West at White Pines Golf Course
About
Situated just 30 minutes from downtown Chicago, White Pines Golf Club has been a popular spot for both locals and visitors. The club offers two courses, the East and the West. The West Course is longer than the East by 400 yards and considered slightly more challenging. The layout is relatively tight and there is an abundance of trees, which means you'll need to be accurate to do well. The greens are large and challenging with difficult-to-read breaks. There is also minimal, but strategic bunkering along the greensides. The fairways provide plenty of variety with some that are narrow and heavily tree-lined and others that are wide with no trees in sight. The golf course has several challenging holes but it's forgiving enough for beginners to approach with confidence.

Fun course that is close to the city. Tied of super early and pace of play was great. Solid fairway and greens were consistent.
Recommend it to average to good players
Back 9 gets pretty tough. Long par 3s and tight long 5s at the end but overall a good experience. Can see how it can play slower normal hours with the course layout
Bang for your buck
The layout of the course wasn't extremely challenging especially if you're dialed in, I however was slicing so it was useful to have those wide fairways to catch my ball. The pins were all tucked making the greens more challenging then they would be otherwise. We got started late because of an outing, but pace of play wasn't too bad considering it was a Friday afternoon. I'd come back especially at that price.
Carts and GPS pain in the A___
Hadn't played here for a couple of years because it was in such bad shape the last time. Now course is in pretty good shape. Big issues were did not get off on time. Had outing ahead and starts after were 30 plus minutes late getting off. Worst was information from club house was inaccurate and guy at counter gave me wrong course card which I didn't notice till I was on hole 2. Worse are the carts cutting off with no warning and for no good reason all over the course. No marking on course of issues no alert from GPS when it will happen until it does. Also annoying adds continually popping up on GPS and slow to respond from them.
Price was good, but will probably think twice before I book again.
Carts
Its ridiculous that the carts shut of if driven off the fairways into the tree lines. If you miss hit a ball lets say into the adjacent fairways you CANNOT DRIVE thru the tree lines or your cart shuts down you then have to back up until back on the fairways its SLOWS PACE OF PLAY IMMENSELY! Also the have a line that runs perpendicular to the fairways closer to the greens again the carts shut down about 20 feet beforecthe line. Again it's a simple fix but I dont no why this is in place completely rid!
Great Sunday Track
This was my second time coming here and I loved just as much as the first time I played it. Can’t wait to make my way back to it again. I overheard they might sell the land, so play it while it’s still here!
Slow Pace
By far the slowess course I ever play at. Course was not that great in condition also. I played the East course, maybe the West course is better but who know.
Played a round all by myself
I enjoyed the staff (George) and his quickness and friendliness as I checked in. I was the only one on the course for the first 2 -3 holes and had a great round and great weather. I’ll be back next week . Keep up the good work
White Pines - West Course
Course was well maintained. Staff was excellent to deal with. Would play again
