Friendly Staff, Nothing Else
Very disappointed in the condition of the course today during my first round there. Fairways and tee boxes were extremely long compared to most Metro Detroit courses.
Some of the greens had multiple cups in them. Scorecard yardages compared to actual yardages with a rangefinder are extremely off.
For experienced players, you will be hitting driver only on a few holes because the tee box locations are so abnormal that there are barely any landing zones over 250+ yards.
For a $30 Weekend Hot Deal, definitely wouldn't recommend to any golfer at any level, better off paying an additional $10-$20 to play at a better-manicured course.
Great gem!
This course has tons of potential! Great variety of hole types, from almost 600 yard holes to an exciting island green!
The staff is excellent and very friendly.
Overall, a great course for the cost.
Hidden Jem shhhh
I love this place the staff is over the top friendly and accommodating. One of the few courses that still loan coolers for free. Even the course workers are super nice and will give you tips on the course layout. Place is in great shape with long challenging ruff then 3 ft tall grass outside that so hit em straight. Greens are small and sloped and run slow to help with the slope, fairways are green but firm lots of roll. I drive a hr each way but it’s worth it to not be backed up 4 at a tee box, absolute must play. Again can’t stress enough how nice the staff is. Only con you are in the middle of nowhere so service is bad on the gps on my phone. Ps near 15 there is a monster snapping turtle getting sun near the cart path some days.
Worth It
This is a surprisingly challenging course. It requires some shotmaking and is a really fun course. The greens are challenging and the course is in good shape. I play this course at least once a year on vacation and the staff is next-level friendly. If you are even remotely close it’s with the drive to play!
Great course
Super friendly staff, course is in pretty good shape with the heat we’ve had. Would play again
Greens were in good condition. A little slow , but rolled very nice. Areas around greens was well maintained. Fairways were average at best . But for the money it was fun to play . Big hitters might not like how often you hit less than driver off the tee .
Castle Creek
Course tee boxes and fairways are not as good as my home clubs' driving range hitting areas. Sand traps are marginally cared for, greens are shaggy and slow with pins cut in undulating sections where a trained superintendent would not place a pin. Played on a "hot deal" from Golfnow, but was very disappointed in condition of course. Rough was not being cut evenly and consistently throughout course. This was a play and forget course for me. Club staff was friendly and accommodatingl.
Thank you for reviewing the course. Let us first start by apologizing for the poor experience you had during your visit. Your feedback about the course is important to us. We are working to get everything up to par. We have projects ongoing to recover the fairways and tee boxes. We are going to escalate your feedback to our team so we can make improvements before your next game, and we will continue to work towards an excellent experience by using your comment for guidance. Thank you for playing Castle Creek Golf Club. We hope to see you again soon.
This is a fun course
I really enjoy Castle Creek. Course is in great condition and lots of workers on course maintaining it. Good challenge with a variety of holes and nestled in nature where you see plenty of wildlife as you go around the course.
Staff are friendly and took just over 2 hours for me to complete 18 with the cart (have also walked it previously which is fun too). I would definitely recommend it.
Decent course, people in area are terrible
Round was decent, course needed some maintenance but nothing too bad. HOWEVER, I left my range finder on the cart. Called up a few hours later and nobody had turned it in. Just goes to show, you go to a low income area and people have no problem stealing from you, will never be back to this podunk area again
Hidden gem
I played this course three times in the past seven days. The greens are immaculate. They rival the greens at many higher end courses I’ve played. The course has a few mature oak and maple trees. One of the holes backs up to several apple trees, watch out for the deer meandering through. The clubhouse staff, groundskeepers, and maintenance personnel are friendly and they actually make you feel welcome. This translates to a great golf experience. For example, I played as a single two of the three times I’ve played there, the groups that I came up on always waved me through. I love the layout of this course and it’s well worth the 30 mile drive to play it. I highly recommend this course. See the photo of the par 4 that’s completely surrounded by water.
