Ocean City Golf Club - Newport Bay
About
Ocean City Golf Club boasts 36 holes of championship golf. The Seaside Course opened in 1959 and it was later joined by the Newport Bay Course. Both offer scenic views of the surrounding marshes and bay. Newport Bay is a formidable challenge but it will test your ability to think strategically, not your distance. Strategically placed bunkers come into play and the subtle contours of the landscape were utilized to their full extent. The course is a formidable test but it is player friendly enough to appeal to all skill levels. The golf course also touts some of the most scenic views on the Mid-Atlantic coast, although the surroundings are more Carolinian in feel. Both of Ocean City's courses offer something different. Seaside has a more traditional design but both offer plenty of variety.

We should not have had to play.....
The night before, we had over 3 inches of rain. We decided to call the course because unfortunately, we booked through golf now for a better rate. The only problem with that, if the course is open, you must play or lose your money.
We called from our hotel while eating breakfast and they said, of course, we are open. Well, we arrived at this old run down brick building which was the pro shop and snack shop and locker room. This place was like taking a trip back to the 70's. We arrived an hour early. We dropped off our bags and were told to go to the driving range but we had to walk and not take the cart. I explained I had MS and the old fella goes I don't make the rules sorry. So we grab 4-5 clubs, go to the driving range, the mats are soaked and there are no rubber tees except 2 for people that like to tee their driver up over 6 inches.
No one was on the coarse, why couldn't we just tee off and get it over with at this dump. They said they were putting a single with us and he had not arrived yet. That is ridiculous! We wanted to play alone not with some stranger, though he turned out to be a nice guy.
It was cart path only but on most holes, the cart path was under water! There were puddles in the fairways and sand traps, by far the worse conditions I have ever played in. Because of you policy Golf Now, I will never book another course through your service for a golf vacation. I ended up twisting my knee because I slipped while trying to hit my ball on a steep down slope. It was a nightmare!
Great Course & Beautiful View!
I love the course and it is always in great condition! The water views are stunning!
Cart Path Only
This time of year, you can expect cart path only. They over seeded the fairways which makes for the fairways to be longer than normal. But their greens were grease lighting!! Very fast. A must play!
Bayside Golfers
You are supposed to drive golf cart on cart path some areas that were flooded with water. Also some areas need better signs for directions to next hole. Maybe print a map with hole diagram on score card like some other courses.
Good course and pace of play early in the morning. Back 9 is a bit more challenging than the front as it goes into the marsh land. Excellent greens. Snack bar didn't open until 9am which was a bit disappointing. Should have had more drinking water available on the course as well as some spike brushes. Course should also supply more yardage info as many shots are visually deceiving. Bring your laser yardage finder.
Try it, you'll like it.
One of the beautiful courses right on the marsh and water. You have to think about each shot to score well.
Best of the second tier courses in OC
The best bang for your buck in OC if you can find it for around $60. At $100 you will be disappointed.
Great layout with some of the best finishing holes in OC. Scoring well of the front will give you the best chance to go low for the round. If the wind blows on the back 9, say your prayers!
Would like to play again
Some blind holes and hidden hazards. Lots of places to add strokes. Small greens on some holes. Need to know your distances.
One of the top Ocean City courses
Arrived early and the staff took my clubs and put them in starting order. Starter explained the present course conditions. We had an excellent pace of play. A much better pace once it started raining (everyone else stopped)
Played 2 holes in the rain then the sun returned. I try to play this course 2x a year.
Makes You Think
Tough but fair course. Lot's of water and marsh so you have to plan out your shots.
Great Fun.
Newport Bay is One of the Best in the OC Area
Lots of challenging interesting holes that make you think about each shot. The surrounding marsh land is beautiful - Great views of wildlife abound.
Play it - you'll like it!
You booked it through Golf Now and were unset at the course because you couldn't get your money back? Maybe you should have called Golf Now!
Obviously poor conditions due to rain. That much is evident. In addition if you have a set tee time that you prepaid for then why does it become the fault of the course for honoring that time. You can't expect people to accommodate you at every turn sir.
