Fairways were only "fair"
Tee boxes and fairways are still waiting for enough spring growth to be enjoyable. Greens were is very good shape for mid April. I am sure more good weather will improve conditions.
In all fairness
This course could be a really nice one. I think the owners may be just doing the basics to keep it going. And i guess since it's so pretty in certain spots and the area is so pretty, they just leave it be. Cartpaths are horrendous and will kill your behind. Cartpath only rules even when it wasn't wet the other day. Lots of broken tree limbs even sitting in the cartpaths. Ball cleaners (no water). Greens seem to have had several types of different grass and really slow , holes in the greens , dead trees line the course with piles of burnt wood visible to players.parking lot is way too small and need alot of work. Snack bar is something you would find at a baseball game and the room could be fixed really nice, with just a little remodel The one course toilet was worse thsn i have ever seen in my life and there was onky one , rotted wood structires everywhere. Simple and inexpensive fixes and some regular maintenance and this would be a really , really nice place. But not at the moment. Sorry for the honest reviews. On the bright side it is a picturesque place for a course and it's a golf course , that was my two compliments. With the business they do get , you would think they could do better.
Clinchview is always a fun
Played on Sunday morning...St Patrick's Day.
Pace was slower than usual.
The course was in good shape for early spring...greens were very good.
Great
Course was in great shape as always. Really enjoyed my round!!
Great looking course
Compared to other courses I’ve played at, the par 3’s & 4’s are long, which I liked. Fairway was in great shape. Even the rough was well taken care of. To someone of my talents, which is little to none, the greens were very challenging compared to a lot of courses I’ve played. Lots of roll and hard slopes. Not saying that’s a bad thing even though my scorecard disagrees. I would definitely play there again.
Personal overview
Great course. Value is fantastic. Course very well maintained. A pleasure to play.
Course shape
A few of the greens are in pretty rough shape. Overall course was in good shape.
Weirdest Interaction Ever
I show up 30 minutes before my tee time. I see the gentleman who is running the pro shop. He sees me. He is on his cellphone and continues his conversation for 10 minutes while I wait at the counter. Eventually he comes over and asks how he can help me, I let him know i have a tee time, he looks on his list and says he doesn't see me. I inform him I paid online. So he looks and says oh I see, then he stares at me and says how much did you pay, so I told him and asked if he wanted to see a receipt. He said no, you just missed out on saving 8 dollars. I was like, okay? He proceeded to stare at me. So I asked if he wanted more money or something. He said no, you just paid "THEM". I was like you mean Golfnow? Yes, you paid "THEM" and missed out on 8 dollars. I said I looked on your home website and it would've been 20 dollars more to book it there. And he said no you should of come in and I would've made a deal with you. I asked him how I was suppose to know that and he said well you paid them and missed out on 8 dollars. Then he said we don't see a dime of the money from Golfnow. So I asked why they would use them and he said word for word "They're big business and they bully us" I said that sucks. Then we stared at eachother for about 30 seconds, I broke the silence by asking if I could play golf now. Im afraid if I never asked I would've been stuck in an NPC loop for the rest of my life.
Excellent for the price
The course was in very good shape. The greens were fast and true with several false fronts, but there were a few divots that were ignored (not the courses fault). The fairways were mostly great, but the rough could have been a little longer to help define it. I thoroughly enjoyed the round, and for the price it can't be beat.
