Haven't played here in two years.
Bunkers need some attention, more sand. Good general condition, noticed different layout of back and front nine's.
Poor Management
Carts kept freezing up and only worked backwards on Friday 10, 2024. This situation made the round of golf very unpleasant.
When we finished the round I and several other golfers approached the pro shop and asked for some consideration for our inconvenience.
To quote the person in the pro shop "Not my problem" As it turned out the pro took over the conversation and blamed the Sun.
Anyone who has ever been in the service industry, and yes, golf is a service industry, when anyone or a group of people are unhappy with the service an apology is offered at a minimum.
A $10 rain check, a free golf ball, or even a bag of tees would go a long way to retain repeat golfers.
Shame on the management for zero response.
There are plenty of other golf courses in Marin to choose from. Going forward , Peacock Gap will not be one of them for me.
Decent Muni in North Bay
This was my first time playing Peacock Gap and my overall opinion is that it’s a decent muni course here in the North Bay. The layout is primarily flat so this would be an easy course to walk. Hole variety is fairly decent and it has a couple of forced carries over water hazards to keep things interesting. Add in some creek crossings and the layout is anything but a cake walk. I played on 4/29 and it was super windy which according to locals is abnormal for the 2-3 club wind we experienced
Greens were modest in size. Just about right with some nice undulations that made you think but nothing too tricked out. Greens rolled smooth, albeit on the slow side.
Fairways are firm and fast. The nice thing was downwind shots would roll forever. Including up on to and off the back of the green. Even though the fairways presented a bit of a tight lie situation they still were decent enough to hit from.
Tee boxes were all level with good coverage. I was in five greenside bunkers and they were all ok. Nothing great but enough sand to escape from in one shot.
Pro shop is small but there is a nice bar/restaurant with indoor and patio seating.
It’s not worth a special trip to play but if you’re headed to the City and want a warm up round beforehand, this track will do the trick.
Nice people. Terrible course maintenance
The fairways are close to being a goat pasture. More weeds than grass. Clumps of dried out grass and weed clippings are all over the place. They're big enough to hide golf balls.
The worst golf course upkeep in Marin.
Nice people in the clubhouse and at the starters booth though.
Tough greens. My swing felt weird. Direction was bad.. I'll play again to beat this course.
Great day, course was in great shape. Greens were impeccable as usual.
Do not ever, ever buy golf balls here!! They charge $80+tax for a dozen top of the line golf balls. I asked why, and the guy in the pro shop said 'we can charge what we want because you have to drive 25 minutes to buy balls from somewhere else.' They are proudly price gouging. I love this course, but it's quite sad they're this money hungry. Be better
Great Day. Great Value
it's been a couple years since I played Peacock Gap. The course is in great shape and buzzing with players. Obviously a health environment. Keep going!
Not April fools
Good condition with all the moisture.
Typical slow round with the volume of players. The greens look fantastic, except they are presently very slow.
Perhaps when they dry out a bit the speed will increase.
Nice day at Peacock
Path only due to rain previous day and greens still recovering from plugging and sanding. Greens super slow
But will be nice with a mow and a roll in a few days.
