great course to play
3rd time playing this course this year. like it a lot.
Course is in great shape. enjoy playing it,
Not for the weak...
This course has been a long time favorite. Lots of blind shots, rolling hills, fast (and at times) tough greens...
General Manager Bob Deem is a great asset to this club...Customer relations have never been better...
First time playing course, Great Day
Had a Great Day, Started out with Bob Deem ( G.M.) introducing himself and welcoming us to the course.
Turned out that we knew him from a different course that he was GM,
You can tell how well the course is taken care of, by the great job Bob does and all the workers taking care of course, Was an hour drive for us to get to Kimball, but was well worth it. We will for sure play it again soon. Course is set up with old hole and new design mixed together. Great layout. Some blind shots, but forgiving. Thanks for the great day.
Excellent course; excellent value
The staff was very welcoming & the price was good, but the thing that separated this course from others were the unique hole layouts & the smooth greens.
Greens were fairly brown, and lots of boggy wet spots. The course is not overly groomed, so we lost a ton of balls. We were with kids, so we didn't care so much. It seems pretty wet there, so I would try it again later in the summer when it has had time to dry out. The price was cheap, so it good for someone with kids.
Kimball
Challenging, hilly, many blind shots, greens fair but tough, scenic, grounds well maintained, excellent staff, reasonable green fees. Good experience, fun and enjoyable. Highly recommend.
Not for the faint of heart.
Kimball Golf Course is one of the best courses in the area if you are looking for a challenge. With turtleback greens, blind tee shots, 90 degree dog legs, nearly 600 yard par-fives, and a signature island green, this course will give fits to even seasoned golfers. If you are not a scratch golfer, bring some extra balls, because the thick Woods and ample water are hungry for little white spheres!
However, if you are up for a challenge, and enjoy seeing beautiful scenery on a very well-kept course, then Kimball is for you! With its combination of narrow wooded Fairways and links Style open Fairways, it feels like you're getting to play several different golf courses in one round.
Unless you're an avid Walker, you'll want to rent a cart as the rugged terrain undulates over the hillsides and valleys of the area.
Good round
The round was fine. The club did allow a 5-some to play. We caught them on the 7th hole, but refused to allow our 3-some to play thru. This caused the back-nine to be very slow.
Average experience
Decent course. It's early in the year, as expected the course is still in pretty rough shape. The greens were hard and fast which can be nice but extremely difficult with more than 70% of pin placements on large slants, It seems like they tried to have the hardest possible pin placement on most holes. Pace was pretty good, only had to wait on a couple par 3s. Was very well priced through golfnow. However I would have been very disappointed if i would have paid what the course asks regularly.
Kimball a hidden gem!
I played Kimball yesterday and was pleasantly surprised to find the course in great shape and well cared for. Bob makes everyone feel welcome and does his best to accommodate you and your request. I will be back again sometime in the future!
GolfNow deal, first time
Got a deal on GolfNow for $13 per person, 18 holes w/ cart. Teed off around 7:30am and finished at 10:45am; we were a twosome behind a fivesome but they let us pass. Very challenging course with small greens and narrow tee shots/fairways. There are also some holes with blind shots. A couple times I'd get up to me ball and say, "well if I would've known that I would've hit (fill in the blank) off the tee." Lots of undulation on the fairways and greens; hard to find a flat lie or straight putt. Because of this I kept getting the feel of Deacon's Lodge (a poor man's DL). Unfortunately for me I was spraying my driver all day, which you CANNOT do on this course, so I found myself using 4 iron on the shorter par 4's off the tee and this proved to be a good strategy. Length did not seem important; you HAVE to place your shots accurately to have a look at these tiny greens. The greens were a little slow, but I think that was because of the dew and not the cut. Worst/Most disappointing part were the tee boxes. Almost every single one was covered in weeds and were too long. Overall I liked it, especially with the GolfNow deal.
Unfriendly front desk man
This golf course is not one of my favorites the guy at the front counter got really mad at me when I asked a simple question about the prices
Nice course, friendly staff
I have played this course a couple of times annually for years. Very good condition. Had fun.
Worth the Drive
I played this course the day after Labor day in 1 hour and 20 minutes for 18 holes. Course was in pretty good shape. Greens ran true and fast, fairways were smooth but the tee boxes on some holes need some attention. i don't think a lot of players use the back tees so they might not keep them in the best shape. Fun course will some challenging holes. lots of hills and undulating greens. If your in the area i would recommend you play it.
Great time
I made a tee time for 8 and was able to tee off at 7. Course never got backed up and was well kept.
Still a great golf experience
Weather tried to mess up our round, but wasn't successful. Great greens and well kept course. Some blind shots, but overall a great day and will go back again this season.
Well Worth the Drive to Play
I played the course last year and went back again this year to see if the course was still as good as I remembered. I was not disappointed. The condition of the course and greens left me with the same impression...I will be back again. Nothing fancy about the clubhouse or golf range, but overall a great value. A short 50 minute drive from the West Metro. Hoping this stays a relatively unknown course for my benefit!
