Where Payne Stewart Cut His Teeth

This is one of the oldest courses in the area and most exclusive. Founded in the 1920s, Payne Stewart got his start playing this course as a child. A very tough course lined with mature old hickory trees, so you better hit it straight! I believe it plays 3-5 strokes harder than the other jewel of Springfield, Highland Springs. Carts are nice with GPS. Greens are typically fantastic and rough is typically thick. They have the best practice facilities in Springfield with a new golf shop and clubhouse renovation, a hitting bay, and a brand new weight room which opens in 2020. The pace of play is always great since this course gets less play due to exclusivity. The course also rarely hosts Monday tournaments which keeps the conditions immaculate. New white sand bunkers added in 2018. If you can get a member to get you on, you won't regret it! Highland Springs probably has a more fun layout, but Hickory Hills has that awesome old school feel you won't get anywhere else in the area!
