Country Club of Miami - West
About
The Country Club of Miami, located near residential areas, boasts two courses, the East Course and the West Course. Both golf courses at the club have seen many famous players including Jackie Gleason, Bob Hope, and Jack Nicklaus. The West Course features rolling greens as well as many strategically placed bunkers. Water hazards also come into play on a few holes. The course is very well maintained and provides a good game for players of any skill level. Conveniently, the golf club has a large pitting, putting, and chipping area where golfers can work on their short game and there is also a grass driving range.

Good cart paths
The best thing I can say about this course is they have nice cart paths. The rest of the course is very bad the are very slow the fairways roll faster than the greens, because there is nothing there. Don’t waste your time
Played East not West
Pace of play could be better. Played front 9 with 3 gentlemen who were fairly slow. I like to play at a faster pace. They dropped off for lunch after the front 9. Caught up with a group of 4 who did not seem to want to let me play through as a single. I did go around them and caught up with others who I joined. Pace of play picked up then.
Great history and challenging layout.
Water and sand galore. Pace of play was good and everyone was friendly. Burger and beer afterwards was delicious. However the sand was thin in the traps and grass was rough in places. The course was priced accordingly and so it was all good. A great day on the course.
Staff Unprofessional
The staff was super unprofessional and not helpful. We paid for 18 holes at 2:50 tee time thinking we had until sunset like every other course in south Florida! Which is 6:30 PM. Plenty of time to finish but around 5:10 PM with an hour and some time left for sunset the cart guy starts picking up the flags saying we have to be off by 5:20 because that’s there closing time. However the staff in clubhouse never mentioned the time before we paid for 18 holes and when we went back to atleast get half our money back they stated they couldn’t because that’s their policy that isn’t disclosed anywhere! Apart from this we’ve played once before and they were super rude as well.
Ok for a $40 Course
Waited in line 30 minutes to check in. Sanford was alone working the desk, and was slow and rude. Course was ok only because I got a hot deal for $40. Would NOT pay any more than that for this place. They did let me walk instead of a cart so that was a bonus. I recommend this course if paying less than $45/round.
Rough
The greens were rolling at a 2, and the course was beat up. This place has so much potential, as the layoff can be challenging. Aesthetically speaking, it’s rough.
Will be back
New green seeding is filling in and the groundskeeper has begun mowing them.
Will be back
Greens were seeded almost three weeks ago, good grass growth coming in since then, so they are slow. Some of the patches that were inserted arent very level. They are trying, even saw some fairways being watered between groups.
Very nice for the price
The course was really nice for that low price but if you look for un better course you will have to pay 2-3 times that price. The carts work perfectly and you can enjoy yourself with this difficult layout
Needs work
Carts not available when tee times arrived, to much money
For a not well maintained corse, very very slow play pace
No ranger to help pace
Windy chilly day
Temp was high 60's by noon, very windy ( about 10 to 15 mph w/ a few gust)
Lay-out has lots of water, a lot of fariways have hazards to navagate off the tee-box. Sand traps were in excellant condition, the greens need help ( lots of crab grass and other alien stuff growing ) . Wasn't a prefect roll on the green , but managable compare to other courses with similar conditions. The fairways had some bare-spots, but it is January .
Overall, its a public golf course and it is as good or a bit better than other municipalies.
For the price, I was play again.
