Overall would play again but put off going by the club shop experience
Great day out at Whipsnade!
First time playing this course and will be back soon!
Course in great condition - perfectly manicured throughout and some great holes.
Club shop staff very friendly and welcoming.
Thanks for a great afternoon and see you soon!

Excellent course in very good condition
Situtuated on Dunstable Downs, near Whispnade Zoo (where you can see some of the animals!) - this is a remarkably flat course in excellent condition despite the dry weather.
Decent wide layout with plenty of long par 4s with left/ right woodland dog legs to challenge above average golfers - misplaced drives generally could be found whether under tree canopies or alternate fairways!
Greens were excellent to putt on however with the dry conditions played like a links with early shots into the green not holding and running through - so change of tactic to run into the green for remainder of round.
The course is especially quiet on a Mondays due to the kitchen being closed - however the staff we met were very friendly and the facilities very welcoming.
Recommended and will definitely like to book again.
Could do with some new features same old lots of fairways look similar so you don’t really know what hole your on you think you have played them before.
Vet flat and holds water very damp after previous days rain plsying v long
Good value for price
Took father in law who isn't the quickest player these days so good to see staff happy to let us go off a little earlier than planned as it was quiet as we were paired with another two ball as a result of buying on GN. Took a tee at 1530ish and was busy but not clogged. Nice and flat and the fairways are nice and open in places so possible to hit a good score.
Unfriendly welcome
Been here a few times before and always enjoyed it, unfortunately it was soured this visit by a very unwelcoming man in the pro shop.
We barely had one foot through the door and he moaned at me for having trainers on (we were just signing in and making sure there were no issues with the booking before unpacking all of our kit out of the car) and then bizarely demanded one of our group tuck his jumper into his trousers ??!!
We got the distinct impression we were being looked down on just for being a 'golf now group'.
We enjoyed our round regardless despite the course not being in great condition, we also enjoyed a beer afterwards at a local pub, after remembering the attitude in the pro shop earlier, we assumed we weren't welcome in the clubhouse as "non members" and spent our money elsewhere.
Sadly I think this will be out last trip here.
