Mosquito infested swamp track
Played 5 out of the 6 Gull Lake View courses last week. Rank this one last (didn't play the West course of Gull Lake View surmise that to be pretty much the same except for maybe the swamp parts). Really friendly staff and really good conditioning. Decent but dated clubhouse and facilities. Slightly above average lunch/dinner food...from what I hear their breakfast omlettes are outstanding. Driving range/Huge practice greens....appears one used to be a putting course. A tight tree lined design where you're shaping shots/avoiding trees (don't go into the forest you'll get you'll be swarmed by bugs).....several framed by green dirty swamp water especially on the back nine. Many elevated greens a lot of tucked pin positions that force play to centers of greens. No holes that really stand out so much that would make me want to travel to play them again. I was local.....sans the pesky bugs.... (doused myself with bug spray 4 times during the round)....I'd probably only play this track in a pinch. Our group was on a package deal staying on location.....the bed I had to sleep on had a horribly worn out mattress....so I really don't miss Gull Lake View after 5 nights. 5 of 6 Gull Lake View courses are just average to slightly above average golf courses. This one is a 35 value/3.3 stars.
Disappointed in course condition
I've been excited to play this course for 2yrs now. Finally got out on a Hot Deal and was very disappointed. The course layout was Awesome. Lots of challenging holes. Tee boxes and fairways the worst in the area. Greens were in pretty good shape.. For the price you pay and being a resort course I expected much better.
Great course for hot deal
The course was overall a great course compared to anything else around the area defiantly some of the best greens around. I’m not sure if I would pay full price to play the course but whenever there is a hot deal no better value. The fairways were just a little rough you can tell it’s been played a lot. Not really enough to effect your play. If you have the time available and see this deal definitely jump on it. Have fun and keep it on the fairway!
Will give it another chance
First time down at this resort. Scouting for a summer golf trip. Funky layout, especially the back 9. Tees boxes and fairways pretty rough but you can tell they get a ton of rounds here. No one fixes divots or pitch marks. Need sand bottles on carts.
Very friendly staff. Everyone was very nice. Will be back to try other tracks they offer before recommending this resort to my trip mates.
Very Slow Play and No Rangers
Our round took 4 hours and 40 minutes and not a ranger in sight. Never again.
Where's the ranger?
Pitiful pace of play on a perfect day for golf. There was a foursome that had the whole track backed up. Finally gave up and drove in after fifteen. The slow group was hitting their approach shot on 17 - no one on the green or 18. They were more interested in annoying everyone with the dreaded blu-tooth boombox cranked up high enough to hear three holes behind them. It was kids day without tickets and we won't be back.
Haven’t played since they opened
Wow! The course was fully grown in compared to previous play a few years back..which made it a bit more of a delight to play. Super impressed with the layout, the fairways/greens the difficulty, and pace(Only walker on the course)! Lots of rain made it a bit tough to play some of those deep bunker shots. Can’t wait to get back out and play!
The course is fun to play.
This course is always well kept and is in a great location.
We had breakfast before the round at the restaurant. The people there are very nice and helpful. It makes fir a great day.
The greens were the worst of the 6 courses we played associated with Gull Lake View, it appeared as something was leaking from the mower on the greens.
