Mary Calder - a locals perspective
This is a great 9 hole layout. The staff is friendly, and the value can't be beat around here. There is a blitz that goes out at 9 a.m. every Tuesday and Thursday. They have Golf Now reservations during that time which could create a problem, as they haven't worked with Golf Now to make those tee times unavailable. We were teeing off on the 5th hole from the tips when a couple of guys drove up the fairway to the tees they play and attempted to jump right in front of us. We worked it out.
This is a hit and miss course.
First out of the tee box on the day I played so a pace of play was not a problem.
This was an unfamiliar course for me. Some of it's in real good shape and some of is in need of help. But then again aren't all courses this time of the year in that situation? Some challenging holes and some not. Some of the tee box markings weren't very helpful and left me confused as to where my next direction was to be. I probably play this course again due to the low cost. It appears, for the locals it's a good value. Plus it's quick to play.
I wasn't happy with the price.
I don't normally complain but $44 is pretty steep for here. That's what we pay in Atlanta on really nice courses. I asked the counter person if they honor Cornerstone Member rates she said they are Cornerstone i said ok I'm a member in Atlanta can i get that rate? She said she needed at ask Paul and he's not in. Ok well i have my member number lets see if the system takes it. Again she has to ask Paul. If it wasnt for me wanting to play with my Uncles while i was in town i would've left. Not to play the same 9 holes twice i did that as a kid.
Locals
This 9 hole course is for locals. This course that is in the middle of a pulp factory on all sides is heavily used. Shouldn't be on Golf now. It's for beginners but long way to go for not a big return.
Enjoyable
Had a great time playing here. Can’t wait to play again
Overall this is a good course for the price. First time playing it and the guy in the office was super honest about all the updates and what needed to be updated. For the price it’s a nice place to go play a quick round. If your looking for country club golf this isn’t it but a great local course. When I played the grass and greens where in good shape and you could tell they are putting an effort in to where things need to be touched up.
Cadler
First come first serve. Great place to come get some good practice in or play with beginners or as beginners with nobody on your
Review
The Mary Calder Golf Club is mediocre and poorly maintained. While the staff was professional and friendly, the grounds were poor and the cost to play far surpassed the quality.
Nice little track. I thought I was booking 18 holes , come to find put after 9 holes that I just played the last whole. 😅 played in 55 min . 2 over par
Kjsmiff,
We appreciate the local perspective. We are looking into the issue of tee times and will address this right away. Thanks for the feedback.
Best,
