Poor Greens, but a descent course.
Beautiful weather and very nice lunch in the clubhouse made up for pretty bad green conditions. Tee boxes and fairways were in good shape, rough a little deep, but the greens were hard as marble and had lots of repairs and bald spots.
Badly manicured
The "greens", were "browns", the fairways were full of bare spots and holes, the tee boxes uneven and dirt rather than grass, the rough was less smooth than most cow pastures.
Either manicure the course or close it!
We played Lone Tree in Antioch at noon as a foursome and finished in about 4 hours.
Weather was great, slight breeze, and course conditions were typical California with some bare spots.
Lone tree has Bermuda greens on 4 holes which appear brown and are fast.
Elevated greens and lots of trees and sand, make it
challenging but playable.
Worth the drive.
Proceed with caution
Lone tree is a great course for those who need a little extra space on either side of the fairway. I like going to this course but I do think that it needs a good amount of maintenance. At least three of the greens looked so dead that the “grass” was completely dead. Other than the greens mentioned the facilities are very good and with a great restaurant for after round meal. I do plan on returning but I do hope that the green situation gets fixed.
We played Lone Tree in Antioch at noon as a foursome and finished in four hours.
The weather was great, course greens were generally in good condition, three greens are re-done with
Bermuda grass and are currently dormant (brown).
Elevated greens, mature trees, adequate sand traps
make the course challenging but doable.
On line players, don't show up early, they will not
let you out.
Worth the drive.
We played Lone Tree in Antioch at noon as a
foursome and finished in about 4.5 hours.
The course had some bare spots, but overall the
greens were in good condition. Newer greens are
Kentucky blue grass and are brown this time of
year. We labeled getting on the "brown" instead of
getting on the green.
The course is well layed out with elevated greens
some hillside locations, mature trees and views of
water and hills.
Definitely worth the drive, but on line golfers should not show up early, they won't let you out.
Poor maintained course
Greens and fairways are really bad. The amount of money they charge especially morning's, its not worth it. Also the prices for range balls seems to be going up and up. $12 for a large size and balls are old with scuffs etc.
Howling Wind Great Test of Skills
This was my first time playing the course and was my fourth round in as many days with a good friend visiting from Chicago. I really enjoyed the variety of holes and undulation of the greens. The wind and dry conditions made putting a real test of skill but we enjoyed the round and would definitely bring other visitors to play in the future. A few "greens" on the back were so bad that I'm suprised you even were allowing play on them. The overall value was fair and the staff was very welcoming. It was also good to see the beverage cart as the wind made us parched as well.
Good Old Muni
Overall good experience. While a 4-5 greens were a mess staff working on them, the overall conditions were good. Tasty lunch, good range, attentive staff.
Great value
As a newer golfer everyone is so nice and understanding. Makes me stick with this lovely game when the frustrations mount.
Pace of play
Course conditions were good considering the time of year. There could have been better course management. We arrived early and could have tee'd off ahead of time; there was a huge gap when the first tee was totally open. Pace of play turned out ok.
Great Bang for the $
Played at twilight on a Wednesday. I was able to finish 18 with no problems. I agree with other reviews that some of the greens are in need of work. The course layout and facilities are really nice. The staff were very nice. The course needs some TLC, but for the money is was a good value. I will be back.
Lone tree on Monday
For the most part the cost was great, but the course needs a little help. There are some green that are under repair and are brown with lots of divets. Still any day playing golf is better then going to work.
Pace of play
Due to the course having not one but two tournaments going on in the early morning, the pace of play was very poor. Our group started almost 30 minutes after our scheduled tee time. By the time we finished the 9th hole the pace was so slow that we decided to end our day due to us realizing that it would be a very lond day out and/or the fact that we may not finish the full 18 holes before the sun went down. At the start the cashier told us that the course was behind schedule only 10 minutes. This whole review would have been alot better if the afternoon pace of play was better. But then again I normally play the early morning times due to this issue. This was one of those rare moments where we just wanted to get a quick round in. But little did we know that was not going to happen. Don’t get me wrong, everything about the couse I like. From playing to the clubhouse it’s great. Just the pace of play disappointed me.
Greens were terrible, they would half to make a lot of improvement to play again. That’s to bad because I really in joy playing there.
