Seven, a long par-3, is easily one of the course’s hardest holes–partly because it is so well protected by greenside bunkers. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 12/13/2022

One. 354-yard par four. The 13-index opens things up somewhat gently, yet the green is well-bunkered. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/29/2021

Three, par-4, 423. The hole plays downhill but to a tight landing zone guarded by the pond. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/29/2021

The 492-yard, par-5 fifth is tempting for big hitters. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/29/2021

Seven, par-3, 249. It’s easy to see why this is the toughest three-par on the golf course. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/29/2021

Eighth. This long 5-par (579) is open enough for swinging away from the tee. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/29/2021

Sixteen will require your best drive to this tight, dog-legging fairway. The second shot is no picnic, either. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 06/29/2021

Course Needs New Management
It's quite sad what's happened to this course. I hadn't played this course in a couple of years even though I live 5 min away from the course. Thought I'd give it a shot this weekend and the conditions have only worsened since I last played it. The fairways are hard and bouncy, badly in need of some aeration. There are many bare spots on the fairways and rough. The greens were OK but again firm and bouncy and needs aeration. There is no sand in the traps. The pro-shop is in sad shape. They don't even have real scorecards anymore, some photo-copied piece of paper. There is no sand in the traps.
The course operator should be fired and there needs to be some new management. This used to be one of the best public courses to play in Connecticut, with a challenging layout. Sad to see this gem deteriorate into such bad shape. And shame on the town of Hamden for not doing anything about this.
Great New Look
I loved it. Having said that, it still needs work. The bunkers and the cart paths mainly. But the fairways and the greens were in beautiful condition. And I love the new look with all the trees gone.
I really enjoyed it and I highly recommend it.
Glad to see Laurel View is back
Renamed and ready for action. They’ve cleared out a lot of the old trees and still have some work to do. Can’t wait to see what it’s like when it’s all done. New clubhouse looks spectacular.
Dance floor ready
Greens are excellent and the cup placements are playable
February golf in NE
Fun round, anytime you can get in 18 in Ct. in February is a bonus
Dishonesty
I paid ahead of time through golf now. They charged me full price at the counter. After I had mentioned, I had a reservation. I also mentioned it was a hot deal. They refunded my money back to my card. If I wasn’t paying attention, I would’ve been double charged. The cart paths are horrendous. If you don’t have a spinal injury before going to this course, you will when you leave.
Coming along nicely but very muddy
I played a fairly empty course after three days of rain in March. If you haven’t been to Laurelview in a while, it’s changed its name to the VUE. The clubhouse is looking good, and there are new signs and scorecards. Several of the bunkers need a lot of work, the cart paths are in a state of disarray and it was cart path only so it was quite bumpy. With all that said, the main problem is that the course is saturated. I had to play lift, clean, and place everywhere. Good layout, friendly staff, but the course is still too wet. I would say wait about a month.
Fine track
Seems to be undergoing significant renovation, including changing some hole layouts. Charged a fair discounted off season price. Not the mkst challenging or interesting course.
Great for this time of year
Course was in really solid shape for mid-December. The only complaint I can say was they overbooked time slots. There were multiple of us with same time. At least 3 groups. But starter did his best to sort it out. Overall good day
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, John. We appreciate your feedback and apologize for any inconvenience caused by the appearance of overbooked time slots. We will make sure to address this issue to ensure a better experience for our customers in the future. Thanks for choosing The VUE.
Interesting layout - several quirks
Main takeaways:
Posted pace is 2hr15 for 9 so more than 4h30 for 18 is acceptable. I don’t know if I agree with that but noting nonetheless. Would’ve thought sub-4 hours for 18 this time of season but alas.
Good conditioning altogether. I thought some of the front 9 layout was a smidge quirky. Blind shots aplenty, lots of incline and decline. By example, a 240 yard par 3 uphill and into wind guarded with bunkering all about and OB down the right side. Alongside, a 280 yard par 4, no meaningful bunkering guarding it, wide open fairways.
Strangest pin placements? They were cut probably a couple feet from the green edge on just about every hole. Sure, this could be to protect the facilities but it’s absurd. Can only assuming the employee cutting those pins doesn’t play golf or they’re from a superintendents revenge and they never bothered to set them in a realstic position
Disappointed fairways were coated in leaves. Greens too of course. Odd that at steep green fees they don’t have someone running a leaf blower just once in the morning? Haven’t seen it this bad on a weekend at any other tracks I’ve been at this fall.
That said, an interesting layout. Good views all about, not a terrible walk. I suspect it’ll only get better and better.
Minor suggestion would be to consider turning the 8th into a short par 4 and pushing the tee boxes back so they’re played at around 280-320 yards.
Worth it if you’re in the area, I wouldn’t take a half hour or more ride otherwise especially cos that’ll amount to a 7+hour day - at the posted pace of play.

My view of the Vue Course
First time playing this course. The course was great even having the front greens in the middle of aeration and top dressing. Aside from the renovations in progress and the very rough cart paths, the course was terrific. Definitely make this a frequent course to play.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of our golf course. We appreciate your feedback and apologize for any inconvenience caused by the aeration and top dressing of the front greens. We are glad to hear that despite the renovations and rough cart paths, you still found the course to be terrific and we hope to see you back soon at The VUE.
Course was in decent shape….
Have a nice round, and the pace of play was good. In spite of all the rain and things being a little wet overall, the course is in pretty good shape. Still hoping to see some improvements soon on the golf cart paths as they are in pretty tough shape.
Also, my play partner was expecting to be able to rent or use a pull cart but none were available. For those of us that like to walk but can’t carry a bag that really is something that the golf course should always have available.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We're glad to hear that you enjoyed your round and found the pace of play satisfactory. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the wet conditions and the condition of the golf cart paths, and we will take your feedback into consideration for future improvements. Additionally, we appreciate your suggestion regarding the availability of pull carts, and we will do our best to ensure they are always available for our walking customers. Thank you again for your feedback.

Nice Improvements Being Done
I was really glad to see some of the trees gone off the first hole, I seem to find them often. The course is well maintained and the greens are so nice to putt.
Wow! We are so happy you enjoyed your round, jmstock60! We look forward to seeing you again soon at Laurel View Country Club.
Golf with a view
A good round of golf on a well maintained course. Took a minute from the gruel of the round to enjoy the views of the mountain. Looking forward to playing the course again, soon.

A Bargain
Great course with smooth soft greens, A tough walk especiallythe back nine. Would benefit from yardage markers on sprinklers. Highly recommend giving it a try.

Staff kidos
It was brutally hot and the owner had an employee come around to the players with cold bottles of water. Much appreciated!
