Great course, horrible groundskeeper
I have played this course many times of the years and let me just start off by saying that most of the staff are really trying to make the course better. Scott the head pro, has hired 2 assistants that are making numerous improvements around the pro shop, and are doing a wonderful job. I have noticed that a lot of the staff have been replaced and it was for the better, they have all been extremely accommodating and professional with me. The pro shop just a few years ago was outdated, and had almost no inventory. Now it feels like a real golf shop with prices so fair that I am happy to buy from there rather than any big box store. Sadly though I wish that I could write a review that was all positive, but there are negatives with this place. I played yesterday on Memorial Day and for some reason the course is still cart path only, when I asked indoors about it I was told that’s what the superintendent has told us our policy is and we have no idea when it will not be Cart path only. I play golf often at many different courses around the area and this is the only course that is still cart path only. I have difficulty understanding why other courses that are not executive courses that are in much better shape allow carts off the path but for some reason the superintendent here feels as though that would hurt something. Even worse than the cart path only though is the condition of the grass and greens. The grass is so thick around here that it literally feels as if you are playing in the U.S. Open at Bethpage Black. You can’t find your ball, and as a mid handicapper it’s almost impossible to hit your balls out of it, Also with the cart path only it just slows down the pace of play even more because of how hard it is to find your ball in the rough. The tee boxes are cut so high that even with a 3 inch tee it’s not high enough to tee up above the grass. Im not sure if maybe the grounds crew was on vacation and maybe that’s why the grass was so high but if that’s the condition they normally have it then quite frankly the superintendent should be ashamed. The greens are not in good shape, long grass, unrepaired divots, dead spots, and poorly cut cups. This course has so much potential and like I said the new management in the pro shop is trying extremely hard and doing a great job. The only thing holding this course back in my opinion is the condition of the course.
Great tune up course.
Overall a excellent executive course. The course was very good shape.and Improvements are appreciated. A great way to tuneup game in around 3 hours.
Great experience
A nice short course for beginners or just a casual player. Staff very friendly and some killer dog action at the turn.
Love the Springs
Wow the improvements to the course and clubhouse really seal the deal. Course looks and plays great !!! Great staff and new amenities go a long way. Can’t wait to play again. Would recommend this course !!! Thanks !!!
Not for single handicap players
Course was very short and not challenging at all. This course is more for those who are getting into golf or just enjoy being out on the course. Single handicap golfers will breeze through this course without struggle. Not worth the money
Sunday Golf
Had a great round at Willow Springs. We played 18 in just under 3 1/2 hours. Started on 10 for some reason. Only issue is the tee boxes are not in great shape. Otherwise course is in great shape and the staff was very nice. Great value for the money for sure!
course management
Course needs to be maintained better for the price, rough is very bad, lots of patchy grass with clumps of grass, almost impossible to hit a shot out of. fairways were fine. greens need to be cleaned off. there was severe debris on every green. and the course marshal was not doing their job. i spent 10+min waiting at each and every home for the group ahead of me to tee off. nothing was done about the pace of play when asked to help speed them up.
Good value but fix amenities
Enjoyed the course but ball washing stations were empty and no water on course to refill water bottles
Very good executive course .. and getting even better
Willow Springs is an outstanding executive course that is always in good shape ... even in the winter months. Great mix of par 3's and challenging par 4's and perfect for all levels of playing ability. New management team has made really great upgrades to both the course and facilities and the indoor golf simulator is perfect for practice and lessons. I'm going to scheduled some lessons with one of their 3 on-site teaching professionals to sharpen up my game for the upcoming season. Love the new upgrades and plan to play here more often.
Course play
This is the first time I have played Willow Springs in a long time. From what I can see they have improved the course quite a bit since I last played. Not as much trash grass as there used to be. Although this is February, the course was in pretty good shape. I am looking forward to playing this course once the weather breaks and the conditions are more favorable. Although Willow Springs is not a very long course it is very good for your approach shots and short game.
Staff was very professional and courteous. I would definitely recommend this course to others. Had a very enjoyable round and will return
Very crowded
Players on every hole making us wait on every hole. Players spent too much time looking for their ball and no ranger was on the course to keep the players moving
