Sunday Round
A fantastic facility and a great round of golf in paradise. A renovation of 9 holes had just been completed, the course was playing quick and challenging. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, picked my bag up from my car in the parking lot next to the clubhouse. If you get a chance to play this course, do it!
Jurassic Park Golf
This course is literally nestled inside the rainforest “jungle”. Most of the fairways are narrow, and not much room for error on approach shots. If you’re a few yards off the fairway, the jungle eats the ball, if you’re slightly off target, the jungle eats the ball. So expect to lose about 2 to 3 times the number of balls you usually lose per round. If you’re just a beginner or weekend warrior, you’re probably not going to enjoy playing here.
Before your morning coffee even kick in, the second hole is an island green par 3. The guy in front of me sent 3 balls into the water before he gave up and drop one next to the green. On one par 5, my drive didn’t even reach the fairway. It was just short, and hit the retaining wall.
The condition of the green is anywhere from horrible to OK. Lots of barren spots on some, and very uneven. The speed is VERY SLOW. Check out the practice green to get a sense how slow it is. The grass just grabs the ball.
Tee times are not super tight, but there are a lot of tourist couples having a good time. Husbands & wives wanting to take pictures and videos, hit few more shots to try to get to that island green. But I got to play by myself. Pace seemed to be slow, but I still finished in 4 hours. Just a lot of waiting on tee boxes.
The view of the surrounding is gorgeous, you are surrounded by the mountain ranges & the rain forest
Play golf at Jurassic Park
The views from the holes are incredible. Definitely worth playing if you want to see the vegetation in Hawaii. But the greens are not in that great shape and some of the blind shots are really tough. Take a lot of balls you’re gonna lose them.
Natural Hawaii golf
If you want to feel like you’re in the jungles of Hawaii playing golf. This is the spot the actual golf course was in decent condition and the front nine proof challenging as it was very much target golf. If you missed a fairway, there was no chance of finding the golf ball. A few blind shots made it difficult for a first time to know where to place the ball. I played on a Tuesday morning and there was no one on the course was a little bummed that I didn’t get to get partnered with anybody but was nice to fly through and be done with my round in three hours .
Beautiful course, unique layout, and outstanding pace
The most aesthetically appealing golf course I have ever laid my clubs on. The front 9 and back 9 feel like two separate courses and play styles, which is great when trying to mentally reset. You cannot beat the views and each hole has its own unique quirk that draws you in. I found myself taking my phone camera out each hole! The only issue with the course is that the greens seem to have taken damage from the rainy season and had some dead patches on the front 9 causing inconsistent putting, but the back 9 is was a lot better. Overall, love playing this course when I can. Layups, blind shots, elevation, scenery, etc..
Beautiful track, bring extra balls!
Great challenge, loved the course! Front nine greens need quite a bit of work. That said, really glad I made the trip to play here!
Struggling
The course is situated in a remarkable location at the foot of huge mountains. A lot of money was spent to build the course in this difficult location. The front nine is too tight with very narrow landing areas. The back nine opens up some. Scenery is beautiful but the turf conditions are struggling as it appears there is inadequate budget to maintain. Driving range is not operating.
Jurassic Park with a side of Golf
This is one of the most unique and challenging courses out there. Unfortunately, the greens and course as a whole were not in great shape. For $330 for a couple, it’s a disappointing result. I would have expected the course to be in much better shape given the fees, but an amazing lifetime experience.
Beautiful Views but nightmare to play
We had been told by one person that Royal Hawaiian was their favorite course to play. When we arrived we were informed that due to the recent rain the front nine was cart path only. Also due to construction the bathrooms on the front nine were closed. the fairways and greens were patchy and in poor condition. The front nine layout features many blind carries, the greens were not receptive to good approaches. Due to the beautifully lush plants any errant shots left players digging for another ball to put in play. The back nine was more forgiving.
Absolutely amazing course.
Scenic, tough and the rain forest was awesome!
Hackers get chewed up and spat out by JURASSIC PARK course and loved it!
UNBELIEVABLE course! Sooo cool, picturesque and beyond challenging! Wife and I are just hackers, but wanted a unique experience of golf while in Hawaii and this course completely delivered! Picturesque back drops and awesome elevation changes with excellent jungle rides on the way to each hole with some 2 minutes long! Loved it and if you are on Oahu and even mildly play golf....do this course! Bring plenty of balls....started with 72 between the 2 of us and with finding a few along the way we still left with 32! ;) A MUST PLAY for the EXPERIENCE....not the Score! Aptly nicknamed Jurassic Park!
Rude staff
Horrible customer service….entitled staff, power trip
Scenic Target Golf Course
Tough course for 1st time playing, wet conditions and cart path only made for a long day to get around, buyer beware I was told afterwards its always cart path only because of the wet conditions and the real estate you have to travel between holes makes its impossible to walk. The catch is 1st time players wont know this and accept the cart path only situation, they have no choice. When we return we will not play here, one and done.
Challenging and Beautiful Course
Course wasn't the most maintained course on Oahu but certainly the most challenging and beautiful on the island. Like playing in Jurassic Park. An incredible experience for all golf levels.
Will definitely play it again!
Absolutely stunning views!!!
Pace of play suffers because it’s absolutely stunning.
Love this course
This is my favorite inland course. Located in Oahu’s tropical rain forest, it is like golfing in Jurassic Park. I’m an average golfer, usually loose a few balls, but the scenery is so amazing and the course so challenging it’s worth it.
