Great value
Great value course for what you pay to play with a cart. Well kept fairways, solid greens, fair length if you wanna walk 18. I would recommend. No driving range to warm up however.
Stay Away
Had a bad incident a year ago, fivesome of drunk members held up everything. Member tried to attack one of our group for complaining. Management did nothing.
Against our better judgement, tried again this month. This time a maintenance worker yelling obscenities for us giving a head's up before hitting in his direction. Again, management notified and did nothing.
Stay away from this course at all costs. If you're not a member, they treat the public like garbage. Not a course that's special enough to put up with that abuse. Plenty of better courses in the area. Will never play here ever again.
Steer Clear of this Course
Have played this course several times many years ago with no issues. Present times have changed dramatically. Played on 4th of July weekend last year and encountered a drunk fivesome of members in front of us. They were on their second loop of 18 and had everyone backed up. Called the pro shop for assistance and instead, they called the group and pointed out that we complained. This led to one of the members charging over to our group on 17 and trying to fight. Spoke to management and nothing was done. Swore we would never go back.
Gave them a second chance yesterday. BIG MISTAKE! No one on the course. Perfect day. Everything was wonderful. Got to the 8th hole and the maintenance guys were blowing out the sprinkler heads. Partner was in the woods, yelled to the maintenance guy who was in front of him about 40 yards to watch himself. Said it as a courtesy and with no intentions except to warn the guy that he was hitting. The maintenance guy, a rather rotund, bearded slob of a man in overalls then started yelling to "hit the f$#*#@g ball, I'm working here". Continued his tirade as we passed by calling us "a'holes".
Went to the clubhouse at the turn. Spoke to the manager Scott and told him what had just occurred. He was less than helpful, actually useless would be a better term. Said he'd speak to the guy's supervisor. The guy remained on the job, as we saw him as we were leaving. This course, their members and their staff are an absolute disgrace. The paying public have no standing here. AVOID this place at all costs.
Pace of play
My friends and I played in the afternoon. The front 9 holes went well, we made the turn and there was group of 7. Players that appeared out of no where in front of us. Shocked is the only word left to say about this I have never been to a course that allowed this no ranger on the course. Called the pro shop no answer never will we go there again.
Great Layout
Norton Country Club is an excellent course for the experienced golfer. The conditions of the course are incredible and you have to bring your "A" game with you in order to score low. The fairways and greens are in great condition and the course is extremely challenging. They have a special on Tuesdays and Wednesdays which includes 18 holes with a cart and lunch for $50!! It's the best deal in the area especially for the course conditions.
One of the tougher courses in Massachusetts
As a former member I would recommend this course to anyone in the area. The course is tight and tough, you must hit it straight off the tee on every hole. The only complaint about Norton CC is that there is no driving range, no hitting area at all. If there was one I would be a member once again.
