What an awesome course
This course was in beautiful shape. The layout was difficult with lots of creeks and ponds that came into play. The greens were large without a mark on them. They were so quick and the rough around them was very sticky. That affected your chips and putts. The woman's tees made it play long as some tee shots were uphill. The men could have used a senor tee. We had beautiful weather to enjoy the scenic course. Would play again and again if we lived nearby.
Decent enough.
This course is pretty good however I don't understand all the hype... 7th ranked course in Illinois?? Don't get me wrong it's a nice course with decent layout but I wouldn't rate it 5 stars. Tends to be pretty wet and is difficult to navigate drives your first round here and even more without a rangefinder. Beer and food selection was great but I think there's a restaurant change so that might change.
All in all a challenging course with nice scenery.
My favourite in the Rockford district
A beautiful course that is always in good shape. The 13th in particular is a clever design that keeps you coming back. This course has everything. Some really challenging holes and some you can really attack to lower that score. Large greens with good roll, nice water and sand trap placement
Love the bent grass fairways
Just when we were ready to start. A rain front came through and soaked us pretty good. We had to wait about 30 minutes. Staff were terrific kept everything going well. Definetly a return course. The only thing I have to complain about was the Ranger. i thought he was a bit off when he got after me for being too close the green. I have bad knees and wear mega braces on them so I didn't think I needed to ask for handicapped flag. He could have been more considerate as I was not doing any damage to course. But otherwise great course and thanks for a great day .
This is a beautiful course!
This is one of my favorite courses in the area. Well maintained and mature.
Great value and great course
Course is challenging yet rewarding. Beautiful scenery and the course was in great shape!
Good as always
Good value. Mixture of holes and a good pace of play. The ledges never disappoints
Beautiful Course Terrible Golf Etiquette
It has been about twenty years since I last played here. The weather was cloudy and it started raining when we reached the 16th green. First, the staff like always were very friendly and helpful. Second, the tee boxes were in good shape and same with the fairways. The rough was a little longer from what I remembered. Now let’s talk about the greens, they are a lot slower then I’m use too. The other thing about the greens that is no fault of the staff, is all the ball marks and this seems to be a problem with a lot of courses I play. I try to fix at least one ball mark even if I didn’t make one. This is what my elders that I golfed with taught me. I apologize for getting off track on rating the course but this issue really burns me up. Back to the course, if you get a chance go play there you won’t be sorry.
challenging course
Nice course, the food was just fair.
Course in great shape only some traps were unraked
Challenging course and a good deal
Get out and play
Just played this course yesterday. It is in amazng shape, and the new fall rates just can't b beat. Get out there and play before the snow comes. You won't regret it.
Deceivingly Long Course
Very well kept. Long but forgiving. Friendly golfers that allowed a single to play thru unlike other courses!
My Home Course
Ledges is my home course and is a great trac. They have the course in real good condition (greens could be a little quicker). The diversity of holes on this trac are second to none in our area. It is a beautiful course and will test your game. Driver is not always the right choice on some par 4's. Even at full rate the value is good, even better with GolfNow. I am lucky to have this trac so close to home. Give the Ledges a try.
Beautiful layout
Fun course. Lots of challenging holes. Beautiful scenery.
Big and hilly
Very nice course lots of hills, big holes tight holes water this course has it all plus very nice smooth greens. If I lived closer would play very often jealous that it is not my home course
Great course
Excellent course conditions. Only thing is the bar/food wasn't open when it was supposed to be open
wet had a lot of rain course in very good condition
Pace of play was very good. Course is in good condition.
Go out and Play this Senic Course!!!
I played this Course on a Thursday afternoon for peanuts, saying a low value being a park District course just south of Rockford, I did not know what to expect. And wow when I got there... After hole one a pairing up with a regular, who loved to talk about each hole for me, It made life very easy here. Played the Blues, and the distance , and Hole out with 41-40=81. Fairways were in better shape than some expensive courses I have played this season. The rough was my only thing I didn't like here. Not cut down to the normal 3 inches was tuff coming out of it. The greens In well maintained shape, I was impressed. The ranger who rode around to check up on people was really nice guy. I did not loose one ball here. Watch hole 12 though. A think to me was hardest on this course. Drive over a wide creek, narrow fairway, ob on both sides. and if you make the fair way, a huge tree blocks your path straight at the hole at the green. Either fly your ball over it, or place it just right and next to green for shot at your par 4 here. I fell in Love with the course. For what I paid to play and ride, I thought I was stealing, LOL. I play so many courses in a year, I actually told a buddy of mine I was sad to leave here. I thought so much of THE LEDGES. Go play this course every one, you will see what I saw, I great senic course in middle of no where. Not much slope to most greens, but the greens where good size fit for this course. Lots of Elevation changes here, I Love this on a golf course.
Beautiful course
I decided to golf at Ledges because the Tee price was very reasonable - and I was very surprised at how beautiful the course was! I wasn't expecting much from a middle-of-nowhere-northern-Illinois golf course, but this is a really nice course. It's long and has plenty of trees and water and elevation. I'll be going back there. Next time I'm getting a cart!
