No more difficult marshals please!
SkyWest is a good muni course. The location is convenient and it's a good value. I have played this course countless times and sure, it's not perfect, but I have never felt the need to write a review about the small shortcomings. That is no longer the case after the unpleasant (I'll keep it civil) experience today. To begin, the course raised the price on the monthly pass without any prior notice to its' customers (I receive regular emails from the course). I have no problem with supporting the local public courses, but a little heads up would be nice. The conditions were below average (for what I've seen of this course) as some of the bunkers were just bare (hit 1in and you've bottomed out). The worse part of my round was dealing with the unruly marshal that kept bothering me throughout my round. He apparently doesn't greet people when you greet him. He didn't speak to me with a respectful tone. He either went straight to a command or it was a question. I was having a decent round, but he completely ruined the rest of my golf for the day. I mean, what gives? I was quite upset after my round, but I didn't storm into the pro shop asking for an apology or anything. I have no explanation to why he treated me the way he did, but I truly hope Hayward parks and rec. dept. can do something about it (maybe a refresher training on manners and job responsibilities for the marshals?)
Closed
This course is closed for over 3 months. I don't know why Golfnow is selling resrvations.
The course is completely CLOSED!
This course was closed six months ago, but suddenly appeared in Golf Now as available. It is completely shut down! There are no tee times, no greens, trees on fairways, and nothing has been watered in six months. The facilities are being used for Covid-19 testing. Save your time.
Get your act togethet
Course was and has been closed for COVID and yet I got a tee time oct 1. 7:45. Had to get up at 6am
35 minute drive. Not HAPPY AT ALL
STILL trees not removed
After 2+ weeks and 2 holes have downed trees . One
blocks the par 5 fairway, turned into a par 3. The other has a tree laying in the par 3 sand trap... other trees have been cut up and stacked for removal. Last year the course was a 4+ noe more like a 3. The clubroom
closes early, like 5pm. So no 19th hole drinks/eats.
Weather worn
I've played Skywest for years. Saturday was one of the windiest days I'ven found there. A few weeks ago we had a good windstorm (for California). At least 10 fallen trees were on the course. Some blocked cart paths etc. One hole was actually shortened as three trees remained across the fairway. I later heard that the course will be closing by October. Pace of play was typical (slow) for a nice weekend. Took us 5.5 hrs to get through. Fairways were generally in decent shape. Some greens were better than others. Staff, as usual, were friendly and accommodating. The bar was well stocked but closed earlier than expected. Skywest is a nice track but it's wide open and flat grounds made for a tough day in heavy wind. I'll be back to play it again before it closes.
course needs better upkeep
Downed trees from 10 days ago still laying in the fairways. You would think the course would have at least chopped them up and have them stacked out of the fairway. The fairways were a little long. Tee boxes were OK, the greens were good. Played mid week and with little hold ups... as many tee times went unfulfilled. 30
with cart is OK if the course had the trees gone and mowed the fairways alittle better. Perfect day 60 and clear.
Challenging Pin Placements
Do to the recent Wind Event this last weekend the course lost 40+ trees. So they made the pin placements even more of a challenge. Be prepared. The tree clean up process will probably take 3-4 weeks to clean up. This does Not mean the course is not playable. Just more of a challenge.
Great Time Out at the Sky
Perfect weather. The greens slight mucky soil. Prepare to wipe your ball most holes. Never the less. Excellent greens. The putting opportunities are a good challenge
good course
i love this course, is it really closing? hope not!
After rains
Even though it was cart path only it was still a good time
球场邻近机场,布局很紧凑,球道比较平缓开阔,难度不大。迎着起飞的飞机打球的感觉超棒,最后一洞还抓到了小鸟。
GOLF CLUBS STOLEN - HIGH CRIME LOCATION!!!!!!
We had our golf cart with 2 sets of clubs, purse, cell phone and car keys stolen on the 7th hole. The staff didn't react well and called the parks department instead of the police. Come to find out there is all sorts of vandalism, thefts, etc. and this came as no surprise to anyone except me. Why don't they put up some signs indicating their is a crime threat??? Not a sole from the golf course has reached out to me about this situation and I am a regular player there. SHAME ON YOU SKYWEST!!!
