Over priced
Can’t believe I spent $70 on a weekday to play on this course dead grass everywhere. They should only charge about $25 for his course.
One of the nicest
This is one of the nicest courses in the area. It’s challenging and fun.
Tantallon/National Golf Course
I took my first golf lesson here with Terry Schaffer that I booked off Groupon. 3 years later I see it's opened through GolfNow. I figured I'd book and check it out. After two days of hard rain the course was saturated with water. But I can definitely see coming back to play when conditions are better. Some terrific holes on this course. Challenging due to the narrowness and close proximity to houses. Thankfully I didn't break any windows. Holes 15 and 16 are awesome!
Private club needs work
The golf carts were in poor condition. Ripped seats, dirty. In this day and age there should be computer screens showing yardage and hazards such as water. There were so many leaves on the fairways that we couldn’t find balls. I have played public courses that were way better than here. The cost should have been half. Understand why they allow non members tee times. Not many members to keep the place open.
National Golf Club - Private??
The course needs a refresh. The carts were old and in poor condition. Ripped seating, exposed torn filling. Better signage regarding food. One would want to wait a minimum time to obtain food stopping between the 9th and 10th holes. Way too much water on each hole. Better clean up of leaves and branches.,
Greta Potential
This course has a great layout and views, makes its fun and challenging round. It has a ton of potential, but the course conditions need a little love. Bunkers were a little bear or thick on most holes. Tee boxes were not very level and little bare as well. Greens were soft and sandy, but had just been punched so hard to tell what they are normally like. Really like this course overall, just needs a little love for its full potential.
Great course, winter greens were a bit rough
It was my first time playing this course. The staff were super friendly and helpful, and the tee boxes and fairways were in great shape. I really loved the course design and it was beautiful with the fall colors.
The course design is outstanding and had a lot more elevation changes than a lot of the DC area courses, with a lot of narrow chute fairways for drives.
Unfortunately the winter greens were pretty aggressively perforated with a LOT of sand, meaning it was very tough to read any break, and putts had to be absolutely hammered. I would love to go back in spring or summer next year, but the level of sand made putting pretty unenjoyable unfortunately. The bunkers were also very tough/compacted and didn't seem to be draining well so bunker shots had to be picked.
Good course for the money
Overall not a bad day. Went midweek in early afternoon and zipped along. Course in decent shape overall. Bunkers are a mess, some bare spots and greens are fluffy. The layout was interesting…some holes you can score well, others are a bigger challenge. I’d go again midweek.
Greens are in terrible conditions
Fairways were good but most of the greens are in terrible shape. They appear to be diseased because brown spots are in the greens.
National Golf Club
Good value for $70, considering the area. I played on a Tuesday at 1145. There were not a lot of players. I went off by myself and played 18 in about 2 hours and 10 minutes. It was fun. As I was finishing it appeared a ladies group was beginning. Greens were good, but tee boxes and fairways could've have been better.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and for acknowledging the value we offer in our area. We apologize if the condition of the tee boxes and fairways did not meet your expectations, but we're glad to hear that you enjoyed your game overall. We appreciate your feedback and hope to see you again soon.
Middle of the Road on Everything
Just ok to average for google out to get a round in. Course was saturated from rain, does not drain well and it was virtually impossible to locate balls in the high gras on multiple holes. Moisture forced plugging of balls and when you step on the fairways and walking areas your foot sinks in the quick sand-rice patty conditions. Got my round in but it was after continuous trials and careful navigation of course conditions.
Thank you for taking the time to review our business. We apologize for the less than satisfactory experience you had with the course conditions. We appreciate your feedback and will address the drainage and overgrown areas to ensure a better playing experience in the future.
Hello, yippy9569. We appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review. We would love to know how we can earn those last two stars next time! Thanks for playing National Golf Club.
Potential but not great
The course conditions were not great. The tee boxes were not even and had tons of patches , some didn’t have any grass at all. The fairways grass was very inconsistent. The greens seemed to be ok, very slow and people are not fixing their pitch marks. Overall the course has potential but for the price it doesn’t seem worth it.
We apologize for the inconvenience you experienced during your visit to our golf course. We appreciate your feedback and will work on improving the tee boxes, fairways, and green conditions. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.

Great course, but not after a rain.
Very wet the day after a rain storm. We had a lightning delay mid-round and returned to the course after 45 minutes. While it was sunny at the clubhouse when we got to our last hole to finish the play, the rains came again after waiting 30 minutes with no let-up, we called it a day. We were issued rain checks for nine holes.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by the weather conditions during your round. We appreciate your understanding and hope to provide a better experience for you in the future.
Not for Avid golfers
No water coolers on the course in 90° weather. The tee boxes are uneven and there is nowhere to get good footing. The fairway is basically the rough with patchy grass. The greens are cut to the length the fairway should be. The pace of play is 5 hours. If you’re looking for an enjoyable round at a course with decent conditions, this is not the place for you. If you don’t care about conditions or playing without water in the dead of summer then this place is for you. Would not recommend for avid golfers. Not to mention they didn’t even have hot dogs at 1 pm.
We appreciate your feedback and apologize for any inconvenience you experienced during your round. We understand that the conditions and amenities did not meet your expectations. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.

Bunkers and cart
The bunkers were in bad shape with standing water. The golf cart center console came apart and feel onto the floor. USB ports did not work.
We apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with the condition of the bunkers and golf cart during your visit. We appreciate your feedback and will take necessary actions to improve our facilities for a better experience. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.
