Greens Need Some Love
Other than the greens, the course is in great shape and plays very well. However, when it comes to the putting surfaces, I'm not sure what is going on...for the most part they are very rough and seem pretty beat up.... I believe there are too many golfers that don't bother to fix ball-marks, or just plain do not know how??? It may also tribe that the underlayment is in need of some work, as it seems that many of the ball-marks have stripped off the grass and left a soft, muddy spot. It's too hard underneath the surface and balls are "skimming" instead of leaving a "normal" ball-mark. I've been playing this course for over 3 years now and it seems that this summer has been hardest on the putting surfaces and they need serious help. Other than that, the sand, or whatever it is in the traps and bunkers, also needs serious attention. We are in southern California and I would think the sand would be soft and fluffy. Nope.. soggy, hard, and sometimes even sloppy-wet in the bottoms, enough where you can get splashed trying to get under the ball and use the sand as normal.. I had two sand shots today where my just club bounced off the surface in front of the ball and I sent my ball almost to the next tee.. I can understand damp after a rainstorm, but I think the sprinklers are just not positioned well enough to try to minimize how much water goes in... or, the drainage needs serious work. Don't get me totally wrong here though... I really enjoy this course... it has some things that need work, and most every course has its issues,, Time and good maintenance practices will make a huge difference here and I will continue to play here.. And, maybe with some focused effort by having someone physically watching the greens and then reinforcing ball-mark repair ettiquet through in-person training right there on the green??? Just a thought...;
Very nice coarse!
Greens are hard to read but the course is excellent! Nice driving range too!
avg. track
The greens were excellent. Fairways and boxes were spotty, will think twice before going again.
The Vinyard Escondido
Under 4hr round...course in good shape, other than a few bunkers.
Worth it
It’s about a 30 ish minute drive from me so I don’t make it out that often, but when I do it usually does not disappoint. This was my first time out in moooonths and my first time back in about a year or so. Everyone was friendly, tried getting out an hour early but there was no space and I could see why. The greens were in awesome shape, rolling nicely. Everything else seemed to be okay except the bunkers. I was able to snap a deal time so I was really happy about the cost with a cart. I was thinking it would be a 4.5-5hr round but we ended up finishing at exactly 3hrs and 45 minutes. I usually play solo, and seem to run into other solo players of all ages and experience. Always a pleasant time at the vineyard.
Use to be SOOOO nice
I used to play this course often but have not been there in a couple of years It is a good layout but needs help the fairway's are just ok the bunkers need some sand the greens wont hold anything.
But they have installed Trackman or something similar not sure which one cause the only open mats did not have them installed.
If you can get out there for 50-60 I guess it;s not so bad but not worth anything more
The Vinyard
Course is in excellent shape, sand in bunkers, staff very nice, greens good, Good french fries.
Wet winter has taken a toll on course conditions
After a wet week in the area no surprise to see soggy conditions and cart path only was to be expected. What was surprising is how the tee boxes were torn up with divots making it very difficult to get a level stance and lie. I could understand the par 3 tee boxes being that way, but this was noteworthy throughout the course.
It’s a great facility (practice areas and clubhouse) with nice views, but the wet winter has taken a toll on course conditions.
Just Fair
I am a 6 handicap, fairways are in very bad conditions, greens are good. The lay out is fair. Playing from the blue tee is ok. We quit at the 15th hole because the pace was horrible 4:30 hours and still 3 hole to go and was pretty cold.
Provably playing during the week the pace is better but any way the fairways are in very bad condition.
I am not coming back.
Cart path only today...Bunkers need attention tion, as always.
The Vinyard Escondido
