Crystal Woods Golf Club
About
Crystal Woods Golf Club dates back to the 1950s when it was opened as a nine-hole, par-37 course called Bit O’ Heather Golf Club, which it was known as until 1967 when the course was renamed and completely redesigned, which included the addition of another nine. The par-72 course that exists today tumbles across a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. The golf course is mostly wide open, putting it at the mercy of the prevailing winds. On particularly blustery days, Crystal Woods Golf Club is quite demanding. The 12th is the course’s signature and it even has a reputation for being the most difficult hole in McHenry County. It’s tempting to be distracted by the beautiful view from the elevated tee but this tough hole requires your full attention. The double-tiered green rises dramatically from front to back, often demanding three or more putts.

Tee for Fore
We had a great time, staff was very friendly, play was rather slow. That was the only issue. Thumbs up!
In town with a buddy
Was looking for an early tee time, a little pricey but expected for Father’s Day weekend. You get a good roll off the ball . Greens are hard but good. You really need to stick the layup
Always a great course
Always like coming to Crystal Woods. Great price with this round. Friend I brought hadn’t been here in many years. He really enjoyed.
RWW
Very good course, greens excellent and good pace of play.
Good then. Better now.
Course in really nice shape. Always enjoyed playing here in the past. Love it now. Met the new GM (Chris). Seems like the right guy for the job.
Really enjoyed it
Played here for the first time despite living in the area for a long time and really enjoyed it. I look forward to coming back when things are growing and leaves are on the trees. Nice property with rolling terrain and mature tree lined fairways.
December?
Played on December 27 in Chicago suburbs and was cold and damp, the course was in good condition and the greens were great. Only stuck it out for 14 holes but enjoyed the course
Great gem of a course!
My girlfriend and I played this course on a whim as we drove to her parents house in Crystal Lake. The staff was very friendly from the start, and the course was in pristine condition. We only played the front, but we can’t wait to come back and play the rest! Nice course in a nice place.
