Always a pleasure to play!
Absolutely enamored with the golf course, the staff and the overall facilities. Will definitely play again, and again, and again.
However, was not happy with the $11.90 in taxes and online fee's I was hit with on GolfNow. Will make it a point to review the true "overall" cost in the future. Probably could've played for a cheaper rate as a senior, booking thru the clubhouse. A little disappointing.
Deceptively Difficult
Not having played here before, so it was difficult knowing where trouble was, but getting in the rough made the ball hard to find. Fairways are undulating like the course.
Beautiful and challenging
Worthington Manor is one of my favorite tracks in Maryland. The course is always in great shape and the staff is exceptionally courteous. It gets your attention immediately with three challenging opening holes. And it closes with a difficult downhill par three 17th and a long uphill par five 18th. And they welcome my GolfBoard! Always a blast to surf the earth at this venue.
Terrific value for a public course
Excellent value for a public course. Fantastic condition, great value for the money. Love how they've maintained and incorporated the barns and out-buildings from yesteryear. Greens are as fast and smooth as they get on public courses. Food and beverage is very vanilla and lacking any type of sophistication. But if that keeps the prices lower than over public courses in this echelon, I'm OK with it.
Very satisfied
Im from NY i visit family in Frederick every summer and always bring my stix. So far played Whiskey Creek and Musket ridge and recently Worthington Manor. I have zero (0) complaints about any. Definitely loved Whiskey and Worthington but all 3 highly recommended. Worthington has an old charm to it which i like. The clubhouse and barnes are great sights to see. Im from the city so seeing the farm land is nice. Stay out of the 18th fairway bunker at worthington. Its littered with rocks. Not a bad thing. Just another reason to avoid trouble and be accurate. I went out at 730 am solo. Next t time was at 8 so i had no time complaints. I think price is decent for time of year but i usually dont like to pay more than $50 a round. But im on vacation so i dont mind the $70. Brought my own water and snacks so i gave a 4 for food. Their are water coolers throughout so that was nice. Course is well maintained and beautifully manicured. Fast greens. 95% of putts had a break. Hardly any were straight.
Beautiful course and worth the money if you can afford it
Every tee box, fairway, rough and green was in magnificent condition. Challenging greens overall with bunkers where they need to be. Would be nicer with more water hazards. Highly recommend and plan to return for more rounds.
Great Course!
Offers up a challenge to all golf skill levels. The greens are fast and undulating- so be ready for breaks! Most holes offer up wide enough fairways that you can avoid trouble; however a few of them slope so don't be surprised to end up in a different spot from where you first landed.
Staff is friendly and they have a solid practice facility.
Go enjoy a fun and challenging round at Worthington!
Great Crouse
This was my first playing the course and it was a wonderful experience. From the very first hole to the 18th each hole has challenge for all levels of play. The service was great and friendly and while I was puttiing on the 18th green one of the course service techs was cleaning my clubs.
One of the best metro courses
I play WM periodically and it is always in excellent shape. Very challenging - particularly on the greens. I really enjoy playing the course although it always seems to get the better of me. A beautiful lay-out with ample opportunities to score and/or blow up a hole. The front nine is considerably harder than the back (in my opinion) so be patient. The third hole is one of the more challenging holes in the metro area. Enjoy....no matter what.
Playing at Worthington Manor
I would recommend playing at Worthington
Manor for the first time experience.
Course is in great condition. Greens in great condition. I found course difficult. Not many flat areas on greens. Pace of play extremely slow ( cart path only that day ). I'm a 15 handicapper. Shot 91.
Great course, slow play
The course was in very good condition. The design is great, the surroundings are quit. My only real complaint was the pace of play. My tee time was 11:30 on a Monday . So I expected it to be pretty empty. Unfortunately it took me nearly 3 hours to play the back. There was no marshals to help with the pace either. Otherwise good.
Most Underated Course
This course is my favorite in the area, every hole is either at the top of a hill or the fairway is across a gully. I should have been aware that the US Open qualifier was being held the next day. Made the pace of play not enjoyable. This course has everything going for it right now, it is not well known in the area as a premier course other than having the qualifier and its weekend price. However, as pricey as it is after 4pm on the weekend is $39 all you can play which is more than worth it. This course plays well for big hitters but on some holes you can not be off your aim too far without penalty. I continue to advertise for this course and will be back for my revenge on the scorecard.
Course has grown in nicely
I first played this course when it opened in the late 90s and it has grown in very well. It's a very pretty layout and the first three holes, in particular, are beauties. Undulating greens and elevation changes make it challenging but the good news is you can usually find your ball. It's fairly priced for the layout and the excellent conditions but I find it does exceed my budget unless I get a deal or I play during twilight hours.
Great practice facility
Played Worthington with a group of friends this past weekend. We all have played the course multiple times and I live close by in Leesburg. I scheduled a tee time for 12 and when we arrived the starter told us that there was a shotgun start starting at noon for six foursomes. The starter was super nice and said we could get ahead of the large group and start on the 7th. This worked out because he let us continue and finish 7,8,and 9 for a total of 21 holes played. That was the perk of the round.
The downside of the round was the Marshall on the course. He had no clue that we were not apart of the shotgun and on a few occasions said we had to hurry up our play. We aren't scratch golfers but play a fair amount in the summer months. The Marshall didn't say please and continued to follow us on a few holes. Guy was a real jerk and completely different from the nice and friendly starter at the beginning of our round.
I love this course and was in great shape considering it just hosted a U.S. Open qualifier in May. The staff has always been courteous and friendly. This was an unfortunate event and my buddies and I felt rushed rather than enjoying the round. Management should no better to schedule a noon shotgun and not have communication as to who is who on the course. Don't think I'll be playing it again anytime soon!
Pace of play needs improvement
They actually stuck our foursome behind a tournament on a Saturday!!!
Worthington Manor
Course is in excellent shape, and staff is very pleasant. The GPS on the carts is somewhat limited in scope compared to those at other courses, and the one in my cart was not 100% readable, but I managed.
Too slow
It was packed. Very slow pace. And there are several blind spots without any warning sign or bell to notify group behind you. Sometimes the balls just fly by...
Such an enjoyable round of golf!
I read some reviews which said it was a tough course to play which concerned me as my wife has a handicap of 24 but the design and layout of the course is such that with thought about which club to take particularly off the tee rather than try and hit the ball as far as you can the course is tricky but can be played by a high handicapper with a great deal of excitement and enjoyment.
The pace of play was the only downside as the groups in front were losing balls having taken drivers off all tees except the par 3s, rather than play for position, however the Couse Marshall was very evident in his presence around the course, he made 5 circuits during our round which did help a lot. What was very noticeable was the Course Marshall took time to watch each group to see if he could help them.
The course was in excellent condition and comparable to the top courses I have played around the world.
The courtesy and friendliness of all the Staff was beyond reproach, from the Bag Drop Staff, to the Clubhouse Staff, the Starter and the Course Marshall.
All in all a great experience.
Love this course
This is one of the best courses in the DC Metro area. Course conditions were excellent and the staff is always friendly.
Worth the Drive...
I selected this course given its rating on Golf Now along with the price I was able to pay. Given that the course was set for a US Open Qualifier on the next Monday, it was quite challenging. The rough was rough and the greens were fast. I was pared with two folks I met at the course while walking in, along with a Marshall that had the day off. What a pleasure! I look forward to playing this course next time I visit the DC area.
