Nice views
Good test. The two bunker's I was in had very little sand in them. Overall great course.
When I arrived at the course I showed the person behind the counter my online hot deal which included cart & that's what I paid for online. When he told me I was part of another group, I told him I put down I was playing as a single. He then told me he would have to charge me for another cart. My receipt from my online booking clearly stated cart included. The group didn't show up, so I played as a single like I indicated online. Maybe the counter person was new, because I've never had that problem in the past. Especially when your playing at 1:30 p.m. in the afternoon.
Bunch of crooks
Blue Rock Golf Course got some of their carts stolen from their garage, so they decide to institute a $10 deposit for cart rental without informing you that you will forfeit it if you don’t return the key and receipt. Yeah, they’ll say it’s posted at check in, but who reads all the posting while checking in? You’re trying to get to the first hole. What does the deposit do to prevent their carts from being stolen at the barn? It just adds frustration to those who normally returns the cart where they belong after play and forget to return the key with the receipt. Nothing happened to the cart after it was returned, or we would have received a call from the course since we signed for the cart with our telephone number. We had a receipt that we gave our $10 that we presented during check-in the next day. It was given in good faith, but they decided to punish you by keeping your money. We didn’t steal your f****ng carts!!!! It’s not the money, it’s the way it was dealt with! Bad customer service…,
They should have checked with other courses that asked for cart deposits on how it worked for them. They did not last because of the hassles. They just lost loyal players to other courses. This is probably one of the reasons you are going. Goodbye Blue Rock!!
Great course
Staff was not happy that we should up to our tee time 30 minutes early with a 6:30 tee time.
If you don’t want people warming up that early, don’t allow us to book that early.
This course has tall grass and weed grass
Course is ok, does NOT drain well. Off fairway is thick and unkept.
Did not see one Marshall all day. Course play on the scorecard is 4hrs for early morning, which was our tee time (7am).
The tee time was delayed from the start, 10 minutes late. No starter to get people moving, no Marshalls to hold groups to the 4hr pace expectation. Our 4-some waited at every hole, finishing on the tails of the group ahead in just over 4.5 hours.
Also, lots of smokers (cigs and weed), and no one on course to say boo about it.
Great course layout though.
Super slow
Pace of play was horrendous! Was following a foursome that was following 2 groups of walkers that blazed the foursome in front of us, they finished there round while we were stuck at hole 13 and all calls to club house got excuses about: no staff or Marshall’s. Round took nearly 6 hours.
Too wet to be open
Wet AF
Way to soggy to allow play
Lost balls in uncut fairways
Standing water in fairways and bunkers
Thousands of daisy's everywhere creating difficulties finding balls
Carts suck
Left after 11holes hitting good shots and being unable to locate ball unless you're standing on it
Good course
Course was in good if not better condition considering all the recent rain in the area.
Back 9 closed/Greens covered in sand
I would have given this course a better rating if the whole course was open and the greens were not undergoing maintenance, which all courses go through from time to time. Unfortunately, the maintenance was on the greens. The back nine holes were completely closed due to maintenance, in the front nine greens were covered in a layer of sand. This is standard procedure and will soon improve the greens moving forward, but that did not help my score. It was like trying to putt in a sandbox. The one advantage to this was that the course was not overcrowded, and the pace of play was relatively quick. I also got a great hot deal, which combined with my $10 monthly credit with my Golf pass Plus membership was amazingly only $8 which included the cart. The other downside was that players were not repairing their divots. It was clear to me that this instruction needs to be conveyed to golfers at the time they are issued their golf cart. Those little bottles of sand behind your seat are there for a reason. For those who don't know, when you take a chunk of grass out of the fairway it is important to grab that bottle and pour the contents out into the crevice you just created with your Golf club. They contain seeds in addition to the sand. It's ideal to retrieve the patch of grass you removed and simply place it back on top of the dirt patch and lightly pat down. It's even better if you also use the bottle of seed and sand as well. Since retrieving the patch of grass is not always an option it is imperative to use those bottles on your golf cart, otherwise the fairways will quickly become littered with dirt skid marks. This course was evidence of the fact that players have no idea this etiquette exists. They did have Marshalls driving around but I did not see them asking players to do this. Hopefully, this will help remind all of us to help take care of any golf course we play at. Let's keep these courses beautiful so we can all continue to play this wonderful game! There was a $10 deposit which is returned upon returning the keys to the cart. This course has a beautiful layout and relatively wide fairways. There is definitely some nice elevation changes throughout the front nine including the fourth hole which has a drop which I'm guessing is 100 ft or more, with with water coming into play on the right hand side. The bunkers are in some serious need of regular maintenance. They did not appear to be a single hole with soft sand, but rather sand which had hardened and dried and didn't appear to have been raked by staff recently. It's been my experience that when maintenance staff doesn't rake the sand, the players don't either. I played from the blues, but it looked like there were at least three other options. I'm looking forward to playing here again when the greens have been restored.
CARTS
When I play on Tuesday, the gentleman behind the counter issues me a cart say's your all set and that's it. If I make the mistake of playing on a Wednesday a different person behind the counter tells me we are going to put another person with you. We will call you back to the clubhouse to pick that person up. I said I'll be on the driving range until just before my tee time. So I won't be coming back. I've had all my shots, but how do I know the person they want to put with me has had theirs ?
Needless to say I didn't go back. I also play on Tuesday only.
Great course. Good conditions
Always in good condition. Two 18-hole courses to choose from. Great value for money, especially during the week.
Blue Rock West October 2023
The sand traps need a lot of work. Fairways were in ok condition. The greens were aerated.
Good reliable muni
Soggy in many spots. Bermuda tee boxes were hairy. Bunkers needed a lot more sand. On the whole, an interesting course to play.
