Crystal Springs Quarry Golf Club
About
Crystal Spring Quarry sits perched atop a bluff overlooking the Missouri River Valley. In 1888, the quarry was established and named after the crystal clear springs that meander across the landscape. Over a century later the historic quarry was transformed into a stunning 18-hole, public golf course. Mature forests surround three sides of the course and the fourth is bordered by Creve Coeur Park. The terrain was carefully preserved to the point that playing a round almost feels like wandering through a nature preserve. The protected wetlands, vast lakes, and meadows covered in native grasses were deftly utilized in the design. Water is naturally a major element of the golf course but there are also strategically placed bunkers along the greensides. It is a challenge, but five sets of tees make Crystal Spring Quarry more accessible for different skill levels.

Good mix of hard holes with some holes you can go after
Course was in very good shape. The bunkers need some work done but the fairways and greens were in good shape.
Great course
We usually have an evening tee time. At 5:30p the fees are $18 for all you can play, with a cart. Outstanding deal.
Great Value, Fast Pace of Play
Nice course, greens in good shape, hot day had water and cart out. Played behind a threesome and got around in 3 1/2 hrs.
15th and 17th fairways are in poor shape due to drainage. Other than that course is well kept. No starter so it was a bit confusing since we had two groups at the tee.
Great fairways, great layout.
Great for practice of different clubs. I was able to use all my clubs because of the course layout.
This course is perfect for my level of learning
its wide enough and forgiving for my not so good aim. You can still land in unlevel foot lies and the greens are not flat. Shorter for the guys but perfect for a female !!
Great course for the price.
The course was in great condition and drained really well after the thunderstorm the night before. The greens were in great shape and the grass was well maintained. There was construction on hole 1 due to them adding a drain, but other then that the course played really well.
this course was good.
the course was good. It needs a little work, but all in all it was a good value. I would play there again.
Nice course overall. First time playing course, I will make a return visit.
If your a straight hitter you'll enjoy this course. Lots of water, sand and rough if you pull the ball.
Well-maintained!!
The course was well maintained and staffs are very friendly.
Especially the greens are very fast and feel like PGA tour grade, I think.
Average to good course for the aea.
I always enjoy playing this course. The greens are in good, early spring condition; the fairways have not "greened up" yet. The course needs more attention in the rough as there are too many voids in the grass. If you don't mind the geese and what they litter the course with, you should enjoy this course.
Good Play, Will Be Back!
Got out after it had snowed earlier in the week, so it was soggy, but I enjoy the layout and will definitely be back to play it again.
One thing I would reccomend is for CSQ to have their new layout mapped by the Golf GPS app. Yardages were a best guess and I don't like to play like that . Either that, or mark yardages better on the course.
All in all, CSQ is a great value and has a good location. I will play again soon!
No Longer Fun
Hole 10 (used to be hole 1 before the tornado) was their signature hole. Straight up hill par four that was challenging. That hole has been removed and replaced with a 100 yard par 3 in the middle of the course. So now, outside of hole 11, the course is completely flat. Probably will not return as courses like Bear Creek are way more fun for the same price.
Easy but must be a shot maker
Course has good lay out and features. From tips it only plays around 6200. It might be the longest 6200 yard course i have ever played. Seems to be always hitting into the wind. Great course and good value. Will definitely be going back.
Nice changes to the course layout. Club house is now on Marine Ave.
Nice changes to the course. They removed hole #1 which was a bad hole. You now start on Hole #10.
OK for $22.00, would not likely play again
Arrived early for 2pm tee time. Facility was swamped, it was a nice day though, so to be expected. No carts avaialble on arrival. Tee time was at least 20 minutes late, due to apparent frost on the course that morning. Seemed more like they were just letting walk ons through. Starter was nice, people in pro shop dismissive. Course was in decent shape considering the rain. Too many people on the course to allow for steady pace of play. Course details on updated GARMIN do not match up, but probably not the course's problem. Overall, it was a good day to drink beer, stand around waiting and hope to finish, which we just did by sunset.
I have played this course prior to the changes and think it was it was a lot better then. Will not return.
With all do respect with the great weather, the day of golf was ok.
Had a issue at the start with a 35 min delay getting to the tee box. The Marshall stated it was due to a frost issue in the morning which is plausible however cart path only didn't help. In addition, actually had to wait for people to get off the course to get a cart. Course seemed to be in decent shape after a wet past few weeks. Finally had to give in and quit for the day at the 13th hole after taking over 4.5 hours to get that far. Will try again in the future, however I hope the day is better organized.
Price, course condition, location and value for the money are very good.
This is a great course to play if you live in West County. Fairways are in very good shape as are the greens. I suggest that they add tee containers to dispose of the broken tees to help maintain all tee boxes. The course has an interesting layout.
Course was in very good condition.
We arrived early and they let us go off as soon as we were ready. We played 15 holes at a fast pace before we caught up to 2 golfers walking the course which slowed down play till we finished. Only 3 1/2 hours was good. Course was much drier than anywhere we have played lately, fairly challenging from the gold tees, rough was high enough to make course difficult, and the greens were running fast. We will definitely go back and play this course again, probably on a regular basis since the location is near to both of us.
A course that has a a layout that will not let you get bored!
I feel it is important to play from the teebox that fits your handicap here or you might make it a little tough on yourself but no matter which you choose it is still a nice course and a word of caution unless I am just unlucky but call ahead to see if it is cartpath only but it still was worth it.
NICE COURSE
Nice course its all right there in front of you not to much undulation on the greens or course. Good place to learn the game.
