Great Value!
Very friendly staff! Good food!
Down Hill
I played this course in the past, and although short, it was a fun little track.
This time was different. The course is in rough shape. Fairways are not in good shape. Tees are inconsistent. Greens were slow, but acceptable. Not really worth $40.
Poorly taken Care of
I really enjoyed the layout of the course on the front nine because it forced me to be creative on certain holes that took driver out of play, while other holes offered a risk reward for hitting driver throughout the course. However, there was no fairway. It was taken over by weeds the front nine (improved the back nine). About three or four greens had limited grass on them because they cut so short that it cut into the ground at some points. These greens also had clumps of grass from cutting them in the way of your putts. This could be a good course if it was taken care of, but it is not. I am shocked that Mckendree plays here. That's embarrassing.
Most likely never going back
Let me start out by saying this used to be one of my favorite courses last year. I went for the first time this year and the course was in such bad shape it blew my mind. I don't understand how they can ever ask anyone to pay $35.00 to play the worst condition course in a 30 mile area. Extremely extremely unhappy with how the course has been taking care of and can honestly doubt that I will ever go back.
This course could use some work.
Front nine not in very good condition, greens have many burnt/bare areas. Grass in fairways could use some fertilizer.
Back nine was in better condition but could also use som TLC.
This course was convenient
Course played great. Staff was very accomodating and getting on at scheduled time was great.
Great Time!
This is a course to play if you like a nice layout with a variety of shots. The Greens were in good shape and the fairways were well defined. The staff were very helpful allowing players to play off the front or back nine to allow for a better playing experience. The food was good and the prices were fair. Good day overall and will return to play again.
Nice
Nice course for the price. Got to use every club in my bag.
old, tired course
weather, staff, and lunch were outstanding. Course is in great setting, but things are in bad shape.. Dry, many crab grass tee boxes, greens not too bad.
Golf Buddy confused about #3 becoming #1, #4 to #2, but we still had a great time.
Not in Good Shape
Overall course was in bad shape. Staff and facilities were very good. Women's T boxes were weeds and many of the men's boxes were very spotty with very little grass. Fairways were below average. Greens weren't too bad. Expected a lot better since the College took over. Bar, grill, and back deck were well above average. Staff was very friendly. Better places to play for the money.
Relaxing day
The greens were in good shape, but the ladies tees were not. Looked like the grass died and they hadn't worked on them yet.
Great for the price
Course had had some flood damage and areas were under repair, but was very much playable and improvements are being made. Back 9 is much better than front 9.
Improved
This is a nice course to play. Some improvements over the previous ownership. Greens are in great shape.
Nice course
Greens were in good shape. fairways were rough.
you can see they are trying, but the starting hole is a silly uphill par four thatcan only lead to slow play.
their pratice putting green is small .back nine is forgetable. I payed $37.00 early . Not worth the Money
Pace of Play
Played behind a "fivesome". Arghhhhhh! But we like this course. College has really improved it.
Not worth the cost
Course allows fivesomes to play.
Greens were hard as a rock and wouldn't hold anything. Fairways had spotty areas of grass.
Will not play here at the Green Fees offered ($37)
Nice Layout
The fairways were fairly barren. I think the extremely wet spring has caused some of the problem. You could see where the grass was beginning to come out and should be nice soon. The greens were in spectacular shape. They were fairly fast which I like. Overall we had a great time. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I will undoubtedly play the course again if I get the opportunity.
Greatly improved course
I highly recommend playing a round of golf at the Hills of Mckendree, the course has the some best greens in the area, they always roll true, the layout is fair, even the most seasoned golfer would enjoy the course. In my opinion the staff is excellent, they're cordial, friendly, helpful and always polite, if you haven't played the course in a few years, your in for a treat, best value for the money.
Review
I'll never understand why golf courses don't pair golfers up to allow for a better pace of play or at least have a marshal monitoring the pace of play. We played as a threesome, behind a twosome....who must have been beginners. They were very slow and should have let us play through. It took us 4 hours and 46 minutes to play. Please manage the course.
