Best value in Indiana
If you're looking for a course to play for under $50, this is the place to go. The layout is very interesting, and the course is always in perfect shape!
Great value
This is a great course ! Firvget the reasonable price ( because it was ). The condition and layout thru mature trees and rolling fairways was challenging yet fun to play . I expect to come back again soon .
Great Course
Love this course.
Great layout, well maintained course.
You guys do a great job taking care of our group.
Kudos to Royal Hylands.
Nice Course
An enjoyable round at a well maintained course. Greens were challenging but rolled very nicely. Bunkers with soft sand lead to some fried eggs. The layout was good, you get a little bit of everything. Value was good and staff friendly.
Whether it is a top 20, I will leave that for others to debate. I would definitely play this course again.
Love this course hard but fun to play!
Best round I ever played on this course! Been playing this course since it was built.
Cass act!
Cart path only day, didn't matter. This course is top notch. Great conditions from tees to fairways to greens. Had a lot of rain the previous evening, greens were a little slow, thank the lord, I would hate to see them any faster. This course has something for everyone. Plenty of doglegs, some water, plenty of sand, large tiered greens. Shot my all time record! Missed 5or 6 putts by less than an inch or it would have been much lower. I only wish that I lived in the area. (came from Kentucky on 5 course trip) Well worth the time to play this jewel.
Congrats on your record breaking round. Come see us again soon. Thanks for playing
Broke my record score!
Extremely nice course. Challenging yet fair. Nice layout. Will return, will recommend to friends.
Best Value In the Area
Jump at the chance to play this course. Yes, you're driving 45-60 minutes from the Indy area, but it's well worth it. The course is in great shape and is a fun challenge. The holes are a fun mix of tight in the woods and open holes with sand/water around. The greens all have lots of tilt and if you're above the hole you're in for a challenge.
They recently remodeled the clubhouse and it's a nice open layout with more goodies for purchase. The folks are very friendly as well.
If you get a hot deal round, you're robbing them. Make the trip and thank me later.
Thanks for the great review. We appreciate your support, thanks for playing!
Love the course
Pace of play was great. Enjoyed the round
Thanks for playing, happy you enjoyed your day!
Lives Up To Its Reputation
Read about the course online on many sites--friendliest staff in Indiana and best value course in the state. I'm 35 miles away in Indianapolis, staying here for a few weeks with family, and decided to give it a try. I got to the parking lot and realized that I'd left my clubs in my apartment and all I had was my back up putter and a six iron. I walked in and told the gentleman in the pro shop about my stupidity. I said that I really didn't want to spend 40-50 bucks to rent clubs for the day, and really only needed a wedge, one more iron, and a driver. There was a used Cleveland 54 degree for sale for $25 that I bought and he lent me a driver and 7 iron and a bag to carry them in...laughing a bit at my predicament, and with good measure. But he didn't charge me a cent extra and wished me a good round.
The course itself is in great condition. Fairways and tee boxes are without blemish, and the greens are fast. Most holes are open enough that if you err off the tee, you won't be penalized too badly, but there are a couple where you need to keep it in the center in order to score at all. Not the hardest course out there, but the greens need to be respected, especially from above the hole).
In the end, I played through about 8 groups of people as single and everyone there was incredibly friendly and generous. Huge shout out to the gentleman in the pro shop. Made what could have been a disastrous day a helluva lot better and I thoroughly enjoyed my round. For $30 bucks with a cart on a Friday at 10am, pretty hard to beat--especially for anyone from the East Coast, where golf like this would be twice as much, at least.
**Lastly--the course is only a mile from the gym from the movie "Hoosiers"...play 18 and then drive and see the gym and make an afternoon of it. It's worth it.
We're so happy everything worked out.....Go Hoosiers!
Great Day
I used to play this course a couple of times a year, but costs increased and the conditions decreased. Played it this June and was pleasantly surprised. The clubhouse renovation looks great and the course was in great shape. For $39 on the weekend, it was worth the trip. Enjoyed it so much, had the family Fourth of July outing there. Only criticism is that some of the tee boxes were kind of lumpy—difficult to find a level spot to hit from. Hope to return a few more times this year.
Thanks for coming out, we appreciate it. Leveling some of the tee boxes is our next item on the list of improvements :)
Perfect Condition
I have played a lot of the better courses in this area including The Fort, Purgatory, Trophy Club, etc. etc. They have nothing on this course right now perfect bent grass fairways that are perfect and perfect greens. I have played here for years a few times each year, but it is as nice as any public course around . You will end up taking pictures :)
Thanks for the review, glad you enjoyed the facility!
I would definitely recommend this course. Just failed to hit the right buttons :)
Great corse
This course ranks up there with some of the very best courses this is a must play and the price is very very reasonable good job keep up the good work Clay
Thanks for playing and the nice review.
Fairways are sweet
The course was in the best condition I have ever seen it in, our group was very impressed and cant wait to come back.
Thanks for playing. Hope to see you soon!
Far from my favorite
I hadn't been here in several years.....all the great reviews peaked my interest and made the longish drive to check it out. They do a nice job operating the facility and I certainly wouldn't suggest staying away......This is far from one of the elite courses in IN though. I say this largely from the standpoint of course design. I like both short and long courses....I like variety, but I don't like gimmicky holes with lots of blind shots, forced layups, etc. This course has much of that. You really need local course knowledge and experience to know where to hit it here. Kudos to the staff, but not my favorite design by any means. The greens were in good shape. If you are local it's a good choice.....not worth an extended drive though in my opinion.
We appreciate you giving us a chance to show off what we do, thanks for coming out to play.
clubhouse renovation
The newly renovated clubhouse was very nice. New cart paths. Greens is great shape for recent rain.
We are so glad that you enjoyed our new amenities. We worked hard over the winter to bring a great before and after round experience. Thanks for playing!
Nice
I will play again. It's worth the drive
Thanks for playing. Hope to see you soon!
Beautiful course
We enjoyed playing this course on a beautiful fall day. Cart paths had just been paved and were in great shape. Fairways and greens were very nice.
Thanks for the review. We love how the new cart paths turned out too! Hope to see you again this year
Hidden Gem
I play all over and am always looking for challenging well maintained courses. Don't let the the short yardage fool you. With 5 par 3s and some short par 5s the 6500 from the tips was plenty of a challenge. Beautiful Bent grass fairways and Greens. A mix of tight wooded holes and open Links style holes. Some big elevation changes. Royal Highland is going to be a must play every year.
Excellent condition and pace of play!
We played on a Sunday early afternoon. Very few players on the course, probably because of a Colts game. The greens weren't the fastest, but very smooth and in great condition. 2 of us played in 2:45 minutes! The course was in as good a condition as just about any I've played this summer.
Congrats on your round. We appreciate you coming out, Thanks
