Cancun Country Club - El Tinto Golf Course
About
El Tinto Golf Club (formerly known as TPC Cancun) has an environmentally friendly layout that is a popular destination for the PGA Tour. It serves as host to several events throughout the year. When crafting the course, special care was taken to protect the native flora and fauna. As a result El Tinto blends seamlessly into the existing environment. The Nick Price design also utilizes the terrain's natural elevation changes and water features. It's a challenging but fair test with more than 80 strategically placed bunkers and five lakes that come into play throughout. You will encounter some tricky holes but the different sets of tees cater to players of every skill level. El Tinto G.C. is conveniently situated just minutes from all the major area hotels and it's less than a half hour from Playa Del Carmen.

Great course!
It’s a great course if you play from the right tees…. The championship tees stretch out at 7310 yards. Choose wisely and you will have great time. Conditions were pretty solid from tee to green. I will definitely be back when I’m in the area again
Fairway - Greens
Solid layout without any hole standing out above another. Fairways are generous and Greens in perfect shape.
Always a pleasure, but…
This course is beautiful and well designed. The practice area is included and fantastic. Open fairways to reduce lost balls for us average players, but there’s a consistent drawback. The course is always a little wet. If you’re a perfect ball striker, no problem. But for me, I don’t always hit perfectly, so when I take just a bit too much divot on this course, I lose anywhere from 10-40 yards. Divots are always wet and unexpectedly grab your club even though they are shallow.
I’ll definitely go back again, except with this in mind.
In some ways, it’s a challenge that I have to overcome anyway.
A pleasure
I’ve played this course a few times now, and I like it a lot. Long for better golfers, open fairways, well placed bunkers, great course conditions.
Only weird thing was a group of 8 in front of us. Together. On one green. Hitting one at a time.
Cart girl said they were a group. Nothing we could do. But a marshal finally arrived and put a stop to it. The players should have known better and they saw people backing up behind us.
All fixed. 5-1/2 hours for the round due to group of 8.
I’ll definitely go back. Marshal did their job.
Everything was great at the golf course! However the booking said round trip transportation included but we ended up paying for a ride both ways ($65). The course said it was a “GolfNow “ thing and wouldn’t honor it.
Fun course; great layout
Fun course, watch the “hot deals” rate as a huge fee, called a tax is added. My round was an extra 17%. Seems a bit shady on the pricing
January Saturday morning in Cancun
To be honest I picked this course due to the lower cost than other Cancun golf courses. It’s close to the airport so pretty far from the hotel zone and is about 60 bucks. The best part of the course is the greens and the cheap beer on the course. The course is also very long and the course was very wet even though it hadn’t rained in Cancun in 4 days. I believe it was over watered. Also bring a towel! They don’t have any. For a country club this is not a good sign. There were a few large weeds that needed tending but not to bad. Bunkers could have been raked because most of the players not raking. All in all fair for the price in paradise but could be so much better.
Great course
With wide fairways, but long, the course is challenging enough for a high handicapper, without losing a box of balls.
Great place to play golf. Amazing conditions. Felt like I was the only one out there. Cancuns best kept secret in golf.
Challenging course
Enjoyed this course, well laid out. Greens were true but a little slow finished round 3-1/2 hours!
Good price in Cancun
Cheapest in Cancun for the day. No pencils with course logo. Food was too slow.
Nice Course, could use some TLC for a former TPC
The course was nice but a little wet. Facilities could use some upgrades, range balls were decades old and the range was mediocre at best. The course had a nice layout and was relatively easy for a low to mid handicap golfer. It was my first time at this course but will try and find better quality courses for the price.
I do like this course
First off - I’ve played this course many times. This particular time the course was very wet, I know there was a lot rain here recently but this course obviously does not drain particularly well. Many areas on the fairway were soupy soft which definitely made the course ilonger and tougher. Staff was super friendly as always and a very helpful. Overall we had a good day even though we didn’t have particularly good rounds. Will come back because in general I like this course.
Former TPC Course Is Great Fun
In the Cancun area you can pay up to $350 for championship golf, by booking last minute on Golf Now I got just under $100 for a former TPC course. Although the surrounding development appears to have been put on hold and the course amenities no longer high end, the key to this course is that the underlying design is still a terrific Nick Price TPC layout. Greens could be better shape but the rest of the course is maintained. So if you are in Cancun for a while and want to play excellent courses but not break the bank you should try this one. Very long from the tips, I played the Blues (middle) and lots of people play the Whites.
