Slow Greens
I enjoyed the course, but I had trouble with the pace of the greens. It seems that back home the greens are a little faster. In any case I love all three nines at Blue Water Bay.
Great Environment for a traveling golfer!
Course was interesting, greens were slow but puttable. Price point was perfect and the golf carts were really fast, for the long trip back to the clubhouse from the 18th hole.
The gem of the trip was the beautiful people in the Taproom. Rachel was lovely and all of the Bingo players were extremely pleasant.
Looking forward to my next visit to Niceville.
Still not in nice shape
I was told course was in better shape but it wasn’t much better. Fairways were not good, greens rolled at different speeds and many had bad areas. Would be good to see if new owners can get it in better condition
One of the most unique courses I ever played
I come to the Destin area a couple times a year and try to play different courses. Of course, most are extremely expensive and I usually avoid them unless I get a hot deal. In the past, I had checked the course reviews out online about Bluewater and talked to locals who also give somewhat negative opinions about this course going down over the years. However this year, the reviews were more optimistic and I decided to take a chance for the price I was able to get through Golfnow. They have been doing some overseeding and a little other work that has probably helped. However, this was still a tough course for an average golfer like me. There are many doglegs, bunkers, and forced carries throughout this layout. If you don't have a pretty good drive, you're in trouble on many holes. Fairways are also tight and greens are pretty small. The Marsh course was in a little better shape than the Bay course. If you can get a good price, then play it just for a new experience. The staff there were very nice and helpful. Don't think you're going to walk this course though. It goes on for miles and good luck when you try to find the number 1 tee on the Marsh course.
Making a Comeback
I have played this course as far back as when it had 27 holes. The last time I played this course about a year ago I was not very pleased. It seemed the fairways were struggling and the greens certainly left something to be desired.
That being said I was pleasantly surprised by the condition of things this time out. The fairways were considerably better and the greens were great. There was a spot or two that still needed to fill in, but by and large the conditions were more than acceptable.
Nice course for the money
Needs a bit of maintenance on some of the greens, fairways and tee boxes but for the price is about what I expected. Staff was very freindly.
Excellent value!
Greens are in very good condition, as are the sand traps. Tee boxes and fairways coming along after some winter damage. Marsh course the better of the 2 9-holes. Great layout. With just a little more support this course could return to its glory days, and benefit both golfers and the community!
The green are in very good conditions, but the rest need lot of love
Friendly staff, back green was in better shape than the front , but overall a good day of golf, will play again
Great Course Conditions. Friendly Staff!
Michelle in the club house was so nice and had a great music playlist going! The bar was very cool with sports memorabilia everywhere and a serious Masters atmosphere. The course played great, most every fairway had good grass and the greens were smooth, just a little slow. Quite a few leaves out from the recent wind/rain storm. But other than that it was a perfect day on Bluewater Bay, HIGHLY recommend!
Affordable course with above average conditions!
The course overall is under prior year renovation and is currently in above average condition. All putting greens with the exception of one is in excellent conditions, some fairways are better than others and you can tell they are growing back from the prior year renovation. I would highly recommend this course for the cost, location, layout, and excellent pace of play.
First visit and first game with my son
I read this course is trying to make a comeback. This is true. But it was a great trip. Yes. There are improvements needed, but none of you are on the PGA Tour. These courses are dad's, sons and friends to visit and have a good time together and enjoy being outdoors. I rated the pace of play lower because we were being pushed by groups behind. Overall, this is a great course and we will be back.
Diamond In The Rough
This course has vastly improved since I last played it several years ago! Most of the fairways are improved and there are a couple of magnificent views of the bay! Some fairways require improvement along with tee boxes. It appears the greens have been over-seeded. I would definitely recommend playing this course since it is good for the value!
Shaping Up
This course has tremendously improved since last played several years ago! It is evident that the new ownership is making progress on course improvement ! The tee boxes require sprucing up but overall enjoyed the scenic views and the round! Will definitely play this course again!
