The Club at Savannah Harbor
About
The Club at Savannah Harbor is steeped in Southern charm, offering dramatic views that span from the surrounding wetlands of the Back River to Savannah's famous Historic District. Sam Snead and Bob Cupp designed the golf course. Their ultimate goal was to bring to life the philosophy of "risk and reward." For example, a well executed shot placed near a hazard is rewarded with less club to the green or a better approach angle, or even both. The putting surfaces have gentle transitions to different pin locations, making them more traditional than modern. The designers incorporated another classic design element, the greens have subtle roll-offs or collars that fall away, a feature of golf courses from the 1930s and 40s. Golfers can also use the club's large, duel-ended practice facility.

17th hole par 3. 175yards Photo submitted by dabitters on 11/27/2012
Fair but challenging course and great value!
It was my first time playing the Harbor Club and it was a great experience. The staff were friendly at check-in and at the first tee. The course was in great condition despite being hard with the recent hurricane. The greens were running about 10 on the stimp and smooth. Overall a very fair and playable course for all skill levels. The long, 660 yard par-5, 7th hole is a gem! If you are in the area or passing through as we were, its a must play!
Not worth the money
The greens were really bad. It’s great they have a good driving range and people to help you with your cart and golf bag, but how about take one or two of those guys and work on those greens? I can manage my bag on my own. It’s just not worth paying all that to see my ball bouncing around the green on a simple straight putt. A municipal course is better. Sorry but it’s true. Save your money.
All good except……
Always love playing Savannah Harbor. Love the layout and the variety of holes. Unfortunately, the greens were very bumpy with bad patches throughout. This is unusual for this previously pristine course. I can only guess that they had a rough spring weather wise. Overall, a good experience and I am sure the greens will grow in soon.
Worst greens ever
How do you spend millions of dollars on renovating the greens just for them to become worse than they were before the renovation. The rest of the course is in good shape but non of that matters when you have 5 3-5 foot putts you miss because your ball hits a crater and goes 3 inches offline. Take your money to Hilton Head until they get the greens figured out.
Club at Savnnah..
nice course, well layed out, pace was great.never felt pushed.... only negative..greens were rough..
Not as good as last year
I played this course last year at this time and it was in great condition. This year some of the greens had poanna grass in them and several greens were covered in ball pitch marks making putting difficult. I’ve never seen greens like this in all my years playing different courses. It looks like the balls killed the grass where they landed on the greens.
Good course
Slow play hampered some of the enjoyment of this course. A Marshall finally showed up at the 17th hole, a little too late. God course, would recommend.
Golf should not take 5 1/2 hours
Quit after 14 holes and 4 1/2 hours. On the 10th hole there was a group on the green, one in the fairway,, one on the tee and my group was also on the tee with a group right behind us. 5 groups all within the sight of the starter and pro shop.
We never saw a marshall volunteer..
Maybe they should consider 10 minute tee times rather than trying to pack the course with 7/8 minute starting times.
Nice course layout, but inconsistent greens
Really enjoyed playing this Sam Snead design right across from downtown Savannah. Overall the course was in pretty good shape, and the routing was very interesting. Just has some issues where a different blend of grass is coming through in patches on some of the greens, causing for some inconsistent rolls. Overall a nice day of golf!
Law
We have played this course many times, always fun and great condition, the greens weren’t as good as usual, but rolled very well. Staff really nice and helpful.
Not worth the money
Greens were bumpy and still not coming in great from redoing them 2 years ago. Way too expensive for what it is.
You got me a great deal, I don’t think paying there posted price is in my ballpark.
It was a great course, had a great deal. Otherwise it's in the higher price bracket for me. Not that I can’t afford it but I prefer sticking with the mid range courses. I played this course because I stay on Tybee Island for the winter. Back home, I pay a little over eleven hundred for the season, that’s a single membership that includes cart and all the play I want. The guys I play with like going out of town to different courses, so hopefully I’ll be using your services much more..
Wonderful Day
We loved playing this course it was well worth the trip from HHI The staff was friendly and professional made us feel glad that we joined them for the day The pass of play was excellent just under 4 hours the course was in pretty good shape for the time of year
A fine experience!
Credit for this course design goes Bob Cupp & Sam Snead. Cupp Is renowned for his work on Lowcountry courses. This is a quality design… a Troon property. If I am not mistaken, that is connected to the Westin hotel along the Savannah river. Practice facilities are nothing short of amazing from the two ended 400 yard driving range and the short game area nearby to the spacious and suddenly contoured putting green directly in front of the pro shop. there is a nice mix of dog legs and straightaway holes. distances on the Par threes are nicely varied. Tees and greens are very well-maintained. Watch out for the snakes and gators. I saw no snakes, but at least five alligators just chillin’ By the ponds Throughout the course. Pace of play was good. We finished in about three hours 50 minutes. Except for the Westin., Most of the hotel properties are on the other side of the Savannah river, but there is a convenient, free ferry That discharges passengers at the Westin, leaving a walk of about 3/10 of a mile to the course. I would recommend this course to all of my friends who enjoy a scenic, challenging, round of golf.
Very nice course
The course is in good shape and very playable. The staff was friendly and efficient. The range was in good shape. Will definitely be back
