Very Fun. Excellent Staff

Every staff member we met truly appreciated us being there and worked hard to ensure we were comfortable and had a great time. Special thanks to Derek for explaining the course to us and to the rangers for politely checking on us and bringing around water. A very relaxed, fun vibe. Course is in pristine shape. Definitely some challenging holes, but overall very negotiable layout, even for high handicaps like me.

Nice $$$ course

Great experience from start to end of round. Staff very friendly and course is fair and challenging. Fairways are wider than they look even with all the water on course. Definitely worth the price. Wish the carts had GPS. Would be very helpful.

Poor pace of play scrapped this day of golf

Used to play in 4 hours at my club, we had a wonderful experience up until the back nine,
Beautiful scenery, great test of golf, pristine greens…
And then the group ahead, last of a group of 4 foursomes, realy lost pace of play: they were holing out every putt as they must have been playing for big bucks!
The marshall explained that he was doing is best and apologized,,,
Just lost my concentration for having played in 5 hours, waiting before each and every shot.
For the kind of money asked to play this very nice course, and looking forward to the challenge, at the end a miserable experience.

Quality course

Very enjoyable round with great friends. Some memorable holes, especially back nine. One criticism was the carts which were below standard for this quality of course. Not even a GPS on board. Shame as everything else was A1

Pricey, but worth it!

Played Atlantic Dunes with my wife while on vacation on HHI. I had heard and read all of the accolades of this course, and it didn't disappoint. Top notch all around. The course conditions were awesome, can't think of any negatives. We played 4 different courses this week and Atlantic Dunes was our favorite. Pace of play was good; we came in at 4:10 with an 8:06 tee time If you don't want to pay for Harbour Town, come here for a great round.

Fun and interesting layout

This course was a ton of fun. The layout was great but tricky. A TON of white stakes that haunt you the entire round. Overall a great time and would play it 10 times over.

Outstanding Layout

Atlantic Dunes at Sea Pines is a great resort course if you don’t mind the cost. Prices have increased over the years and it’s not a cheap round. I think the rate is currently $189. But resort guests got $10 off and we had a $100 resort voucher to make it more manageable. I’m not sure it’s a $200 course. But it’s definitely a $100 course.
The course has always been in good condition when I have played there. Today I played 2 days after a tropical storm came through. And other than the bunkers being taken out of play you would have never known it. As a result of the storm it was cart path only. Which slower play some. But we still finished in under 4.5 hours. The course is generally pretty tight. And there is a good bit of water and sand. Although the forced carries are minimal. But unless you are really good you better bring 2 sleeves Bc there is a good deal of water to find. And if you miss the fairway you ball in generally gone. The greens are pretty big and roll really good. They don’t seem to break as much as you think but they are in nice shape. I played from the blue tees Bc the group I was with wanted to. They are about 6500 yards which is a little long for me. But I’m about an 18 handicap and shot 93. So not far off. It helps to have played the course before. Bc there are some hidden hazards and lines from the tee you wouldn’t know otherwise.
Number 1 is a short straight away par 4. About 340 yards. Water left and right of a decent sized fairway. With a big green.
2 is a lot like 1 but a hair longer. With water right and a row of bunkers left.
3 is a medium length par 3 with water right and short
4 is a long dogleg left par 5 with a big waste bunker on the left and a pond on the left of your layup.
5 is a shorter par 4. With a waste bunker on the right and an off angle from the fairway to the green with water and bunkers left of the green.
6 is a long dogleg right par 4. It’s a tough hole.
7 is a long par 3. 196 from the blues today. But there isn’t much trouble on it. And I birdied it today.
8 is a pretty tight straight away par 4 and longer than I remember it being.
9 is a great hole. Huge bunker left of a tight fairway. With a big green surrounded by water right and behind.
10 is a medium length par 3 with water short and left.
11 is a short really tight par 4. It looks simple. But it’s given me trouble the last two times I remember.
12 is a medium length dogleg right par 4. It’s a good chance at par.
13 is a medium length par 4 with water right that cuts across the fairway just short of the green.
14 is a long dogleg left par 5. It plays pretty tough.
15 is a medium length par 3 playing right out towards the ocean. You can catch a glimpse of the ocean from the green. I birdied it as well. So that was cool.
16 is a short hard dogleg right par 4. It’s easy to hit it in the bunker through the fairway. Even with a 3 wood.
17 is a long straight par 5 with water down the entire right side.
18 is a lot like 17. Long straight away par 4 with water down the right.
The course is marked by several weird angles from tee to fairway or fairway to green. So that makes it challenging for the average golfer. But if you’re on vacation and don’t mind splurging for a great course give it a try. The staff is very friendly. Customer service is great and range balls are included and they have several stations with water and ice on the course.

Fun Davis Love Track. Lots of Water

Atlantic Dunes in Hilton Head, SC is a Davis Love III design/redesign. Atlantic Dunes is a pure fun experience. The course has an upbeat fun energy to it. The first hole gives you an overall idea of the experience on the course, a narrow strip of land flanked by water on both sides, this course has a fairly high number of water hazards (14 out of 18 Holes). The conditions were great the course was fun and challenging and not brutal.No. 15 gives you a beautiful view of the Atlantic and the hole is fun with almost an island green in sand feel. If in Hilton Head, make your way over to this course and have a fun experience and maybe bring an extra sleeve of balls.

