Cypress Lakes aka. The Hay Field
My wife and I arrived 45 minutes prior to our 8:56 a.m. tee time. As my wife readied for her game I went into the Pro shop and checked us in. Sharon at the front desk was very pleasant and professional. After finally getting a key that worked (1st key was for a different model cart), I went back to the car loaded the clubs, changed my shoes, I went back to the pro shop to get a granola bar and discovered that the cart we were in had a very low right rear tire. After changing carts we were off. (10 min early).
Well the shock soon set in. The fairways had been recently mowed and the cut grass that was everywhere, reminded me of a "Hay Field" that had not been baled yet. The fairway roughs were at least 6 inches deep and so thick we lost several balls that were no more than a foot or two off the fairways, so hit it straight down the middle or your doomed. The greens were recently sanded, but not in too bad of shape.
There wrer several very wet sections of the course with standing water or marsh like roughs from the heavy rains that had ended a week prior to our game. All in all, it was a golf date I would like to forget.
Can't beat the price
Great price on the hot deal, great prices on food and drinks. A legit course that will challenge you. Enjoy
Challenging but enjoyable course
Course condition looking very good. Great prices too and course is maintained well. As good as more expensive courses around the area. Easy to walk the course too as it is a flat course.
wet course today
The course has a good layout but do to the rain earlier only the back 9 was open and it was cart path only and there was small puddles of water on the course and a lot of water in the grass.
Nice neighborhood golf course
The course is now a green wonderland. The recent rains have made the grass lush on the fairways and around the greens, including the browned and bald areas between the fairways. The problem is that the grass cuttings stick to one's shoes and all over the clubhead.
Poor poor playing conditions
Horrible conditions when you can't find your ball hit a foot off of the fairway an that was every hole. Borderline unplayable. Frustrating an hoghly disappointed.
Good beginner course
Decent maintenance, Nice open layout good for beginners but plenty of bunkers around the greens. Great for walking, no hills.
Good course
I don't have any experience as this was my first time ever golfing a round, but it's good for a beginner I guess. I golfed nine holes and didn't lose my ball once so that was good. It was just the right amount of challenge.
Nice neighborhood golf course
Great course to hone one's game for amateurs like me. The layout poses obstacles to employ all the clubs in the bag. From the tee: driver at the par 5's wide fairways, 3 wood at several dogleg holes, precise iron play at well bunkered greens, and a par 3 that requires hitting over water.
A good practice round of golf
This course had so many mature trees along the fairways. Better drive the golf ball in the center of the fairways, otherwise you will have a lot of trouble. Hitting fairways is the key in mind.
A practice round of golf
Money wise speaking, it’s worth to practice.
The course is pretty much challenging, lot of water hazards and trees along the fairways.
Anyway we had fun out there.
Mr. Papajohn,
I am sorry to see that you have decided to give our course a 1 star rating even though you stated that the staff was "very pleasant and professional" and that the fairways had been recently mowed. You also stated the there was very wet sections on the course from the "heavy rains" the week prior. The grass clipping and the roughs being so deep was because of the "heavy rains" the week prior. With all the rain we received there was no way to mow the fairways or the roughs until they dried out or we would have damaged the golf course and possibly the equipment.
Again, I'd like to apologize for the course conditions and to let you know that this is not the typical conditions of the course. I hope you come back and give our course another try.
Sincerely,
Jessie A. Walker, PGA
