FootGolfReviews
I'm lucky I was following the SatNav otherwise I would never have found the golf course. It is hidden away through an industrial estate and could easily be missed by people. We were fortunate with the weather when we played. Both the Fairways and the greens were very well kept considering the amount of rain that had fallen over the last few days. The greens especially were incredibly fast. I am not a huge fan of of 9 hole golf courses But it is certainly one of the better ones that I have played.
Nice local course
Ex council course built on former colliery land. Still developing with fairways a bit inconsistent due to soil conditions. Greens excellent and good general layout and conditions.
Poor
Waterlogged, fairways poor quality, greens OK, 9 hole only go round twice for 18
Mixed course experience
You can’t argue with the price although the course had poorly maintained fairways with not enough grass, whilst the layout was okay for a tight space and the greens were well kept the overall experience was average.
Straight forward Whitwood
Great course for a quick round.
9 holes featuring 7 with alternative tees.
Good layout which provides an interesting challenge for mid to high handicappers.
Greens generally flat so not too punishing.
Not many bunkers but well placed to catch the wayward approach.
Great value for money
Nice little starter course
For a municipal course the greens are very good,
A very tough SI1 with wind in your face 3 or 4 very nice holes but I’m not a Love right of playing 9 holes twice and theirs not much difference in the new Tee position .
Will play again but only do 9 holes.
Straight forward Whitwood
What you see is what you get at Whitwood. Twice round the 9 holes of varying difficulty using the terrain well.
Not the most difficult but the addition of 7 new tee positions has added to the experience.
More sand in bunkers always helps but that could be said for most courses.
Greens whilst not particularly difficult were in great condition.
In the middle
Not a bad course by any means, twice round 9 holes, could be sign posted better, not very clear on where the next tee is, fairways are fine semi/rough is extreme (could've been due to staff on furlough etc) greens were fine though, all in all a very steady course just a few quid too much.
Great little course
Great little course. Good for beginners. Great value for money
Improved course
The course has improved with the addition of split tee positions for those playing 18 holes which gives some holes a bit more of a challenge. The biggest change is to the maturity of the course is the tree lines and size of the tress from my last visit here. The course is a lot more mature and has added character to several parts of the course. The additional tees are in some parts suffering from poor grass growth and the fairways of a few holes have always had the sub soils and base layers showing through which gives a bad play off surface in several parts. Holes 4, 5, 9 are the ones that have suffered this for years. Greens are good and bunkers are ok but the sand is a course mix Nd hard going when wet. The course is worth a visit and at £15 for 18 holes is value for money .
Good Value
For £11 for 18 holes this 9 hole course is great value. Yeah the fairways are a little rough In parts but the greens run smooth which is way more important to my play! Different tee boxes for back 9 too!
worth a visit
this is the second time we have played this course, and for the time of year was in great condition.The. greens were responsive and running well,
first time
Played the course for the first time, greens were very good and decent pace, good tee blocks, overall a good course for all levels of ability
Average
An average course, holes a bit confusing especially finding the 8th Tee as it was not clearly marked and the course card showed it on the wrong side of the trees. Overall though nothing bad to say or spectacular either, just and average course. The green keepers seemed busy though so it is looked after. I would play again at the right price
Pluses and minuses
We didn't discover until after booking that this is a 9 hole course played twice. Under the circumstances the control of tee-off is somewhat lax. Some 'walk-ups' tee'd off just a couple of minutes before our booked time. As a result we were delayed and missed our tee-off time for the second round. As it happened the pressure was off at this time (1.15 p.m.) and we didn't have to wait long for a slot. The design and scenery of the course is fine but the fairways were on the poor side of average - grass too long in parts and too sparse in others. My wild drives were often in the bundu - lost 4 balls (found 5). Could do with some improvement in user aids - Indication of where the next tee is and an outline of the shape of the hole for instance. Altogether fair value for money.