Hilton Head must!

This was a great experience. This is a world class facility in a beautiful resort, Sea Pines. Not having had a chance to play Harbor Town because it's out of my price point, I would put Atlantic Dunes as my top course in Hilton Head. Our caddy, Alex, was awesome. He talked me out of the ledge by recommending I would play from the white tees and I'm so glad he did. If you can hit driver 250+ yards then you can do the blues. This course was tough all throughout, especially most of the back nine. Pro tip: make sure to bring cash to pay the entrance fee to get into Sea Pines, I didn't and lost time from the practice facility.

Best course on the island

This was my first time playing and was not disappointed. Staff was courteous and helpful. The driving range, practice areas, pro shop and bar were great. The course was in fabulous condition with fast and true greens and a layout that was challenging but not impossible even for an average golfer. Pace of play was just fine - slightly over 4 hours even with a little waiting on the front nine. It was pretty pricey, but that’s what you should expect from a course like this, and the experience was worth the money. I’ll be back!

Great Resort Course

Played Atlantic Dunes while on vacation with the family today. They had just punched the greens a couple of weeks ago, but for the most part other than being a bit slow they were in good shape. If the greens had not been punched I would have rated it 5 stars. They should be back to normal in a week or so. The rest of the course is in perfect condition. Check in was easy and friendly. Range balls were included in the price, which I thought was a little high, but while on vacation, what the heck. The course plays moderately tough, and although there is only 1 hole on the ocean it is close enough that the breeze in constantly swirling, gusting, and affecting your play. The course is a good mix of holes, some long, some short, some doglegs each way. For the most part each hole is pretty memorable. There is a good bit on water in play, mainly on the sides of the holes. #1 is a straight away short to medium length par 4, water all the way
the right. #2 is a longer straight away par 4 with more water down the right but also alot of bunkers lining the left of the fairway. #3 is a medium length par 3 with water in play short and right. #4 is a big sweeping dogleg left par 5. Pond on the left with your second shot. I really dont remember #5. 6 is a hard dogleg right par 4. The locals I was playing with all tried to take it over the tree on the right edge. This left them a much shorter shot. 7 was a medium length par 3. 8 a shorter par 4 that felt really tight with OB right and cart path left. 9 was a long par 5, again that felt tight with OB right and a huge bunker on the left and a peninsula green. 10 was a shorter par 3 with water on the left. 11 was the shortest par 4 on the course, but again it felt really right with OB right and trees left. 12 was a sweeping dogleg right par 4. I dont really remember 13. 14 is another big sweeping dogleg left par 5. The green is surrounded left and long by nasty bunkers and thick weeds. 15 is the Ocean Hole although to be honest, you have to stand on your tiptoes to see it. I made a par on it which was cool. Especially considering it was a 2 club wind in your face. 16 is a dogleg right par 4 that required something less than driver off the tee. 17 is a long par 5 with water down the right. and 18 was a good finishing hole being a long par 4 with water tight to the right. All in all its a great course. Very beautiful, and great customer service. Its expensive.....but you get what you pay for. So if your on vacation its worth is to splurge and play a round.

Beautiful Course

Where to start. The staff was excellent upon arrival, from the bag drop, to the pro shop, to the range, to the starter and Marshall’s. Range was a bonus to warm up and their facilities are 2nd to none. Tee’s were in great shape. Fairways, traps and greens all in good shape. This course is more money than other public courses on the island, but worth the expense. By far, my favourite course on the island. Lots of water and traps, forcing you to position yourself in preparation for your approach shots. For a challenge play either the blue or black tee blocks, for those long hitters. You won’t be disappointed playing here. Great experience.

Outstanding Course in an Outstanding Location!

I played the original Ocean Course several times and loved it, so I was concerned when Sea Pines Resort completely renovated this course (via Davis Love III) and it emerged as Atlantic Dunes. But the new course is outstanding!
Fantastic layout, great diversity of holes, and superb playing conditions. Several holes allow for multiple playing options and strategies, which makes it fun. The four closing holes are tough - be sure to make the proper club selections when playing into the ocean wind on 15 and around the dogleg on 16. The best part may be the location - Sea Pines Resort and all it has to offer. The new Plantation Club clubhouse and restaurant (Fraser's) are excellent. Great staff - great food - great location. Plus, the new Sea Pines Beach Club is just across street with two great restaurant options (plus bar and lounge) overlooking the ocean. Everything is top notch.

Awesome Course - Great Condition

I have played Atlantic Dunes many times and each time a have a great time and I love the course.
Atlantic Dunes is an awesome course. I played five other courses on this trip, and this was definitely one of the best. The course was in great condition.
The layout is great as well. There are some very challenging holes with plenty of water and bunkers. However, none of the holes are unfair or tricked up, simply difficult and challenging.
Overall, the price tag is much higher than most courses in Hilton Head. The price is the only drawback about the course. You can play similarly challenging and similarly conditioned courses for about 1/2 of 3/4 the price of Atlantic Dunes. However, Atlantic Dunes one of the nicest course around that the public can get on.

Great Overall

Very well maintained golf course (almost as nice as Harbour Town) and some very fun / challenging holes. Of course, the postcard-worthy 15th hole certainly adds to the experience.

Pace of play was pretty poor. We waited on every hole from the get-go and finished just over 5 hours.
