Indian Wells Country Club - The Cove Course

Rode the Blacks (6537/71.1/125) in 2.5H twilight as a single. Sunny, calm and around 107. Several holes are tight and somewhat quirky on this layout. Definitely prefer the Classic course. Small greens are the norm. Not a memorable layout, but it's fun to play.

COVID-19. Check in @ pro shop from afar. Restaurant and clubhouse closed. All on course water stations shut off, but bathrooms open. No rakes, divot mix or ice chests on the basic carts.

Tees lush and well maintained.

Fairways lush and nice to play from.

Rough lush and about 2-3".

Traps had good quality sand and were well raked.

Small greens rolled well. Firm, medium fast bordering on fast downhill and they were smooth. Few ball marks, because of their firmness balls would release. They are still working on the fringes, so numerous holes had a plug ring around the green.

Excellent customer service from all encountered, especially Paul in the pro shop and the Marshall Darrell. No Drink cart this afternoon. Basic carts do not have GPS. All grass range good complementary balls. Fun

Rode the Blacks (6537/71.1/125) in 2H, 45M playing with Greg mid day. Sunny, calm and 110, enough said.

COVID-19: Clubhouse closed. Pro shop only open to pay from a distance. 1 rider to a cart, ice/water stations on course closed. Ice chests and divot mix bottles removed. Cups raised but ball can sometimes go in. Masks only now required while checking in and if around other people on the course.

Rough semi lush, thick and about 2", good POP rough.

Traps had good quality sand and were well raked.

Small greens rolled great even though they had been recently spiked. Firm, medium fast and they were smooth. Few ball marks, because of their firmness balls would release. They were punching the fringes as we played, which caused issues if you were trying to run anything onto the green with all the plugs.

Excellent customer service from all encountered. Very friendly Marshall Darrell around numerous times just checking if everyone had water in the heat. Basic carts do not have GPS. All grass range was adequate and had good complementary balls. Tight in spots but not a tight layout overall. Not a great layout, but a fun one to play. Recommended.

Rode the Blacks (6537/71.1/125) using Club Corp in 3.5H. Matched up with Jeff and Meg, very fun couple from Fla. Overcast, breezy and in the low 70's, 1-2 club wind especially on the back.

Tees lush and excellently maintained.

Rough lush, thick and mowed down to 2", good POP rough. I was able to hit 4 irons out of this rough w/o issue.

Traps had good quality sand. A little firmer than I would prefer to see greenside, but well maintained.

Better than average course in near immaculate condition, Recommended.

Rode the Blacks (6537/71.1/125) using Club Corp in 4H. Matched up with 3 nice out of staters. Sunny, calm and in the 70's made for great golfing weather.

Tight in spots but not a tight layout overall. Small greens were the norm. Not a memorable layout, but it was fun to play.

Traps had good quality sand and were well raked. However, they needed to be churned, they had adequate sand but about 1" down they were consistently hard even though it was sand you were hitting.

Small greens rolled great. Firm, medium fast bordering on fast and they were smooth. Few ball marks, because of their firmness balls would release.

I was able to play both courses in 1 day at Indian Wells and it was the chance of a lifetime. Wow! Every single person was wonderful. Thank you!
