In Bad Condition...
First time going there, was a nice layout of a course, but some of the worst conditions ive ever seen. The tee boxes have minimal grass left, leaving it just to be dirt and some left over patches of grass. The greens are nearly unplayable, cracked and missing grass. Some greens even have sand and dirt all over it. The fairways are very thin and dry, basically penalized for hitting the ball in the fairway on some holes. Not worth $30 right now.
had a good time
we had a wonderful time ! only one issue was the falling leaves, lost several balls in the fairway.
Course Staff
Course counter staff sure seemed put off that we used Golf Now to do our tee time booking. He was pretty rude! Probably will not be back for this reason alone. Course could use some needed maintenance for sure. However, it was playable and we did have a good round. Not many golfers at the course. Maybe because of the counter staff. We were very disappointed a felt disrespected by the man working the counter. Maybe he was having a bad day.
Course in bad need of care.
Fairways were 80 % weeds. They were also in need of cutting. It was like the rough at other courses. Greens had several areas of no grass. Looked mottled. You also had to.knock down the ant hills before putting. I haved played there before and really liked the layout. Quite challenging. No money is usually the reason for letting the course go. I played 18 by myself and never saw another golfer. Can not recommend this course.
Very nice course for the money
It was a very nice course the only problem were that the greens were a little ripped up but it was overall a very nice course for how much you pay.
pine river
we had a great time, wonderfull course, will recommend this place to all, we plan to go back as often as possible.
Greens are in bad shape
Interesting holes but the fungus on the greens make putting impossible! The carts are not in great shape either! It is a decent course for the money.
Great value
Back nine was great! Front nine pretty burned up but all in all a nice round at a great price
Nice Course
Nice course. Wide open front 9 sets you up for a very tough wooded back 9. Course conditions are pretty good. Lots of wildlife on the back 9.
Messy course
I understand spring golf is a little sloppy at times but cutting a hole in the middle of a flat hill is not a "temp green" staff claimed the water wouldn't allow the bridges to be installed so basically 2 holes on the front 9 were unplayable. Over priced microwave hotdogs were only food available. The sand traps were a total mess and not a rake in sight on the entire course. I won't waste the time to give this place another round.
Pine River GC in Standish, MI
Got the "hot" deal for $10/player plus fees.
The course was in good shape from the fairways to the greens. I had played this course before so my expectations were in place upon arriving. The fairways are like an average back yard. They are also pretty thin (not much grass between the ball and the dirt). The greens were long (about a 7 on the Stimpmeter). There was a cart girl that came around about 4 times while we played which was nice as it was hot and humid...but I must admit, I was getting settled into a shot when she came driving up the fairway behind me....and kept coming and coming. I would have to back off my shot to try to reset.
The front nine is wide open and is much easier than the back nine. The back nine has some short holes but they are tree lined. I just knocked a 3-iron around and managed to do well. Some of the back nine holes also require you to hit a draw in order to play a driver, which many golfers would find challenging.
All in all...for $10/player I would travel back here no doubt. But I couldn't see being happy paying paying more than $20 for 18 and a cart at this course.
Pine River Course
The course was in average condition but could use more attention to detail and manicuring. There could also be more attention in and around the club house.
We found the greens to be a little long which slowed them down considerably but all-in-all we had a good time and would play again.
We like that the front and back nines are different.
Course is in good condition AND there is a casino only about 5 miles away.
The Tale of Two Nines
Front nine is wide open and hilly. Back nine is shorter but tighter, carved out of the forest. A great way to spend the day.
good course for beginner or experienced golfer
this course has enough features to make it interesting for the experinced golfer as well as the beginner. it has challenges that aren't brutal.
Good value
I had my doubts when I pulled in but was pleased with the overall experience given how affordable the course was. Front and back are two different courses but both are manageable and fun. Good course for beginners and high handicappers. Played at 1:00pm on a Saturday and never had a pace issue (Just about 4 hrs). Staff was friendly and the food/beer was cheap.
Nice course
Front nine was pretty flat and ordinary but the back nine was much better. Enjoyed the back nine much better
Feels like a Northern Mi course
We were pleasantly surprised how nice the back 9 was. Some spring issues with water on the front 9 but nothing that will keep us away in the future.
