Shorter, challenging GC in Farmington
Southern Hills GC is a 6200 yard golf course that has very good greens and a penal rough[but fair]. This makes it play longer if you are not hitting the ball where you want. There are water hazards, OB and wild grass areas that can jump up and bite at anytime, and the greens were rolling very true when I played last. Nate and the staff do a wonderful job of making you feel appreciated for choosing to play their course. Faster play is available during the week as weekends tend to be pretty busy.
the greens were in excellent shape
We enjoyed golfnow prices and our game. We were surprised by the fact a storm broke up about an hour before our t-time and we had beautiful weather. There were very few on the course when we started around 1:30 but things picked up quickly after we completed our 7th hole. This did not inhibit our play and we finished our game at our regular pace.
Course in "Rough" Shape
Fairways cut ridiculously narrow and the rough too deep to find a ball. Many places very wet and tracked or driven over leaving ruts. Looks like the management is trying to clean things up after a terrible spring in the area. The course will probably look and play much better in a coupe of weeks.
Challenging but not over the top
We played the course after a long rain delay, so there was a fair amount of standing water here and there (2 inches of rain in 3 hours). All in all, it wasn't that much of an issue. The course is well layed out with challenging holes and some straight forward fairways. The greens all roll pretty true. Enjoyed it, will play there again!
Improvements are being made.
The course has been getting a very nice facelift . Some fairways and greens have suffered significant damage. Still a good challenge and one that will improve as the season progresses.
The sand killed me.
It's a challenging course that could use some more summertime to green up. Lots of sand with good water placement. A bit far out of the way but a good place to get out of the city and enjoy golf.

Several sections of the course were very soggy and need attention
The course is well maintained and I love the fact that they will stay open as long as they can before closing for winter.
A good course, challenging, good variety of holes. I wish they had one more set of tees a little further back, like 6,800 yds.
Nice Course
A little shorter than most, but greens are tricky. A little dry, but to be expected with no rain for 30 days.
