Best greens you will play in the state
I have played this course many times over the last 8 years. In my opinion, the most important part of most golf courses is the layout and the condition of the greens. That said, here are my thoughts on this course:
Pros: At Dahlgreen, the greens are amazing at ALL times. I have played most of the great courses in the state and have not putted on better greens. The speed is great (~9 stimp meter) and more importantly, they are smooth, lush, and look perfect. The layout is moderately challenging. There are trees everywhere, so there is definitely a penalty for inaccurate tee shots, but there are no forced carries and you can usually have a decent shot from the trees if you do go astray. Course length is challenging for most (6400 from the whites, 6700 from the blues). The staff has been great. The proshop staff is amazing and most of the bar/dining area and beverage cart staff are fun and friendly as well.
Cons: The par 3's are all roughly the same yardage (150-170). It would be nice to have a little more variety here. Also, the beverage/dining service (which is run separately from the golf course) is inconsistent. On-course beverage service is a bit unpredictable at times and the bar area is not always open consistently on weekend mornings.
Overall:
I can't recommend this course enough. The condition is excellent, the atmosphere is friendly and laid back. Definitely worth the drive!
US Kids Golf friendly? Not!!!
Called course Saturday, spoke with nice young women asked about following day policy/rates on my 8 year old boy playing tomorrow at 8:30am. She stated bring him out he can ride along, likely at no cost even if he plays a little. I show up, bring him in to clubhouse, wanted to be transparent and ask what his rate would be, willing to pay. Steve, owner/GM is working. He insisted that this 8 year old will be charged as an adult!!!! $71.50!!! I asked, “ are you serious?” I paid it. This one time, he will get my money for my boy, one time. Hey, Dahlgreen isn’t a dog track but it’s not Pinehurst. My son and I have played much more superior courses, and THEY EVEN offer a junior rate. Felt like a money grab for an average course in an average location. Steve, I suggest you revisit your junior rate. Are you a proponent of kids golf or a proponent of the bottom line only? Or at a minimum, train your staff properly to advise correctly. Best of luck.
Dahlgreen
Dahlgree is in great condition . The round was a great challenge and a lot of fun. The greens are excellent thank you
Nice course. Not so much Customer service.
Don't be late or it'll cost you. 1:59 tee time. Got there 17 minutes late on a Sunday. Not even busy
Dude told me my rate wasn't available anymore at that time and I had to pay the difference. My response was "whatever" I'm not about to drive 45 minutes back home without playing. He asked me what I paid and I told him I didn't know. He couldn't pull it up either. I pulled up my confirmation email and what I paid isn't listed. So I had to pull up my bank statement. I paid $31 for the round so he made me pay $26 more to cover. I've used golf now for 5 years and probably played 200 rounds using it. Never has that happened. Nice course, but I'll never be back.
Hit It Straight
Beautiful layout. With narrow fairways it pays to hit it straight. Long and off the fairway will put you in the trees with your next being a punch shot. The greens are fantastic. Plenty of slope and breaks that are tough to read. This pastoral setting is hard to beat...and close to town. I'm going back to teach those greens a lesson.
Public Friendly
Course is public friendly. Has some challenges but you don't need to be perfect all the time. Tree areas are clear and playable.
Pace of play was SLOW for 9 holes. Avoid playing behind the womens league.
First time there.
Cost is on the high side. Could make it more affordable. A bit out of the way but would drive it again.
Nice course, but too $$.
This is a nice course, but for a Monday at noon (not corwded) the fees are too high.
Great Course...
We really enjoyed our outing here. The weather was perfect and the pace of play was good. The course was in very good condition. Greens above average.
The cow fragrance was not too bad that day, so all in all it was a very good golf day.
We shall be back..
Great Value
Anyone looking for a great course for the value Chaska is worth the drive!
Good Value
Fun course with really narrow fairways on many of the holes. You get penalized for spraying your shots off the tee but could score well if you are positioned right. The greens were in excellent shape with very few ball marks but didn't play with nearly as much break as what they appeared. So a little deceiving but overall really nice greens for speed and condition.
Dalgreen golf course
The course has a few interesting holes but for those who live in the Twin Cities it is a long drive for a so-so course.
Always a Good Bet
I usually play Dahlgreens several times each year and have never been dissatisfied. Good track and usually in very fine shape. Above average greens for the area. When busy it can get a little slow. We can usually find a tee time on short notice and it isn't often overcrowded. It's a bit of a drive west of the cities, but worth it. Good value.
Golfnow driving directions
Day started poorly following Golfnow driving directions to the course instructing me to arrive off of Hwy 212 and Louise. Being from out of state I had no clue how to correct ending up on cart path past maintenance and cart lot before gratefully finding parking lot. Staff very understanding and gracious. All aspects of course are outstanding and as my son has recently moved here hope to return soon, off Dahlgreen next time.
The round was great. Course in mid season form. Few wet spots but that was to be expected. They were marked real well.
Great Friday Playing Hooky
Got out at 8 am ... no one immediately in front or behind us. Weather was perfect, course was ready and waiting. Didn't see a bev cart until after the turn, but the food at the clubhouse after the round was awesome! Birdied 17 ... then double bogied 18 ...
Great course worth the drive!
My first time out there, early season still for minnesota, course was in fantastic shape, some wet areas due to the time of year and rain. Tighter course, mature trees, and amazing true greens. Not fast greens and need to play more than once to score well. The only downfall, and i know its because of the time of year is we didnt see a refeshement cart untill 17th hole at noon. No big deal great course, i will be back!
Nice Track
Nice track. Average conditions, some greens nice, some not. (Decent for this early in season). Will be awesome in summer. Staff always nice.
Thank you for taking the time to write about your experience with us. We appreciate the very kind words and we are happy to hear that you have been coming back to see us over the years! We look forward to seeing you again!
