This is the best deal that Maui has to offer. The conditions were great and the price was reasonable for the island. Save more bucks by paying for a multi pass, and get out at sunrise to finish before the trades start howling. If you get out before 7 you can easily get around in 2.5 hours with a partner.

The course is beautiful and very open. Having a gps on the cart is great, especially for a first time visit to the course. The green fees were very reasonable. There was a problem with the swarms of gnats during the round. They covered us from head to toe at times.

My two adult sons and I played Maui Nui three times in about 6 days in early June. The course was very well maintained and the GPS in the carts was excellent. We played late morning into the afternoon and greens sped up quite a bit during the round. The restaurant has good food and cart ladies are helpful and appreciative. The starter "Buff" was a bit of a pain when we showed up. He likes to play like he's "just a cart guy" and then amuses himself by saying "I bet you didn't know I was the started right?" as if there were a dozen people out there taking receipts. By the third day, yeah he did it all three days, it was annoying. You would think he would remember three guys he's seen that much. He wouldn't acknowledge us when we asked him to set up our carts the way we wanted them, and then snaps when you tell him twice. We would have set them up ourselves but doesn't give you a chance. Other than that, it was a pretty good day. Lots of native birds and mongooses all over and a few of the holes have a great view of the water.

You can't beat playing Maui Nui for value on Maui. It is a solid course and in very good shape. You need to check GolfNow regularly to find cheap rates (I've paid as little as $20 and regularly find a time for $36 for late morning early afternoon when, of course, it tends to be windy). Greens are fast, fairways mostly generous and good variety of holes. If you want to pay $130 or $150 at the Old Blue in Wailea, that's your choice, but that course is definitely not 5 times better than Maui Nui. It appears that Kahili and the Dunes (the other two good moderately priced courses on Maui) have upped their rates, so Maui Nui is clearly the best value on Maui.

A few nice holes, otherwise, not a memorable layout. It seems to draw many beginners, slowing play. State residents pay 1/2 of visitor rates. Several fairways misdesigned, with narrow, overgrown trees blocking drives and odd slopes that can ruin even a brilliant drive. It's too easy to hit into the group ahead on several holes. Busy highway next to 3-4 of the fairways. Driving range on site, but $5 gets you a small quantity of old, distance limited balls. Parking lot service at bag drop is non-existent. It's something to play once as a warmup round, perhaps, but don't pay more than $40.

Go here for a scorecard reboot and confidence builder after taking a beating at Plantation course. Go early if you're a single to beat the co-ed twosomes and foursomes later in the day. Putts break toward the ocean....but you knew that. I teed off at 6:45. Played 18 in 2.5 hrs and got another nine in on the replay rate before the course slowed down too much. Nice lies on fsirway turf.

Played Maui Nui for about 70 bucks including fees. Range grass is in rough shape and consists of divot sand with little grass. I would say the range is more relaxed and geared toward fun with a football upright, Gilligan's Island type boat, and barrels to hit at. Golf course was very dry and in decent shape for the price paid. Greens seemed very fast despite playing towards or against ocean. They are building more new homes around the golf course so I assume it will only get more popular and established in the future. I wouldn't eat here at the club house when you are six minutes away from the MonkeyPod Kitchen in Wailea. I would recommend this course to get away from the resorts and more towards beginners, intermediates, and old timers. The drink girl made it around two times for drinks in 18 holes.
