Challenging
The 13th tee box is 400 yards away from my house but I seldom play here. It wasn't until tonight that I had a real change of heart. Dry Creek was underwater this last winter from the large-scale flooding in the area. They have since recovered and quite nicely I might add. Chris, the owner, is incredibly friendly and accommodating and he's doing good work in making Dry Creek a gem in south Sac County. This is without question one of the most challenging courses you'll find in the area. The fairways are narrow and there are trees everywhere. Some people don't like that I guess, but I'm perfectly happy with the challenge. For instance, I'm a 19 handicap and I shot a 104 tonight and I couldn't be happier. The downside however are the greens. They are pretty much awful. Very unforgiving, soft and slow, and riddled with dead spots. If you can ignore that aspect of it and accept all 2-putts, then you'll be as happy as I was tonight. It's a great course notwithstanding and they've come a long way.
Now, there are some other downsides as well. The course is split by a freeway so the 11th isn't much fun. The pro-shop is cluttered, antiquated and staffed by an old codger who doesn't much care for newcomers (it seems). I haven't been inside the bar since 2015 so I can't speak to that. But none of that bothers me much. What really bugs me is the green fees. Expect to pay $45-$50 to ride 18. Standard pricing, right? Well remember what I said about the greens?
So I will continue to play Dry Creek so long as I can get the Hot Deal and get out there for $18. Dry Creek, I hope in the coming years, will only improve and become popular enough to drive down the cost.
Dry Creek Ranch Golf
This course id very long with sand, trees, and creeks strategically placed. It is a good test of your golfing ability.
Overpriced and. Low Quality
Greens were overly watered, tee boxes were terrible, many holes had trees that made approach shots impossible. Layout is nice and I feel for them because they got so much damage during the winter storms. Go to Castle Oaks and play a beautiful course in great condition for less money. $55 is WAY too much to pay Dry Creek.
Relaxed and Affordable
Took my wife out for 9 this morning during prime time. I was nervous to say the least regarding holding groups up….
Not a single issue!
Let a 3-some play through on 2 and completed our 9 in time for a relaxing lunch. Such a great morning.
Course is in great shape and play is fast.
Improved
Yes, this isn’t the nicest course in the region but, you know what? It’s improving all the time.
It’s affordable and fun. What else can you ask for?
Challenging but a relaxing atmosphere makes for a great round no matter your skill level. It plays how you want to play.
19th hole restaurant has everything you’d need.
Recommend giving this place a try!!! Beautiful right now. Absolutely in great shape.
Green and lush
Great atmosphere and conditions. I can usually walk this course in 3 hours midweek, which is nice given the hot days of summer here in the valley. A refreshing beer at the turn and meal afterwards at the 19th makes for a great evening. Try the Korean short ribs, amazing.
I always have a good time and this course tunes my game up. Shaping shots is a must to score well and makes it fun for where I am skill wise.
Extremely friendly staff that cares and are working hard to make your time enjoyable.
Making a Great Recovery from floods.
The course is in very good condition, considering the flooding this winter.
The layout forces you to play many different shots both off the Tee and into the greens because of the mature trees, lakes and dog legs.
A very challenging course.
The driving range is in rough condition, but always has been.
Oncourse rest rooms need help too.
The course conditions continue to improve daily, and I will return to play again. (1 hr. drive for me)
Great golf
Round of golf was great. Bathrooms located both on the front and back of course. Would be nice to have a snack cart on course. Since the flooding this year access to the 18th green was washed out, so it was hard to get to by by foot. I hope the course have plans to fix.
Thank you for your feedback. Yes we are planning to redo the 18 bridge once the creek stops flowing. Hope to see you back soon.
No homes 400 yards away from 13th tee box. Only place close is off 99 and Liberty Rd. High School use to practice there but, owner is not friendly so the both high school teams had to move. Now they have to travel to Emerald Lakes to practice. No residential rate. Drive by and look how empty the parking lot is.
