slow pace on weekends, missed playing back 9 as it got dark at 5pm
This course is well maintained. But on weekends, the pace is slow. A 2 p.m. tee time will get you through front 9 only.
convenient location helps trump mundane layout
This is a decent course that would be vastly improved with some basic changes on a couple of holes.
First and foremost, the par-5 fourth hole needs to be totally rethought. Whoever dreamed that ending the fairway in the middle of the hole made sense was smoking something illegal. Putting a large tree in the center was bad enough, but making the rough cover the landing area for the second shot was too much. All in all, it spoils the whole round just as you're getting started. It would not take that much effort to improve this hole a great deal.
For the rest, it's not a case of fundamentals; it's just that there are very few "wow" holes. This is mostly just "ho-hum" golf. It does not stack up well with all the upscale courses in the area that are more fun and more esthetically pleasing to play.
Good round
My 7th or 8th time on the course. Challenging from the back tees. Many wide and forgiving fairways but lots of hills to create tricky lies. Accuracy and conservative play are rewarded. Our group lost several balls midst fallen leaves in rough just off the fairways. Balls would have been easy to find in summer. Outer greens fringe could have been cropped closer: the grass there was thick & gnarly and balls there were often difficult to extricate. Carts were zippy and in good shape although a hubcap came off mine (LOL -- discovering that golf carts have hubcaps). Greens very fast and in good condition as were the tee boxes. Fast players beware: NO MARSHALS to speed up play but the back 9 played much faster than the front 9. Course is looking healthy compared to 2011 when I last played it, at that time it was worn and tired. Started preserving several eco-areas which means they are conscious of the natural beauty of the area. For those who play to enjoy being outdoors there were some beautiful, colorful vistas on that partly cloudy afternoon in early November.
Great views and well maintained
I really enjoyed this course...so much so that I played it again 4 days later, breaking 90 for the first time of my life! The greens and fairways are in GREAT shape for this time of year. I also enjoyed the layout and the fantastic views on the back 9. The practice facility could be better, especially if the really nice short game practice area was open to the public and not just used for lessons. But the mats on the range are brand new and much nicer than you ordinarily encounter at public courses.
Overall, I enjoyed this course and will be back for more!
Falls Road GC is one of the better golf courses in Montgomery County , Maryland. The course is in great shape and the greens are fast.
I always enjoy playing at Falls Road GC.
The course is one of the better golf courses in
Montgomery County, Maryland. The greens are fast.
During the regular season you can play 18 holes in 4.5 to 5 hours.

well maintained and friendly guide
Even though I've never been to a number of courses around Rockville area, this course would be one of the best. It was also good to me the course is not to difficult or not to monotone to enjoy in the field. Besides maintenance for the green, fairway and so on as well as carts was in very good condition. I would love to play again as long as my time and finance are available.
Great Course. Will Play Again
This was one of the better public courses I've played in the DC area; the greens, tee boxes and fairways were in excellent shape. The course wasn't particularly challenging, but had enough in terms of hazards and elevation changes to keep me guessing on how far my shots would carry.
Very organized and professional.
The course was well mananged. The staff was very professional. The starters were very cordial and informative. First time I felt comfortable heading to tee number one with a positive attitude because the starters were so friendly and not pushing you to the tee. The complex was organized and well maintained. The 19th hole was inviting and pro shop staff were extremely nice.
Good course for walking golfers.
Busy public course on Saturdays with friendly players.
Pace is normal ( less than 4 hrs).
Level course for easy walking. Well maintained.
Beautiful Course with great fairways and good greens
Falls Road is a fun course, always beautiful fairway views. Condition of course was very good, especially the fairways. The Pro Shop, Starter, and Snack Bar employees were very cordial and helpful.
Good track!
Nice course. Great scenery a real hidden gem! Challenging a plays long at times!
Good municipal course
Generally good condition for overused course. Some difficult holes. Decent experience
Only worthwhile at a discount
An average course. Very busy; fairly slow play. Wanted to play this course as it is the last of the 9 MCG courses that I hadn't played. Compared to the other eight, I'd rank this one at the bottom. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the course. It is well maintained. It is just "uneventful". Fairly flat; no exceptionally beautiful or challenging holes. Just a nice, average course with no real stand out features or holes. Great deal on GolfNow.
The course is so crowded!
The course is so crowded! it takes more time to wait than to play. We have to skip few holes because of slow players. Fairway and green are fairly maintained. Need more marshal check up for the pace.
The over all course conditions are better than average.
Over all better than average conditions. Seems most players do not know to fix ball marks on the the green. Just because you don't
spin the ball back does not mean you don't leave a ball mark.
I was always taught to fix my ball mark and maybe one someone else missed.
Greens in poor condition
15 out of 18 greens not in good condition. Ball bumps across the greens altering its line. Greens in need of an aeration an early morning roll out.
Nice track! Well maintained.
Falls Road is a very popular golf course, always busy. Despite the heavy play, the course is kept in good shape and pace of play is very good. Sand traps have real sand and greens run well. Only wish the bugs would go away-- there always seems to be a cloud of bugs around, bothering the golfers a bit.
Good round, decent price.
We had a good round yesterday, and our twosome was paired with another twosome, which is to be expected on a Saturday. Overall the course conditions were good, although some of the greens were better, and some worse. The pace of play was a little sluggish, and we were waiting on many shots for the group in front of us to clear landing area. They were waiting on the foursome in front of them, and we couldn't determine where the slowdown originated, but it was closer to a 5 hour round by the time we were all said and done. Not unexpected for a weekend, but it made it hard to maintain pace. The only recommendation that I'd suggest to the groundskeeping staff is that on some of the holes, where the blue and black tees were in essentially the same spot, perhaps they should consider moving the blue tees forward. It might help the pace of play.
TONS of play, so it's hard to maintain
The fairways and greens were very used. People don't seem to fill their divots and fix their ball marks. It is the most crowded of the 9 MCG courses, and you can tell. All in all, 6/10
