Could have been better!!
Baywood is one of the nicest courses I have played. No small feat considering I've played in 6 countries and about 20 states including several British Open venues and TPC courses in the states. I work in the golf industry and am regularly asked for course recommendations. Baywood is always on the top of my list for the DelMarVa area and I was looking forward to my first trip to the area this year and playing it again. I was surprised to learn while checking in that it was cart path only, and patrons who were leaving as we were arriving, were miserable and complaining that none of them were informed of this when they called for tee times. Delaware has had record temps and humidity this week, 95 degrees the norm. To the point that play appeared to be down at the course, not many cars in the lot. The course regardless appeared to be in good shape, not suffering or burnt, nor appearing to nessitate cart path only either? It was simply miserable to walk back and forth from cart path to ball and I'm certain the average golfer isn't going to bother to carry the fill jug back and forth to fill divots which creates its own issues. I realize the superintendent has to ensure the health of the course is maintained in the oppressive heat...... But he should consider the health of the paying public in the heat as well. There are plenty of other nice courses in the area. As much as I like Baywood, the rest of my vacation week, and golf business will be elsewhere in the area....... And none of those courses are enforcing cart path only..... At least not on the days I've played.
Too early in season to open the range and concessions. Once they’re functioning, this course gets 5 stars all around.
improper
set up t time on golf now AND called club house to confirm conditions. No mention of severe deep aeration to greens and that entire course was cart path only. I could see need for about 4 holes but rest of course was dry and accessible. just a bunch of bollix. These guys think their s*@# smells like roses.
Greens and Fairways Plugged and Sanded
The price was right but they could have let us know that the greens were variable at best. Same with the fairways. But it will make for a great course when everything grows in.
An absolute jewel.
We guessed the greens were punched and the range was closed. It’s December so it’s not going to be perfect. This course has an amazing layout and facilities. We played twice - cart path only and loved every minute. Them enjoyed the ambiance of the bar. A class facility.
Leaves everywhere
They def need to blow the fairways …expected more form baywood .
All was good…….early tee time because group of 8 ahead of us was “late”…..we teed off and we’re going along good, and there was a group of 3 behind our foursome, so in the 40 years I’ve been golfing the proper thing to do is let the smaller group play thru, they were not pushing us, it’s hust golf etiquette……obviously not for the ranger who happened to be passing by and proceeded to ask why we were letting them play thru…… we politely explain to him, obviously, that wasn’t what he wanted to hear. I asked if we knew how to play “ready golf” all the sudden we were holding everyone up ! And told us that he had a group of eight coming behind us that were much younger and faster than we were! Seems to me they were late for their tee time, but that was my problem to play ready golf ??….. so they can get their 18 holes in before dark, as we were playing twilight! I don’t think so ! So we did stay where we were, and picked up the pace, to the point no one was behind us! I’ve been here 17 years, playing this golf course, since it opened, beautiful golf course, but never experienced anything like that with a ranger there, they should vet their employees a little better ! Angry guys don’t need to be doing that job in my opinion, and that’s what he seem to be! Because I guess it was getting late.
Another great round of golf at Baywood Greens
Love this place. From the minute you get here, pure class.
Best is the finely manicured golf course with tight, short grass fairways.. Some holes feel like the entire fairway is almost like a green, giving me plenty of roll.
Greens are fast but controllable ( dont put downhill or say bye bye to par)
Staff at all levels are super professional and friendly. Love playing here
