awesome course
had a great time. the course was in great shape, even the he greens were just punched, i loved it!!!!!!
Great course for intermediate players
Course is kept in pretty good condition with some really nice holes over water. Great for intermediate players.
Friendly staff
The staff was friendly and efficient.
Nice local course, but limited by construction and weak management
Played several times but this might be the last time until they complete construction and get their group management straightened out.
Biggest issue is pace of play. Had six twosomes in a row headed up by a threesome from what appeared to be the men's group. Very very slow, 20 min per hole. We burned though the front nine in 75 min, then hit backlog ahead of us and gave up after 14 and nearly two hours into the back. Although yesterday was a rather extreme example, this is not unusual at westlake, especially when the weekly groups are involved.
Excellent day of golf
Played early morning and it cold but greens in great shape
This course played fairly well.
This is a game-improvement course for me. Builds my confidence level.

Slow greens and slow pace!
Had not played Westlake in almost a year and I am not missing much. Played mid afternoon on a Tuesday and it was SLOW!! The two five-somes in front of us did not help either! Greens are very inconsistent, most of them very slow and bumpy, tee boxes are fine, and most of the fairways in decent shape. They have a huge geese problem there and it is very messy. Overall, it was not worth the even the discounted rate for the slow, slow pace of play. Marshal was out there but he did not seem to care about the pace of play.
Westlake
Walked the blues (4961/63.1/105) in 3 1/2 hours on an overcast afternoon with temperatures in the 70's.
From tee to green the course was in good to excellent shape. Tees were nice, fairways and the rough were both semi lush and well maintained.
They have discontinued watering numerous areas of the rough that are fairly out of play which has created a brownish desert scape appearance that looks nice.
The greens were not in as good of condition as the rest of the course. Medium slow and bumpy, but they were at least very receptive to holding iron shots. They also had more than their share of unfixed ball marks.
The fringes are kikuyu here, and my best advice is to to avoid them. Even though they are mowed down, the fringes are very difficult to putt over or even bump and run over. Our 4some had numerous chips just stop when they caught the fringe, like velcro. You need to get over the fringes on your chips here in the air.
The sand traps were nicely maintained around the edges with hard packed sand. However, EVERY trap I saw had numerous sets of footprints that were unraked. Come on people!
The customer service was excellent. No drink cart, but they do have a restaurant @ the turn. The Marshall was visible, very friendly and came around several times.
Overall, a fun course that plays tougher than you would expect a 5000 yard course to play because of all the trees that come into play on anything crooked. Also, these greens are fairly large for a shorter course, you better have your "A" lag putting stroke to play well here.
Westlake - July 4th weekend - Sunday
Very quick round despite the holiday weekend (presumably everyone was bbq'ing and not at the course). Golfnow deal was ~$23 for a 12:15 teetime. Paired up with another solo player and tee'd off at 12:00 pm. Couple two-somes in front of us let us pass as they wanted to take their time. Finished 18 holes at 2:25 pm; a TWO AND A HALF HOUR 18 hole round is something I would take any day. Last time I played at this course the 18 hole round was over four hours.
Saw the cart lady a few times. But when I was making the turn onto 10, she seemed kind of rude to golfers on 1.
Saw the course marshal many times 1-18 and he was very friendly.
Course is easy, no elevation changes and sand traps seem to be out of the way (only found myself on the beach once). Greens could be in better shape, but are good for a public course.
Would probably only play again on another Golfnow deal as I live ~30 miles away.
Great pace
I've been coming here for years, it's a great place to golf.
Bachirus
Enjoyed a round of golf as usual. But due to extreme dry condition, fairway was hard and green was bumpy.
No heads up!
Not sure if this is a golf now problem but I received no warning about the greens being punched!!! If you can't put them the whole game is out the window! Not cool
Nice little course well maintained
Have played a few times now. Weekdays if lucky can knock it out in just over 3 hours but weekends press about 4 and a half. A couple of driveable par 4's but penalized roughly if not straight. Opportunities to practice short game often. Worth a visit and the price is right (especially if hoofing it on a weekday).
Very friendly nice course in the center of the city
If you like easy walking, nature orientated nice friendly course in the sun, Westlake Course is nice peasant course, with extremely pleasant employees.
The course is not that difficult but trying to score below my handicap, less than 10 is always funny.
An Old Timer Course
I've played this course a few times and the most consistent complaint I would have is that it seems to favor senior citizens to an unfair degree. I'm never greeted too pleasantly by anyone on the pro shop staff and then get reprimanded by an older Marshal on-course for having parked our cart on the "wrong" side of the tee box, yet I see the same marshal watch another senior golfer drive his cart practically onto the green (with no handicap placards) and not so much as a word is said about that. In all, it's a fun and reasonably challenging course. I just wish younger golfers were more welcome here.
Decent Short Course
The course was in fairly good condition even though somewhat soggy from the recent rains.
Westlake
A great course for those who are just beginning the game of golf or those who want to practice during a day off. Course over all is very green and well taken care of. Some parts are very wet and muddy but nothing that prevents anyone from getting a round in. Holes are short enough to where practicing your 3 or 5 wood is best, even the par 5s can be played with out a driver. Great deals early in the mornings!
Great Value
Great price for a round of golf. Short course but in good shape. Has some challenging penalties but at the same time can be forgiving. Pace of play was consistently good.
great short track
Very fun course to play. Greens and fairways in great condition and a very friendly staff. Haven't ever played a par 63 that was this much fun. Pace of play is quick. Excellent course to practice iron shots off the tee and approaches. Two par 5's and a couple par 4's let you hit driver.
