Super Duper Wicked Awesome

One of the best, if not the best, golf experiences of my life! Everything is amazing. Practice facilities, par 3 Playground, golf course, and staff.

I had, probably, unrealistic expectations before I arrived at the course. Everything about the course and amenities met or exceeded my expectations.

The course is very playable. The course can play pretty easy if you play from the forward tees but move back to the tips and you're in for an adventure. Definitely a second shot course and how good/bad is your short game course?

Special shout out to Matt in the pro shop, Micki in the bar/grill, Ellie at the shack right before the first tee, Kelsey at #12, and Bubba at #12...that man can cook some brisket!!! Devon our caddie was great!!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. We didn't get to stay at the cottages this trip, but we're already planning for the next Bluejack experience!

truly special

So this property housed an existing course that Tiger re-routed and he really didn't have to move to much dirt as it was a beautiful place to begin with. If you live in Houston its as close as you can drive to get some slope and undulation in natural terrain. Everything about Bluejack is special. The layout, the amenities, the staff and especially the conditioning are second to none. Wide open fairways, no ob that realistically comes into play makes it a bombers paradise but BJ is all about the large, fast undulating greens complexes. If you get an opportunity....don't pass it up. Ultra high-end for the privleged few but.....just wow!

Pure bliss

If you can get a chance to play here. YOU HAVE TOO.
Memberships are pricey (95,000 initiation+ 1k/mo)
But if you know a member, you can play with them.

The course is perfect. That's all I have to say.
Nothing bad at all.

Golf, Tiger-style north of Houston

The long-awaited US debut of Tiger Woods golf course design is here. Bluejack National, about an hour north of Houston, lies on the old Blaketree National property. But this is a brand new golf experience, and one that will rival the best private clubs in the state of Texas. The week we saw the course, there were plenty of Champions Tour players checking it out, as well as ex-pro athletes and other well-known folks in the state. The word is certainly getting out about this joint.

So what kind of design is Tiger out to deliver? For starters, you can tip out at over 7,500 yards, and driver is a good play 14 times. Fairways are generous. In fact, there is no rough, just a good amount of sand traps (shaped not unlike Augusta National). The only real water hazards to deal with are on two par 3s and the opening, elevated tee shot that wraps around a large lake.

There are also three short, potentially drivable par 4s, and one of them, the 8th is really difficult. It's a narrow green with bunkers on the left and a steep slope on the right. It took me several shots to get it on the green and I ended up with an 8. If there's a hole where members have a distinct advantage over their guests, it's this one. Greens are also pretty tough, sloping, firm and quick, and I would love a couple rounds on them to get the speed and break down a little better.

But the overall experience is pretty remarkable. The old Blake Cottage, at the 6th hole, is stocked full of sodas, snacks and adult libations. It's a very comfortable old house set under shady pines, and I suspect member rounds may end here once in awhile. On the back nine, there's a cook grilling up barbecue so you can have some smoked meats before playing the Golden Bell-inspired par-3 12th hole. The place personifies luxury, but in a laid-back Texas setting. I'll bet golfers play here barefoot once in awhile. The zoysia fairways certainly allow for it.

It's a really fun walk on some great property, and the design is very interesting from start to finish. Tiger's best days as a golfer are likely in the past, but I'm excited to see his design career unfold.

Tiger Woods' Bluejack National certainly a Masterful experience

Everybody knows about Tiger Woods' fondness for Augusta National, so it's no surprise that his first U.S. design, Bluejack National, is somewhat reminiscent of Augusta. Like Augusta used to be, there's no rough at Bluejack, turf conditions are near perfect, and there's plenty of room to drive the ball. There's also a little bit of elevation change. The ninth, for example, plays uphill, much like the ninth at Augusta, and the 12th with its green configuration, hazard in front and bunkering, might be as difficult as the par-3 12th in Georgia. But this isn't an overly difficult golf course. Play it from the tips, and it's plenty of tough, but you won't lose a ball out here unless you really hit it crooked or lay the sod on a shot over water. With the perfect zoysia fairways, it's hard not to make good contact with players of any kind of skill. The greens, which can run very fast with some difficult slopes, are where this golf course will keep you in check. Approaches that aren’t close to the hole bring in a lot of three-putt opportunities. Even then, this is a special course no matter what you score. And it's a special experience. Food and snacks are available throughout, practice facilities are top notch and service is among the best in the world.
