I've played many courses a couple of days after heavy rain, but the drainage on the fairways here are the worst I've seen. The nice greens couldn't make up for the fact that my group and I had lost multiple balls in the fairway of all places. Our balls were plugged flush to the ground so even though we saw our drives land it was a nightmare to find it when we approached it. I'd recommend this course as the layout's very nice and provides a good challenge, but wait at least 4-5 days to play this course after heavy rain.
Great Day. Great Value
it's been a couple years since I played Peacock Gap. The course is in great shape and buzzing with players. Obviously a health environment. Keep going!
Not April fools
Good condition with all the moisture.
Typical slow round with the volume of players. The greens look fantastic, except they are presently very slow.
Perhaps when they dry out a bit the speed will increase.
Nice day at Peacock
Path only due to rain previous day and greens still recovering from plugging and sanding. Greens super slow
But will be nice with a mow and a roll in a few days.
course has recovered well from the wet winter
They have been able to mow everywhere and carts were allowed off of the paths. Rough was mowed but a little longer than in the summer so balls were sometimes hard to find in the rough. This makes it a little slower to complete your round as it takes time for find any hits that ended up in the rough. Otherwise the course was in great shape and the greens have almost healed from the being aerated.
Good course
We played Peacock Gap for the first time. It was still very wet on the fairways but the greens were in very good condition. The layout is quite flat and an easy walk. There are not too many memorable holes apart from the 16th but overall it is a nice course. We were able to get the first twilight teetime and finished way before sunset after 3h45min as a two ball. The practice greens are well kept but be aware that the range does not allow any shots over 200y from the grass tees. So no warm up with any longer clubs.
Overall it's a nice course with great value for money.
A Good Course
Peacock Gap is a good course and worth the trip to San Rafael.
On the day I played it wasn’t the greatest weather (managed to miss the rain but the course was definitely still wet). That being the case it wasn’t as busy as normal leading to an excellent pace of play and a 4.5 hr round. Despite the rain the bunker sand was decent and greens were ok (though clearly sanded).
Swampy…
Normally would give this course 4-star rating but lots of rain recently has made the course extremely wet. Great course and venue - have played during the summer and it’s always in solid condition. But right now and probably for at least a few weeks it’s going to be swampy mess.
Greens are rolling really goof
Course is in good shape, good value, and the bunkers and greens are kept in great shape also.
Thank you for taking the time to review your experience. I'm sorry to hear your experience was marred by the wet conditions. The recent rain events have been very heavy here and have left a lot of water for courses to deal with. Peacock Gap is actually one of the better draining courses in the area as evidenced by our lowest "cart path only days" in the county, and at sea level that's really impressive. Plugged golf balls are definitely part of Winter golf but we're drying out fast so we hope you can come back soon. Thanks again and happy golfing.
